"Ah!" The three year old boy with blonde hair and blue eyes suddenly woke up from his bed.

Wiping the sweat from his forehead the boy muttered: "Why... Why do I keep seeing that scary dream.... Why?!"

It was at this moment that an old lady came into the room.

Seeing Veelex covered in sweat the old lady asked in a worried tone: "Veelex what happened? Did you have another nightmare?"

Veelex embarrassedly nodded: "Um."

The old lady smiled and proceeded to wipe off the sweat from the child's body.

The old lady then said: "Don't be embarassed. There's nothing shameful about having nightmares."

Veelex then said: "But because of the scary dreams the bed is smelly again. So Grandma Bonny has to do laudry again."

Grandma Bonny smiled and teased: "Well if you don't want me to do so much laundry then you should start thinking happy thoughts, that way the bad dreams would stop."

Veelex then became sad and nodded.

Seeing this Grandma Bonny couldn't help but sigh as she thought: "This child possessing such intelligence at such a young age.... I really don't know whether to say it's a gift or a curse. Being able to realize the concept of being an orphan so early is not something a three year old child should ever bear."

When Veelex was but a few days old he was left outside the doorsteps of Mending Bonds Orphanage. Grandma Bonny the owner of the orphanage did not hesitate to immediately accept the several day old infant. The child had nothing except his baby blanket and a letter stating that he was named Veelex. By the age of two, Veelex started to exhibit an astonishing ability for learning. And by the age of three he had started to comprehend his situation, that he was an abandoned child that was left in an orphanage, an orphan. Realizing this completely enveloped his heart in sorrow. Which made him enter a state of mild depression ever since.

The next day.....

Veelex could be seen once again in a depressed mood sitting on a swing looking completely uninterested at what the other children were doing.

Seeing this Grandma Bonny sighed not knowing how to cheer the boy up.

It was at this moment that one of the orphanage workers came up to her and said: "Miss Bonny we have a visitor. It seems to be an old priest. He says he's an acquaintance of yours."

Grandma Bonny: "Oh?.... Well then lead me to him."

"Yes" The worker replied then proceeded to lead Grandma Bonny towards their visitor.

At the orphanage's living room a muscular 2-meter tall elderly man could be seen calmly enjoying his tea.

Seeing the old man Bonny smiled and said: "Oh my if it isn't the Cardinal Priest of the Church himself. To what do I owe the pleasure of being in the presence of his eminence?"

Seeing Grandma Bonny the Vasco laughed: "Oh come now Bonny, stop being so formal. You and I are old friends after all."

Bonny smiled and replied: "Still doesn't explain what a busy old man like you is doing in my orphanage."

Vasco smiled and said: "Would you believe me if I told you I just came to see an old friend?"

Bonny showed a gentle smile, turned to the orphanage worker beside her and said: "Geogia dear would you please show his eminence out?"

Vasco panicked and immediately admitted: "Ok ok I came to adopt a kid!"

Hearing this Bonny turned serious and spoke with tone full of anger: "Vasco what sort of mission has the vatican assigned you, for you to involve one of my children?!"

Seeing Bonny's reaction Vasco didn't get angry and instead responded with a smile: "You've known me for over a century Bonny, do you seriously believe that I would be the type of person that would ever endanger the lives of children?"

Hearing his words Bonny mellowed and apologized: "I'm sorry Vasco. It's just... when it comes to those children I get a bit..... overprotective."

Vasco waved his hand and said: "No no.... It was nice to know that my old comrade, the exorcist formerly known as 'The Fury of Heaven Bonny Rosario' still has that fire in her."

Grandma Bonny became embarassed hearing her old nickname: "Please don't ever call me by that old title ever again! Anyway why do you suddenly wish to adopt one of my children?"

Vasco replied: "This specific child has been entrusted to me by a good friend who happens to be somebody.... shall we say 'Quite Important'."

Grandma Bonny's eyes turned sharp for a second, she then smiled and said: "Hmm... Well they must be 'Quite Important' if they can compel the Cardinal Priest of the church to adopt a child for them. But since it is someone you have considered as a friend, I guess I can trust them."

Vasco laughed and said: "In truth I am actually quite excited to meet the child myself."

Grandma Bonny then asked: "Any hints as to which of my children you have come for?"

Vasco said: "Just a name.... Veelex."

Hearing the name Bonny's eyes opened wide in surprise she then sighed and muttered: "Perhaps it is heaven's will that you have come for that child now."

She then said to Vasco: "Come with me."

The two then proceeded to go to the backyard where Veelex was.

Still sitting on the swing, Veelex still had the same gloomy expression as before.

Seeing Veelex still in a depressed mood Bonny sighed and said to Vasco: "He's the one your looking for."

However Vasco did not respond for his face had already been covered by absolute shock.

By infusing his holy power into his eyes, Vasco is able to see a person's potential and affinity with holy power. In his eyes the brighter they glow the greater their affinity.

And in his eyes the light emitting from Veelex's body was so bright and blinding that the only other time he had ever seen such bright and pure light before was from the bodies of.....

Vasco thought: "..... The Seraphs... A human with the potential and affnity that rival's the Seraphs!"

