13 Chapter 13
I continued working on my projects as time passed by. It was January 1973. I had accomplished a lot during the time that passed. Howlett Enterprise grew so much as well. We entered into the technology industry and designed a lot of gadgets like printers to phones and computers. We're a heavy giant when it came to manufacturing circuit cards and chips. I had to change CEO's multiple times when they started to get an urge for more power and money. I kept increasing the technology slowly so it wasn't a huge jump.
James and Victor had managed to track Werner down at a SHIELD facility and eliminated him. Astrid helped them with gathering any information SHIELD had on Werner's old labs and journals. Right now, they were still searching for the Obelisk in Europe. Astrid and I were still studying the Pym Particle and trying to apply it to our suits. We could make it work but at the cost of using the Pym Particle. We could make more, but the issue was how to implement it to the suit's nano technology. Tony Stark was able to do it when they made suits for everyone during the time heist, but Astrid and I were still stuck on how to do it successfully. In the meantime, we were also trying to apply it to large items. From my memories, I know Hank Pym is able to shrink his whole building into the size of a suitcase. We figured out how to make the Pym Particles, but we were still stuck on applying them to large objects. Hank Pym really was a genius when it came to the applications it has. To my surprise, the data scanned from the lab also contained information about the super soldier serum. It was some basic formulas that were used and information about the serum's structure. It was very incomplete, but it gave Astrid and I enough to start something. I asked Astrid to continue analyzing while I made my way to Charles' mansion. It was about time to stop Raven, so the Sentinel program doesn't get started. I decided to teleport there to get more practice in. A blue field surrounded me, and the scenery changed.
I teleported just outside his mansion. I saw a rusted gate with the sign private property keep out. I sighed. I guess even though he can still walk the depression of losing his students still hit hard. I noticed the Xavier School sign on the grass. I breathed in and pushed the gate open. I started walking the trail to the mansion. It was still lovely to see all the green. It reminded me of where I used to live in Canada with my brothers. The vegetation had started to grow around the stone leading to the mansion. Even the fountain in the center of the driveway around had overgrown vegetation. The mansion still looked nice, but it was covered by the trees. I approached the wooden double door and knocked. I could hear someone moving closer to the door. The door opened slightly, and I could see Hank McCoy peeking out.
"Can I help you?" Hank McCoy said.
"Yes, I am looking for Charles Xavier. I believe he is a professor at this school" I said calmly.
"The school has been shut down for years. Are you a parent?" Hank asked.
"No," I answered politely.
"There aren't any more professors here. I just take care of the house now," Hank said.
"Is Charles Xavier here?" I asked.
"No, you need to leave now," Hank said as he started to close the door on me, but I put my hand to stop it.
"Please, I just want to talk with him. Its urgent." I calmly asked. He started to put more strength to close the door. I grew annoyed at him and let him close the door. Once the door slammed on me, I used my telekinesis and forced it open. As it opened it hit Hank on the face and he fell. I stepped over him as I walked inside.
"I was being nice. You didn't have to be rude." I said and started to look around. The inside of the house looked really dark. It has not been well kept. I heard growling behind me and saw that Hank had transformed into his blue beast form. He roared at me and jumped at the chandelier.
"Hank!" I heard Charles say.
"What's going on here? What the hell are you hanging on the chandelier for?" Charles said in a slurred voice. I could smell the alcohol from where I was.
"Professor Xavier," I said gently.
"Please don't call me that," Charles said as he was squinting his eyes at me. I couldn't blame him for not recognizing me. I had dyed my hair blonde and tied my hair up in a bun. Since I had a new identity, I didn't want to look the same.
"You know this girl?" Hank said.
"She looks familiar, I'm not sure," Charles said as he started to sober up.
"Oh Charles, you really don't remember me?" I asked as I walked closer to him. His eyes widen when he recognized me.
"What are you doing here?" Charles said angrily.
"I need your help Charles," I said.
"You need my help?" Charles said as he scoffed.
"We need to stop Raven, Charles" I said carefully. His face went through a slew of emotions.
"I'd like to wake up now," Charles said as he went to get another drink.
"What does she have to do with this?" Hank said as he started to change back into his human form. I sighed deeply and began to explain.
"She is going to kill a person named Bolivar Trask. She believes that by killing him, the hunt for mutants will stop. This will actually set up a program called the Sentinel. Advanced robots that eventually hunt and kill all mutants. They eventually evolve to be able to determine regular humans who might potentially have an offspring with mutant powers" I said. Charles and Hank were silent as I continued to talk again.
