12 chapter 12

If you want to put me through such a rigorous test, then so be it. Eric gave himself a grimace in his head while he was thinking.

"There is nothing else to do around here. If I had to guess, I'd say you're worn out since you just finished curing ten children in a row. I will give you a break for the next three days. You have the next three days to consider whether or not you would like to reap the benefits of this chance." Marsilio stated in a low voice.

"It shouldn't take three days to respond to this. I can respond right now. I just want to be a medic with peace of mind!" Eric immediately responded without hesitating and said, "Captain, I don't require a vacation. I'm ready to go at any moment; I'm just waiting to hear what I'm supposed to do."

"You..."

On the surface, Marsilio appeared to be bemoaning his situation, but deep down, he was beginning to realise how much he appreciated Eric.

"Captain Marsilio, I will be the first one to return." Eric paid Marsilio a respectful salute before turning around and exiting the dingy, dark chamber.

Marsilio gave Eric's back a thoughtful look as he thought about the strange feeling he had in his chest, which made him think that this young man was special.

But…

He was unable to find anything that was out of the ordinary.

"He is not in good physical condition, and he lacks any self-motivation!"

Marsilio murmured something to himself before shaking his head and deciding to cease ruminating on these matters.

"Eric will officially become a member of our faction! He is approved," Marsilio repeated this to himself before using a huge seal to affix a stamp on a document.

The expression on Marsilio's face grew increasingly chilly.

As a result of Eric's successful completion of the preliminary test on his heart, he is now able to communicate with the other members.

Before, Eric was subjected to a high level of surveillance and virtually full isolation.

Not only was this done so that Eric could gain an understanding of how to complete the assignment very successfully, but it was also done so that Eric would not pick up any suggestions from the more experienced individuals.

The thing that was most essential was...

The Hero faction adheres to a stringent process for accepting new members; even core members go through an application and screening process before being allowed to join. This helps to ensure that members of the [Hero faction] do not have unstable emotions.

Only the objectives of their side should be the focus of their attention.

In spite of the fact that Eric's condition makes it unlikely for him to ever become one of them, he has the determination and the foresight necessary to become one of them.

Maybe this kid is worthy enough.

(Scene Change)

Eric has returned to the dorm room he was staying in.

After entering, he took care to shut the door behind him.

"Fuck..." Eric let out a long and heavy sigh.

The event that took place just now did not cause him to feel as anxious, and it was simply a test for newcomers.

After it became abundantly clear what Marsilio wanted, he watched as the latter prepared a number of tests, and he couldn't help but sigh as he did so.

The domain of the supernatural is rife with danger. Eric's awareness of the tensions that exist between racial groups increased. He had to pass so many stages of testing simply to get into the medical division, let alone those spies!

"At this point, the preliminary examination is complete with my success."

"I have no idea what kind of test is going to be waiting for me after I join the team."

"I must be careful! If I hurry through this, we won't have time! I shall go about things calmly and collectedly; I don't want anything, and I won't struggle for anything."

Eric had a heightened and more profound awareness of the significance of being patient and a supreme-level mobster. Nobody should even entertain the idea of identifying a defect in him.

(Scene Change)

Creak...

The door of Eric's room in the dormitory was pushed open.

The one who appeared in front of Eric was a man wearing a strange robe, and his face was covered with a hood.

He did not know how many times he had seen this man. Every time he saw them, they were wearing a hood, preventing Eric from seeing their facial features.

"Eric, Captain Marsilio called you over." In a deep voice, the man said.

"Yes". Eric nodded.

"This is for you."

After the man finished speaking, he took out a white coat with the imprint of a hero faction on its back.

Eric looked at the coat strangely; it looked like a lab coat that a doctor would usually wear, but it had a hood attached to it, and it seemed to be made up of durable material.

"Put it on, and go there by yourself as soon as possible," the man said and walked away.

Eric put on the lab coat and looked at himself in the mirror. He was pretty good-looking if one really had a say in it; he had platinum hair, intense red eyes, and a slightly handsome-looking face, which seemed immature.

He was wearing a black undershirt and brown corduroy pants, combined with his lab coat. He could say he looked a bit more domineering; on a scale of 10, if his previous charm was a six, now he would be considered a solid seven.

As expected, most mobs are good-looking compared to the main protagonist, and he is no exception to this rule.

However, putting this fact aside, if Eric felt slightly comfortable after getting this, doesn't this mean he is a member now, won't be under strict supervision, and can slowly blend into the background and grow stronger?

Thinking of this, he couldn't help but grow ecstatic about the future.

He put on the hood and started to move, but he didn't know why putting the hood on made him feel an indescribable sense of security.

