1 Chapter 1

I was greeted into this new world by my closest friend, Maeama. "Goodmorning, Axo," she greeted. I mumbled a response and slipped out of bed. "So, I assume you haven't noticed the... changes?" she asked. I gave her a quizzical look while I finished brushing my teeth. "There were some changes around... well, everywhere," she started "First, I took the liberty of looking at your tablet, and it signifies that you're a mage."

"I- I'm confused, what are you talking about?" I replied

"The world has turned into that of an MMORPG. Everyone has been assigned their class based on their dream last night. It was a simulation to see what role you would likely fit best," she explained.

"Okay... We're in a videogame then?" I asked

"You could say that. Now hurry up and get ready, we've got a long day ahead of us," she said.

I took a moment to study my tablet. My name was written at the top in bold. Next to my name, there was a level progress bar, a health bar, a mana bar, and a coin pouch symbol that showed how much money I have. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the health and mana bars could be copied onto your body so you could always see how much of each you have.

I opened my inventory to find a wooden staff, three health potions, and three mana potions. I left all of that alone and headed out of my room to meet with Maeama. She signaled for me to follow her, and we headed out of the apartment. "Follow me, I'll explain a few things on the way," she started. I nodded, falling in step behind her.

"The world obviously is a bit different now, hence the tablet. We're heading to a training facility just up the road, so we can safely figure out what we're capable of." she began. She continued to explain the basics of what she knew already, most of it being common knowledge.

Upon reaching the training facility, we got a ping on our tablets. A message appeared on the screen that read, "You have reached the training facility. This area is a safe zone, meaning that you cannot hurt anyone here. There are three areas of this area, the training grounds, the shoppe center, and the class station. Upon approaching each area, you will get more info on your tablets."

Maeama and I walked to the training grounds first, and we received another ping on our tablets. The new message read, "This is the training grounds. Here you can test your skills and abilities on dummies and simulations." After reading the message, we went to the shoppe center. Another ping sounded on the tablet and the message read, "This is the shoppe center. Here, you can buy many different items including but not limited to: Weapons, Armor, Potions, and Upgrades." Lastly, we checked the class station. We got the final message that reads, "You are now at the class station. It is possible to change your class if you're not content with the class you've been pre-assigned. This area also shows how a class works, and good synergies between classes. Lastly, this station allows you to choose skills that match your style."

Having read all the messages, Maeama and I started with the class station. I found a list of skills on my tablet with the instruction to choose two. I chose a novice level healing spell along with a novice level firebolt spell. My skills were automatically updated into my tablet as well as a unique skill. I was given a familiar!

I waited outside the class station while examining my new skills. My familiar, as I'd come to discover, is a Queen Hornet. Just as I was about to summon it, Maeama emerged from the station. "What's new?" I prompted.

"I decided to change classes because I'm not too sure I'd be a good mage. Besides, we already have one," she said as she gave me a friendly punch on the arm. "What about you, what did you do?"

"I just chose my skills, nothing super special..." I started. "Actually, I did get a unique skill... I have a Queen Hornet Familiar." I finished enthusiastically. Maeama seemed interested in my unique skill. She didn't say anything about it though. We quickly moved to the training grounds.

Maeama went into the simulations straight away to test her skills as a rogue while I stayed in the entrance to meet my familiar. I called upon the Queen Hornet, and she appeared instantly. Only, she wasn't alone. "Hello, Axo. We are the Queen's horde," the hornets stated, speaking as one. "We finally meet, we are at your service," they ended.

I spoke with the horde for a few moments, asking questions and answering others. The contract was made swiftly and effortlessly. "We look forward to fighting alongside you, Axo. We can start as soon as you're ready," they stated.

Maeama returned from the training grounds, sweat dripping from her face. "I feel like I could beat anything right now!" She exclaimed with bright eyes. She took a moment to catch her breath, then we headed for the new world.
