19 Fall of the Fallens (2/2)

Kalawarner, Raynare and Mittlet were shaken by the sheer amount of destruction caused by a few teenage devils –wrecking their formation and slashing through their defenses.

"H-How are they so strong?"

Mittlet gritted her teeth as the number that they were so proud of dwindled so easily.

"They are strong." Raynare frowned. "And their attack strategy is commendable."

Raynare did not want to admit it, but the strategist of the devil side seemed to be far greater than theirs.

"We need a better formation." Kalawarner said. "But where is Dohnaseek?"

"The kid that you were after is also missing." Mittlet noticed. "You reckon that the old man took him for the kill?"

Kalawarner's eyes widened. "No one will kill him and the black haired devil!" She was furious. "I will be the one to rip them apart!"

But just as she was about to rush off towards Kento, she was stopped by the other two fallens.

"We have a bigger issue at hand." Mittlet said. "While we need Dohnaseek as he is our strategist, we cannot have any of us leave or those devils will have an advantage."

Raynare agreed. "Forget about the kid. This issue has to be solved immediately."

As the fight started, Rias noticed that the fallens' formation deteriorated extremely fast. From having a decently strong offensive and defensive formation, they were now recklessly charging at them.

'It is good for us.' She smiled, not bothering with why their formation worsened.

Rias was the strategist of their group, often taking pride in her strategies and formations. 

As an heiress of one of the pillars of the underworld, she was hammered with the knowledge of war and formations onto her. 

With how easy the battle went, she did not even have to use her powers.

In truth, her Power of Destruction was capable of erasing the enemies in an instant. 

But she wanted to let her peerage have a battle in order to improve their teamwork while also letting Issei get a taste of what an actual fight looked like.

As she was focused on the fallens, she heard Issei ask.

"Where is Kento?"

Rias froze.

She looked around knowing that the boy was right beside them when they arrived.

But now the boy was nowhere to be seen.

"Did the fallens target him?" Akeno felt her heart drop.

Kento was the one that helped them in saving Issei and Asia, but if they were not able to protect him in return… they could not call themselves any better than the fallens.

"I'll look into it!" Koneko said, ready to leave the fight to look for the boy.

Rias agreed, aware that they could win even without her rook. They had already chopped down the enemy numbers by a significant number.

"Koneko, go look for Kento." Rias said. "And we will focus on the fallen."

"Huh? Who's looking for me?"

Just as Koneko was about to leave, they heard the familiar voice.

"Kento!" Issei shouted. "Where were you?!"

The devils looked at him, wondering the same but also feeling relieved that he was safe.

Kento smiled, as he saw Akeno blasting off a chunk of the minion army with her lightning.

'That lightning sure is sweet…' He thought, before answering. "One of the fallens targeted me."

This got them all shocked and worried.

"But I dealt with him."

They took a sigh of relief at his reply, but not without being shocked at him taking down a fallen.

"I told you he is capable of dealing with those fallens." Koneko commented. 

Rias sighed. 'They probably thought he would be a good leverage against us.'

Taking a deep breath, she smiled. "I am glad you are alright. You should stay in the back with Issei."

But Kento had other plans.

"Let me help." He said. "I will be targeted by more of them in the future to begin with. So, I need as much experience as I can get in fighting them."

Finally, Kiba decided to speak as he hacked through two soldiers at once.

"It is dangerous." He said. "Each of them possess abilities that a human cannot defend against. Even if you took down one, going against an army is not easy."

Kento smiled and before anyone could say anything, he commented. "You all can back me up in case I get surrounded." 

As Rias was about to reply to that, he added. "I know you all are capable of doing that. After all, you all are devils stronger than those fallens."

This was something that Kento planned. He knew that Rias and her peerage were prideful and he was aware that if he targeted their pride –they would never say no.

Hearing this, Issei also wanted to fight.

But he had to protect Asia, so he could not do it.

The devils frowned a little at his comment, but Rias knew that he was correct.

If anything went wrong, they could always protect Kento.

"Fine." She agreed a little begrudgingly. "But do not let your eyes off of the enemy."

Kento smiled. "Sure."

After a few interactions with Rias, he knew exactly how to deal with her personality.

With her permission, Kento immediately took out his dagger, which made Issei unintentionally frown from afar.

Without wasting a second, Kento swooped in and stabbed the neck of a soldier, followed by a punch to another soldier with his {Horo-Kanu}.

The best feature of Samael's dagger was the poison feature which restricted the enemy's movement. And even better was that the poison could not be detected by the naked eye. So, for the onlookers it simply looked like a really sharp dagger.