"The robots are able to adapt to any power introduced. They use her mutation to be able to adapt," I explained.
"So, you're saying they weaponized her mutation?" Charles said as he drank.
"Yes, and many more" I said. Charles looked at Hank and he shrugged.
"She is unique," Hank said.
"Well, sorry to break it to you, but she won't listen to me" Charles said as he sat down at a chair and took a sip of his drink.
"She belongs to someone else," Charles said with a sad expression.
"Well, that's why we are also getting Erik's help," I said cheerfully as I put my hands behind my back.
"You what?" Charles said as he chuckled.
"Do you even know where he is being held?" Hank said.
"Yes, I do" I responded.
"Then you realize how insane you sound," Charles said.
"I can show you," I said as my expression turned serious.
"Show me what?" Charles said slowly.
"The possible future," I said.
"Give me your hand" I said as I extended my hand. Charles hesitated before reaching out. When our hands touched, I showed a vision from my memory. The scene of some of the X-Men who survived getting killed. The scene where Erik is slain and the scene where he is old and, in a wheelchair, about to die.
"W-What was that," Charles said as he sat down.
"One of the possible futures that could happen," I said.
"Unless we do something about it" I said looking at both of them.
"And how did you possess this knowledge?" Hank said.
"I have many abilities, one of them lets me see multiple futures" I said. I had decided to say that now in case someone wanted to ask how I knew things.
"Let's say I help you and we try to convince Raven. What makes you think that Erik will help us?" Charles said.
"I'll convince him don't worry" I said smiling. Charles looked at Hank and Hank nodded and went off to grab a map. Hank came back and laid out the map on a table. It was a layout of the Pentagon. Erik's prison was designed by Trask to prevent Erik from escaping. It was made from non-magnetic material so Erik couldn't escape.
"So how are we going to break him out?" Hank said.
"Charles and I will take care of that," I said smiling.
'Won't we?' I said telepathically to him. Charles was shocked and smiled at me. We drove down to D.C. with one of the cars Charles had. Hank drove as we traveled south.
"So, how do you have so many abilities?" Charles said as he looked at the passing trees.
"I just do," I said looking forward. I could tell he had tried to look into my head but couldn't get past my defenses.
We continued driving and stopped when we arrived. We left late at night, so it was early morning by the time we arrived. Our plan was pretty simple. Charles and I would use our mental abilities to make ourselves practically invisible as we walked right in. I put on a mask to hide my face. We made it down to the prison entrance and continued until we were in the room Erik was held in. It was a large room and Erik was on the bed sleeping. I knocked on the glass that separated us from Erik. I waved at him as he woke up and saw us. I used my telekinesis and created a strong force to break the glass. Erik climbed out and looked at us. The alarms sounded and red lights turned on in the room.
"I hope you have a plan Charles" Erik said.
"I don't, she does" Charles said as he motioned to me. I smiled at him as he looked at me. The door behind us started to open and I focused on my mental powers to make all the soldiers fall asleep.
"Let's go," I said I walked over the soldiers.
"Who is she?" I heard Erik say.
"Remember the person we traveled to northern New York to ask her to join us?" Charles said. I came to the elevator and pushed the button to go up. I could feel Erik's eyes on me from behind me.
"It's rude to stare," I said without looking back at him. The elevator reached the top and opened. We were greeted by a lot of officers pointing their guns at us.
"Charles," I said. Charles put two fingers from his hand to concentrate and made them fall asleep.
"Come on, Hank is waiting for us" I said as I started walking out. We did the same and used our powers to make ourselves invisible as we escaped. We made our way to Hank who was parked nearby. We entered the car and drove off. Charles sat in the front and Erik and I sat in the back.
"I'll explain everything when we get on a plane" I said to Erik. He just looked at me and looked forward. We ended up driving to an airport where Charles had a jet land for us. I boarded the jet and took a seat down. I really didn't want to talk. I knew Charles and Erik would talk it out and Charles would explain the situation to Erik. I fell asleep pretty fast. I was woken up by Erik shouting and the plane tilting.
"Where were you Charles! We were supposed to protect them! Where were you when your own people needed you! Hiding! You and Hank! Pretending something you're not!" Erik shouted.
"Erik!" Hank shouted from the cockpit.
"You abandoned us all," Erik said. Charles was panting as he was trying to adjust himself up. Hank was able to stabilize the plane as it leveled out. Charles looked at Erik before retreating to the cockpit and sitting in the copilot seat. Now it was just Erik and I alone.