Seeing Vasco's dazed expression Bonny immediately tried to call out to him: "Vasco.... Vasco!"

Waking up from his daze Vasco turned to Bonny and asked: "Eh.... uh .... What's up?"

Bonny then sighed and pointed to Veelex: "He's the boy your looking for."

Vasco showed a gentle smile and said: "Yes.... it seems he is."

The two then proceeded to approach the boy.

Seeing Bonny with a muscular old man Veelex couldn't help but ask: "Grandma Bonny? Who is this Grandpa?"

Before Bonny could even answer Vasco already approached the boy and said: "Hello there little guy. My name is Vasco Strada I'm a priest from the church. I came to ask if you would like to stay with me from now on?"

"Eh?!" Veelex was immediately shocked hearing Vasco's words.

Grandma Bonny then smiled and reconfirmed Vasco's words: "It's true Veelex. Vasco here is an old friend of mine and he came here to adopt you."

With eyes full of stars Veelex asked as if wishing to confirm: "R-Really?"

Vasco smiled and nodded: "That's right I came here to take you home and become your guardian. So what do you say little guy, would you like to be my son?"

With a face full of joy Veelex furiously nodded: "Yes... YES!"

Bonny then smiled and said: "Well then I guess you better go now and pack your things."

"Okay!" The boy happily replied.

He then hurriedly went back to his room to start packing his stuff.

Bonny then turned to Vasco with a serious expression and said: "Vasco I'm trusting you with that child. Please do not betray my faith in you."

Vasco nodded reassuring her: "Don't worry I won't let you down."

Returning with a small bag full of clothes Veelex: "I'm ready!"

Seeing the boy so energetic both Vasco and Bonny smiled.

After a tearful goodbye with Grandma Bonny and the other people from the orphanage Veelex pledged: "Don't worry Grandma Bonny I'll come back to see you all soon!"

After which Vasco and Veelex then proceeded to leave the orphanage.

Several Hours Later.....

Vasco and Veelex finally arrived outside Vasco's house.

Vasco smiled: "Well... we're home!"

Looking at his new home Veelex's eyes almost popped out of their eye sockets.

As the Cardinal Priest of the Church Vasco lives close to the vatican, owning a large piece of land with a castle sized mansion at the very center of it.

It was at this moment that several nuns and maids suddenly came out of the mansion and greeted Vasco: "Welcome back your Eminence."

"Yes everybody I've returned." Said Vasco with a smile.

He then gesturned his hand towards Veelex and said to the nuns and maids: "This is my newly adopted son Veelex Strada he will be staying here from now on."

The Nuns and Maids were surprised at first but then immediately greeted Veelex as well: "Welcome young master Veelex."

Hearing their greetings Veelex immediately became nervous and hurriedly bowed to them: "Y-Yes... Hello.... My name is Veelex."

After entering his new home, Vasco then proceeded to give Veelex a tour of the entire mansion. Vasco was surprised to see that despite only being a three year old child Veelex unexpectedly possessed enough stamina to constantly walk around such a large house for an entire hour.

Vasco thought: "It seems that besides his remarkable learning ability, this boy also seems to possess extraordinary stamina compared to other children his age. Truly a gifted child."

It was at this time that Veelex nervously spoke: "U-Um mister Vasco... can I ask you a question?"

Vasco gave a gentle smile and said: "Of course you can. However... don't call me Mister Vasco. Your my son now... so I would prefer if you called me Pops instead."

Veelex nervously replied: "O-ok.... Um Pops.... Why did you adopt me?"

Indeed this was a question Veelex had wanted to ask even before they had left the orphanage. The fact that a man he had never met suddenly came out of nowhere told him that he would be adopting him was indeed something that waranted some questions. For what reason did Vasco suddenly want to adopt him Veelex thought.

Vasco smiled as if expecting the question he then asked the boy: "Before I answer your question, I'd like you to answer a question of my own first... Do you trust me?"

Without hesitation Veelex nodded and answered: "Yes!"

Surprised by his sudden action the Cardinal Priest said: "No hesitation huh.... Then let me ask you another question. Why do you trust me?"

Veelex tilted his head in confusion before answering: "I don't know... I just feel like your somebody I can trust."

Vasco smiled at his answer and said: "Then there's the answer to your question. I adopted you becuase I also felt you were somebody I could trust."

Within Vasco's thoughts: "A child loved by Holy Power as much as that of a Seraph is indeed someone trustworthy."

For some reason Veelex could feel the honesty in Vasco's words and was glad.

He then bowed to Vasco and said with all the sincerity in his heart: "Thank you for accepting me and may the Lord bless you Pops."

Hearing the boy's words Vasco felt touched from the bottom of his heart and said: "Stand child... I do not deserve such sincerity."

"Yes Pops!"The boy replied as he stood up while wiping the tears of joy in his eyes.

Vasco then said in a gentle voice: "Good child. From this day forth you are my son! I will do my best to teach you everything I know and guide you the best I can. And my only major rule for you is that you must be diligent, do you understand?"

Veelex happily replied: "Yes I understand!"

It was at this moment that the life of Veelex Strada truly began.