Eric suddenly felt that this feeling of covering his face to hide his identity was very good. It was especially suitable for a person with a system like his.

There was no time to waste.

Eric quickly arrived at the location of the main headquarters where he was supposed to be; it was a massive hall.

There were more than a dozen people gathered in the hall.

Apart from Marsilio, wearing a black windbreaker, everyone wore hoods and looked particularly formal.

After Eric came No one spoke to him. He also did not speak to these people either. But he could feel they were all quite powerful; from their aura, he could feel their sacred gear.

So no one seemed to be a pushover; they seemed to have a decent amount of mana too, but compared to Eric, it was too pitiful. From the memories he received and judging their auras, all of them are near the level of a mid-class being.

This level of power was somewhat impressive for being a human mob, so it could only mean one thing: they are elite-level mobs.

The entire hall was very quiet. The air pressure was a little low.

Eric found a corner at the back and stood there silently, waiting for the time to pass.

After ten minutes people came in one after another. There were nearly thirty people in this room.

"It's about time."

all of a sudden.

Marsilio spoke, "Today, I called everyone here to have an internal meeting."

Marsilio's low voice made everyone feel the seriousness of the matter.

Eric stood at the back. His gaze focused on Marsilio. He listened carefully to the latter's words. All the members present were in the same position, listening to the leader's words.

"Many of you have witnessed the cruelty of the supernatural world, particularly the cruelty directed at us, humans." Marsilio's gaze swept over the members.

Although everyone was wearing hoods, these hoods were not too big of a cover for people who had been familiar with them for a long time.

"You people who have experienced bloodshed and humiliation! But there are still half of the newcomers here who have not experienced anything and are still in a state of lack of experience."

"That's why I'm here to give you a reminder." "Make your body adapt to the state of war as soon as possible."

"I'll reveal some more information to you!"

"According to the intelligence we obtained through the spies and interrogation over the past few days. There might be a huge-scale assault launched on the Khaos Brigade in the coming year; despite our secrecy, many factions have managed to get information about our existence and goals and are planning against us."

Marsilio's voice became much louder. The content he spoke seemed to be able to penetrate one's heart, and everyone present couldn't help but cry out in alarm.

Hu~

The members of the room were all staring at Marsilio, and their breathing became rapid.

War!

Such a word.

No one was willing to hear it easily! Those who had experienced war or those who had never experienced war understood what this meant.

That was a pain!

As long as there was war, there would be pain!

It was unavoidable! However for their race they need to bear such pain.

For a moment.

The atmosphere became extremely serious.

"I believe you all still have some doubts! Let me give you a simple explanation."

"Azazel has managed to sneak some of his spies in to monitor our movements and plan, and knowing the crow's cautious personality, he would have already made plans against us. There are also rumours of a peace treaty between three factions, and many pantheons are growing restless since the end of the great war."

"But... according to the latest intelligence report, all signs indicate that. The Greek and Norse are constantly strengthening the military preparations and are eyeing the three factions!" "While the Shinto faction has been relatively restless with the devil's faction, their relationship seems to have worsened."

"Plus... the three great factions, though they aren't on the same side, are trying to unite as one. If this continues..."

"I guess... at most in one year! Our cover would be completely blown away. Then there will be a war, and it will spread throughout the supernatural world!" Marsilio said it with certainty.

This was not his nonsense, but an inference based on the information he had and where he was.

"So. I called you here this time. The main purpose is for you all to be alert! No matter what."

"We, [the Hero faction], have decided to plan for the first step in this war, so we will start targeting our strongest enemy, Dragon! We will be carrying out our plan in 10 months, so be prepared; even a minor mistake could cost you your life, understand?"

Marsilio's voice grew louder and louder, giving Eric the feeling of a general mobilisation meeting.

"Understood!"

"For humanity!"

"For humanity!"

"For humanity!"

All the people present immediately responded loudly. Everyone was full of fighting spirit as they had been brainwashed thoroughly.

"Dismissed!" Marsilio casually waved his hand, indicating that everyone could return to their respective posts.

"Yes!"

After everyone responded, they dispersed. They didn't need to say what they have to do now. There was no need for everything to go through Marsilio's instructions. It was completely normal.

The members of the division each had their own duties, and everyone had their own tasks. all of a sudden. The audience dispersed.

There were only three people left in the room. In addition to Eric, who had not left because it was one of his orders to remain in the room until the meeting was over.

There was also a man who appeared to be in his twenties; he had black hair and spectacles. He was wearing a combination of a Japanese school uniform and a mage-style robe over his uniform with a feathered cape.

"You must be Eric!" The man spoke as he turned his head and looked at Eric.