"I know you have lost people Erik, but so has he. Go easy on him" I said.
"What do you know of loss?" Erik said angerly. I could feel my face naturally frown. My knowledge of the comics was not just information. They were memories imprinted in my brain. Almost like I lived in those times. I knew there would be even more deaths that I had to take part of and some I had to let happen.
"I've experienced it more than I care to," I said sadly. Erik's expression changed.
"Clean this up, will you?" I said as I gestured to the objects on the floor. I put my seat back and closed my eyes.
I woke up to the shaking of the plane as it landed. I saw Erik and Charles cleaning up their game of chess. I was glad they made up. We traveled in a car Hank got for us. Hank was driving us to the meeting in Paris where Raven would try to kill Trask. Charles and I used our mental abilities to get past the guards and make our way to the meeting. We heard a commotion as we climbed that stairs.
"Raven!" Charles called out. We arrived to see Raven pointing a gun to Trask. Our arrival distracted her, and William Stryker shot Raven with a taser. Raven laid on top of the table as the electrical currents ran through her body. Erik manipulated the taser rods and stuck them into Stryker's neck. Raven was now lying in the table spasming from the electric shocks. The device that Trask was holding started to beep more intensely as we were all here. While Charles was talking with Raven, I crushed the device with a thought and watched it crumpled into pieces in his hands. I saw Erik grab the gun and point it to Raven. I focused my powers to protect Erik's mind from Charles trying to stop him.
"Charles! Stop him!" Raven said.
"It's not working!" Charles said as he tried to take control of Erik. Raven didn't waste time and turned to run. Hank tackled Erik but Erik still manage to shoot. Erik hit Hank on the face to get him off and later punched Charles too. Erik looked at me as I stood still watching him. He didn't try to do anything to me as he walked towards the window that Raven jumped from. I didn't want to change anything. This version of Magneto is better than what he becomes. I would make sure his family survives. I continued to watch as Hank transformed and went after Erik. I thought about getting rid of Stryker now, but I would wait until later. I knew another opportunity would be available.
"What are you doing! Help us!" Charles said looking at me. I looked at him and shook my head.
"I can't Charles. Let this play out. We need to get out of here come on." I said and started to walk out from the office. I could feel the anger radiating from Charles as we headed downstairs. We proceeded to exit the building and saw Hank escaping as well. We grouped up at the airport and took the jet back to the U.S.
"This needed to happen Charles," I said calmly to him. Charles just looked at me angerly.
"What do you mean? It was your idea to get Erik and now look what he has done! You put Raven in danger!" Charles yelled.
"She is not in danger. I can guarantee that," I said calmy.
"How! How can you be so sure!" Charles yelled back at me. I simply looked at him as if he was stupid. He seemed to catch the hint and sat next to Hank. We stayed quiet throughout the plane ride. I knew what was going to happen next, so I just went to a spare room in Charles' mansion and fell asleep. I was woken up by Hank knocking on my door.
"Come in," I said. Hank opened the door and looked guilty.
"I screwed up…Raven was here" Hank said. I pretended to be shocked and sighed.
"Let's go get Charles" I said. We saw that she damaged Cerebro preventing Charles from controlling her or Erik. I looked at the design Hank came up with. It was truly remarkable. I might be able to create something like it later. Hank later showed us that he captured a news broadcast indicating that there will be an announcement by the president on the mutant event. I internally smiled because everything was going according to the revised timeline. My role is essentially achieved. All I would have to do is distract the one robot. We took the jet down to D.C. to prepare.
"You're going to find more mutants Charles" I said softly looking out the plane window. Driblets of water were seen on the window as the jet was flying inside the clouds.
"They are going to need your help. Don't lose sight of yourself when the world looks to you for help," I said Charles as I turned to face him. I hope my warning is enough to sway him.
"I'll…do my best" Charles said hesitantly. I decided to fall asleep and wait for the plane to land.
We landed and made our way to the event. It was being held in front of the White House. Charles used his powers to let us through the security check points. I saw the event starting and the president being his speech. The revealing the first Sentinel versions on stage. Charles found Raven and pointed at a person frozen in place. Hank and I made our way to the person frozen. Suddenly the Sentinels started to activate and rose into the air.
"Hank wait" I said as I put my hand out to stop him.
"Astrid, can you scan the robots? Download everything you can" I whispered to her.