While his dagger was something he was happy about, he was disappointed that two of his  skills did not activate.

{Herculean Strength} and {Atlas' Will} did not activate as his opponents were still humans and they had no advantage over him.

Shooting multiple arrows made of water at his enemies, he continued to trim down their numbers –making the devils quite impressed.

Rias looked at Akeno, giving her a nod.

Koneko looked at Rias, almost with a look that spoke `Told you.` 

Rias sighed and ordered. "Kiba and Koneko keep cutting down their defenses and Akeno take down their long distance offense."

The devils nodded and proceeded to do as told. 

But this got the attention of the fallens, who were furious at seeing Kento.

"Kento Yamazaki!" Kalawarner roared. "How dare you appear in front of me!"

Raynare was shocked as well. "Where is Dohnaseek!"

Kento merely smirked at their question. 

"In whatever afterlife fallens go to."

This comment shook all three fallens.

"How dare you!" Kalawarner roared, blinded by the rage she felt towards Kento topped with Dohnaseek's death made her lose all rational thoughts and rush at him.

"No, don't!" Mittlet warned, but it was too late.

This was all Kento wanted.

He could not rush at all three of them at once, as the devils will not allow that fearing his safety. 

And there were too many of the minions blocking his path.

He grinned as he saw the fallen shoot herself towards him.

"Kento–" Rias was worried, but as she saw his grin, she knew something was up.

He pushed one of his legs forward, and as Kalawarner was about to reach him –he used his skill.

{Water Manipulation}

Spikes made of water sprouted from the ground and stabbed the fallen, making her lose her balance.

"Kalawarner!"

Seeing this, Mittlet also rushed towards Kento.

"*Ugh!* Bastard!" Kalawarner gritted her teeth, trying to regain her balance.

But Kento wasn't going to let her.

{Horo-Kanu} 

Landing a stright hit on her head, he made her crash onto the ground.

And as he prepared to counter Mittlet, he saw a massive strike of lightning landing straight on the blonde –getting her to the ground.

"Ahh!"

Kento nodded at Akeno, thaking her for the help.

Akeno smiled as she saw Kento rushing towards Kalawarner.

The woman was on the ground, writhing in pain. The hit she took made her dizzy.

"I don't exactly have any enmity towards you." Kento said. "Despite you trying to kill me."

He did not care, as he knew she could not kill him. She was weaker than him now. And even if she used all her skills, his dexterity was high enough to tank her attacks thanks to {Atlas' Will}.

He walked towards her, his skills flaring up.

"But there is a reason I have to do this." He smiled. "So, forgive me for this."

"Wait–"

{Water Manipulation}

Smiling at her helpless state, he summoned a spear of water and stabbed her right through her heart –stopping her movements almost immediately.

"KALAWARNER!" Raynare screamed with Mittlet looking at the scene horrified, as she tried her best to stand up.

But the lightning had wounded her pretty badly and she could not move as swiftly as she wanted to.

Meanwhile, Kento was happy to see the progress.

The devils were shocked to see Kento kill Kalawarner effortlessly and without any remorse.

'And they say devils are scary.' Kiba shook his head. 'Humans are far worse.'

He immediately rushed at Mittlet as Rias flew straight towards Raynare.

"Die bitch!" Raynare screamed, summoning a massive beam of light.

But Rias was unfazed.

And so was Kiba.

The two devils simultaneously took their stance.

Ready to kill the fallens.

But this made Kento horrified, as if they killed the fallens, he will fail his mission.

Kiba slashed towards Mittlet, as Rias summoned an red orb that emitted energy that scared almost everyone present.

"Woah…" Issei gasped as he saw the orb.

Kento had no choice, but to launch two simultaneous attacks.

{Water Manipulation}

{Blindshot}

[Samael's Dagger]

{Light Manipulation}

This was by far Kento's greatest feat of casting simultaneous skills.

"Go!" He roared.

Locking Raynare with his {Blindshot} and shooting a water arrow with the utmost pressure, he threw his dagger at Mittlet –casting {Light Manipulation} to speed up the projectile which followed the same principle as his flight skill's speed up.

Kiba with all his might struck Mittlet.

"No–"

Who, even before being able to retreat was stabbed by the dagger on her back while the devil slashed her in half straight from the head.

Killing her instantly.

"Ugh!" Raynare cried in pain as the water arrow struck her arm, making her lose control over her light attack. 

This allowed Rias to break apart the light particles with her orb of destruction and land a clean hit on Raynare.

"*Ahhhhhh*"

The orb vaporized the cells as Raynare screamed with her body breaking apart –atom by atom.
