4 Chapter 4 - Power Testing

After looking around for a few minutes and poking a few things here and there I decided to do a few tests. First I walked around and picked up a few pieces of old appliances and made a simple flashlight. Looking down at it while juggling it in my hand I decided that I could do better, and so another few minutes later I held what looked like a black high-caliber rifle that shot hard-light projectiles, they didn't really have any power beyond stinging you, though.

"Better."

Trying to sort of *will* it into my Warehouse Space it instantly disappeared with a *pop.* Willing myself to return to the real world I reappeared in my new base and walked outside. Standing in front of my entrance looking at the star speckled sky I felt the slightly chilly night breeze blow around me and took a deep breath. You know, just standing here in the quiet of the night, the past day seemed kind of unreal. Going from a street rat with superpowers to a dimensionally displaced street rat with superpowers kind of did that to you, I guess.

Did I have to have philosophical questions about the multiverse being real? Did I need to fear for myself being strong-armed into some galaxy spanning plot of some higher power? More importantly, though.

"Do I need to build a toilet?"

"..."

"Hmm..."

"..."

"I mean, I don't really 'feel' like I need to go anytime soon... Maybe OGB did me a solid and just removed annoying biological needs when creating my new body?"

"Dunno, time for some tests!"

Feeling around inside... myself? I looked for my Warehouse Space which didn't take long to find and focused on bringing out the rifle I made. After about a few seconds I felt a sort of pull and a new weight landed in my hands. Looking down at the rifle that appeared I started turning it around, inspecting it from all angles. It was sort of like what I'd imagine Green Lantern's energy constructs would look like in the real world but, you know, not green. It had a sort of polished and sharp look that made it seem more dangerous than it really was, and throwing it up in the air slightly gave me the feeling of it wanting to float but still having a weight to it? It also made a sort of 'Vooom~' noise when in motion and combined with it's looks, it looked totally badass.

Hmm...

Stroking my chin in thought, I tried willing it to have weight and it quickly fell to the ground with a thunk.

"Oh."

Willing it to be weightless did not really change anything visually but as I picked it up again, it felt like I was holding a feather.

"So it can't weigh completely nothing, I guess? Or maybe I'm just not used to using the power yet. There also seems to be a sort of limit to the size and quantity of what I can bring out for now, I get the feeling that it will expand as I use it so that's not really a problem. Let's try controlling it."

With just a thought the rifle started levitating by itself, making it maneuver in a sort of circle around me, I didn't feel any strain. Pushing it further, I made it fly in a straight line ahead of me and it wasn't long until it just stopped, refusing to move further away from me. Making it circle around me again I got a better feel for the range.

"That's about, what? Mmm... About 10 meters in a diameter around me?"

While the rifle was flying circles around me I had another thought and returned to my Workshop Space. Still feeling my rifle flying around outside, I felt a smug smile appear on my face. Even if it still couldn't move any further from where I was standing when I entered the Workshop, this was good.

"Next test, then."

Quickly throwing together a cube that could do backflips, I left my Workshop again. Once outside I willed the cube into my hand and it appeared without a problem.

"So there's no limit on the amount of things I can take out, then? I wonder how the power determines what I can and can't take out. I get the feeling it's a combination of mass and size but I don't really know."

I played around with the controlling aspect for a while and got to know a bit more about my new power. For example, it didn't need any build up to reach max speed which for now wasn't that fast but that would be deadly once I work on it a bit more. Another thing was that it wasn't straining at all, and I could seamlessly control both items simultaneously which meant that the power likely had multiple smaller aspects aswell since I wasn't this good at multitasking befo-

"..."

Now that I think about it, isn't the controlling aspect kind of just psychic powers?

"..."

Quickly whirling around and trying to lift a tire a few meters away with my mind, I felt like a pool of some sort of energy inside of me was quickly draining and stopped when it was about half full, the tire stayed unmoving. Glaring at it, I could feel a pout slowly forming on my face. The tire was mocking me, I just knew it. Walking over and quickly giving it a kick, I subconsciosly used what was left of my energy and an electric purple-blue aura appeared on my leg before it made contact.

With a dull sound, the tire flew about 15 meters away before landing and bowling into a pile of scrap, the force making the whole heap shudder precariously.

Just sort of standing on the spot frozen looking at the dust it kicked up for a few seconds, it wasn't long before my body started vibrating with excitement. Feeling an overjoyed squeal escaping me, I expressed my excitement with a jump and a shout.

"Hell, yeah~!!!"

---

A few days later I was sitting on an old car looking at the weird lightsaber I found in one of the piles. It was a hilt of dull golden metal segments with red gems embedded slightly below the top and above the bottom. It didn't have a crossguard either, but I guess most lightsabers don't. Though something was weird about it. See, the last few days I experimented with my psychic powers a bit and found out that rather than a typical psychic package, I had something more similar to tactile telekinesis.

Honestly, it was something I preferred since normal telekinesis would be pretty redundant with my other powers in play seeing as I wouldn't start ignoring them out of nowhere. I also like them more, so I guess that's another reason. But not just that, I also used my newfound psychic powers to organize my mind into a mental fortress and set up some traps and protections against invaders. Even if I hadn't seen any, who knows what dangers there were lurking around.

Well back to the lightsaber. Sending a bit of psychic energy through my hand, I felt it interact with what was lingering around the hilt. Whatever the source was, it wasn't there anymore since I didn't feel any pushback while messing around with the energy remnants and I couldn't trace it back to anything. I guess this is proof that this world has some aspect of the supernatural to it?

This could be much more dangerous than I thought, I'll have to get my game face on.

"I've got some preparing to do."

...

...

...

*Growl*

"After I get some food."