"Right away, Dr. Howlett" Astrid responded.
"What was that?" Hank asked.
"Nothing," I said as I looked up at the Sentinels. One of them started to point their weapon towards a group of police vehicles and fired. Panic came quickly among the crowd as everyone started to run in all directions trying to escape the gun fire.
"Let's go back to Charles," I said to Hank and we started to make our way through the panicked crowd. We were interrupted by a police car exploding and knocking us back. I looked up and saw Erik coming and grouping with the Sentinels. The stadium he brought fell around us. Charles was trapped in debris that fell on top of him. Debris started to fall around us as we ran towards Charles. I saw Erik put the other Sentinels on top the stadium leaving one next to him. He saw us and Hank transformed. The Sentinel next him took off and started firing at us. We took cover and started running from the fire. It landed in front of me and tried to punch me away. I dodged the strike and continued to dodge until Hank got on top of the Sentinel and yelled for me to stop Erik. I nodded and ran away. I hid behind a structure and activated my suit. The nanites began to cover me until I was fully suited. I aimed my right hand at the Sentinel and launched a bead at him. The bead would attach and provide Astrid with the ability to analyze more thoroughly. I activated the stealth system and watched the events unfold. Technically, James would have been thrown off to a river by now so my presence here is more for my piece of mind to make sure it follows the new timeline. I watched the events go according to the new timeline. Erik made his speech on live tv. Raven shot him on the neck and knocked him out. Charles then convinced Raven to not shoot. Erik then escaped and Raven escaped as well.
"Scans have been completed Dr. Howlett" Astrid said.
"Perfect, thank you Astrid" I said smiling. I activate the thrusters and flew away. I was still using my stealth system, so no one saw me escape. I gained altitude and headed towards my home. I didn't want to create a portal since I wanted to enjoy the flight there. I gained more speed and went supersonic. Breaking the sound barrier was exhilarating. The suit cushioned most of the g's produced and my bone structure and mutations could handle the rest. Astrid had displayed a route for me to take in my HUD. I had reached my home in a matter of minutes. A field of grass separated revealing a landing platform for me to land. I slowed down and landed safely. I deactivated the suit as I walked into the lab.
"Alright Astrid, Let's start a new project. Name it Sentinel MK II. Also make another project called Emergency Medical Drones." I said smiling. The EMD's would help people when the battles come. They would be the size of a large beach ball and would be able to provide medical assistance to people. I would mass produce them with simple materials, so they don't cost too much to build.
"Yes, Dr. Howlett. Shall I upload all the data to the projects?" Astrid asked.
"Yes, let's incorporate our technology with it. Let's go easy and start with just one MKII. The same for the drones." I said as I began scrolling through the data Astrid projected in front of me.
"Right away, Dr. Howlett" Astrid responded. I noticed a lot of flaws in Trask's first design of the Sentinels. I had plenty of vibranium to spare so I could use it to make them with it. My goal was to make them almost the same version of the original timeline. I would need Raven's blood sample to study and incorporate it to the MK II. That can wait until they stumble upon En Sabah Nur. Thinking of him, I plan to stop Erik's new family from dying. I know where he eventually ends up, so I just need to track him down. In the meantime, I should be sought after to help with the project SHIELD is working on. I pulled a map of the world and saw two dots in Africa. I guess James and Victor are close to finding the item. That's good it'll come in handy if Astrid and I can find out how it works. Astrid has done a lot of the work with the serum Dr. Abraham Erskine made. We had the basis of a serum, but It was not perfect. It could enhance a human to have a stronger body but not to the extent of the original. The original serum was so strong that it allowed the person to train to become even stronger. For now, it could help with solving how to use the Obelisk to unlock the human genetic potential instead of relying on Kree DNA. Once they come back, I think I'll have James go find information about the Monolith. I'll have Victor track down Erik. Astrid would mainly focus on the Sentinels MK II designs. I would focus trying to get into the P.E.G.A.S.U.S. project and practicing with my abilities to fight with En Sabah Nur. It'll be a true test of my limits fighting him. He is so powerful that it took the power of the Phoenix Force to kill him. The Phoenix Force is no joke either. It's an immortal cosmic entity so powerful that it creates and destroys where it goes.
I sat down in a chair. I smiled in anticipation of fighting with En Sabah Nur. In a way, we are kind of connected. He was the first person I injected myself with. The first person to gain abilities from. I knew I had a smile that would make Sir proud. I couldn't help it. I can't wait for our meeting.
