45 Side Story: Azazel wants to be entertained

(Azazel's POV)

I think it's been more than 8 years since the incident happened. It was the weirdest case I have ever dealt with. The case started as a simple memory loss. "What do you mean Raynare lost her memory?" I asked Shemhazai when he reported to me about this mysterious case.

"Exactly what I meant. Raynare went alone somewhere and didn't come back yesterday. Her subordinate searched for her and found her in an unconscious state. And when Raynare woke up, she started asking everyone about who they are and who she is." Shemhazai explained.

"What? Was she attacked with some powerful memory erase spell? But why simply make her lose the memory and leave her alone? And of all the people, why her? And are we sure she's the real Raynare?" I asked in confusion.

"Exactly my thoughts. It seems that she also forgot about her being a fallen angel. She panicked once she saw wings on others. Currently, they just kept her in a room and run some tests. They didn't explain anything to her. At least the test results say that she's the same Raynare that we know of." Shemhazai gave more info. I couldn't understand anything at that time but that sounded interesting. So, I went to check it along with Shemhazai. Kokabiel and Baraqiel were also present at that time. Kokabiel is disgusted by what Raynare became.

"Who are you?" Unsurprisingly, she asked me the same question.

"I am kind of your boss" I answered and I was also carefully observing her behavior.

"Hmm... I work for shady people with black wings?! What the hell was I doing before?!" She panicked. I explained to her that I am the head of fallen angels and that she's also a fallen angel. She believed it after she made her wings appear.

"Oh... So, I am one of those fallen angels that are found in the bible. Wait, doesn't that make us the bad guys?!" She panicked even more. "Hmm... I used to be a bad person that worked with bad guys but I lost my memory. What's gonna happen to me?!!"

"This is even worse than I thought," Shemhazai commented at that time and I nodded. Well, I had the same thought back then. Raynare used to be an angel. So, I thought her angel mode affected her personality a little. I had Shemhazai explain to her about the ongoing war and generally about fallen angels. Raynare surprisingly asked, "Why is the war going on for these many years? Don't you get tired of it?"

"Do you even call this a war?! All of us are staying silent with little fights here and there. How is this even called a war?! We have to march straight at them to prove that the fallen angels are the strongest!!" Kokabiel couldn't control himself anymore. He became more disgusted with Raynare that he shouted at her loudly.

Raynare had a dumbfounded look on her face. "Wait, we are continuing the war for such a stupid reason? What would we even achieve by proving that we are the strongest?" All of us just silently stared at her with a complicated expression.

"Ah, right. I forgot we are the bad guys!! And we are supposed to bad things for no reason. I completely understand you, the pointy-eared bad guy." Raynare shot a thumbs up at him. Man, I still laugh to myself at the look Kokabiel gave after Raynare's sentence. Well, he would have killed her right then if we didn't stop him. We sent him away and calmed down the panicked Raynare.

And after calming down, she asked more questions. "By the way, boss. Why did you fall from heaven?"

"Because I had sex," I answered bluntly.

"Oh, I see... Wait, does that mean I fell because of sex too?! Wait, I don't even remember losing my virginity?! This is not fair!!" And she made another comment making all of us look at her with a dumb look.

"No, You fell because of your stupid pride. And because of the same stupid pride, you remained a virgin for centuries... probably..." I came out of my shock and said.

"Probably?!!" She panicked even more. Well, it's not like I can confirm that. I didn't know much about Raynare's personal life. I was amused by her reactions at that time. It took a long time for me to realize that this person is not Raynare anymore and that she was acting the whole time.

After that incident, I had put [Raynare] under my observation. She used that time to learn more about the world. And once she learned everything she needed. She came to me and said "Boss! Make me stronger!!"

I sighed. Well, it's because, in the past, Raynare would also ask ways to get stronger to stand beside me as my subordinate. That was pretty annoying, not gonna lie. Anyway, I asked the reason for her wanting to become stronger.

"For survival! What would I do if some strong devil or angel crossed the path with me?! And even among fallen angels, people like Kokabiel might kill me." That was her answer. Well, that's a good reason.

"So, how strong do you want to become?" I asked with a smile.

"Hmm... Let's see. Let's just say for now that I want to become at least stronger than you." She said while pointing at me. I laughed. It was then that I realized this is not the old Raynare anymore.

"Well, the training might be hard." Well, this [Raynare] is more amusing. So, I didn't really care.

"Bring it on! I am fine even with a training regimen like 100 pushups, 100 situps, 100 squats, and 10km run every day!!" She said with fire in her eyes. By the way, what kind of idiot would suggest such a hardcore training regimen?

"Well, you asked for it. Don't blame me." I agreed to train her.

"Wait! You are really not gonna make me do that, are you? I said it metaphorically!! Could you go a little easy on me?" She changed the tone real quick.

"Well, unfortunately, no takebacks. Get ready." I said with a devilish smile. [Raynare] gulped once she heard that. And after that, I started giving her tasks and gave her a training regimen. And the rate she improved is marvelous. Did this girl increase the potential of Raynare's body when she possessed her? But she kept training for a long time without stopping.

"Wait! Aren't you asking something ridiculous?! How can I do it?!" [Raynare] would complain like this every time I raised the difficulty level.

"Aren't you being too hard on her?" Even Shemhazai and Baraqiel once felt pity for her when I gave [Raynare] a task.

I explained to them that this girl isn't Raynare anymore. "That girl, whoever she is, doesn't really accept that she possessed Raynare but she doesn't try to hide the fact that she is not Raynare. She wears a mask of cheerful personality on her face but her eyes show a few of her true thoughts. And when I give her a task, her mouth complains about how hard it is but every single time, she does it without fail. And when she accepts the task, every time she has the eyes of someone who says 'I have been through worse.'"

Who is she? Why and how did she possess Raynare? What is she looking for? I don't know any of these. All I know is that she is an interesting character.

A few years went by and I was never able to find out more about this [Raynare]. [Raynare] became a fallen angel with six wings. Everyone is amazed by how fast she is growing. I told Shemhazai and Baraqiel to make it seem like we all trust her and discuss things in the open so that I might know more about her once I see how she acts with the info. Until then, she never did anything other than learning new info and she kept searching for something or someone, all this time, throughout the world.

And Baraqiel's family was attacked by assassins during this time. But I still had a lot of work for him. He expressed his concern about how they might attack again. "How about I act as their bodyguard then? You never let me meet them. I can use this chance to meet them!!" [Raynare] said at that moment which came as a little shock for us. And I agreed to it even before I knew it.

Baraqiel had doubts about leaving his family in her hands but I assured him. She won't harm them since it won't make sense for what she did till then. And another thing she could do is blackmailing Baraqiel with their safety and there is nothing profitable for her in doing this. But it's the first time she showed such interest in something. So I accepted it due to my intuition. And the result of my intuition came in the form of an overpowered lucky bastard living a life that I want.

I immediately accepted to meet with him once Baraqiel told me that [Raynare] took an interest in him. It seems that this guy is a mystery too, just like [Raynare]. But he doesn't seem to know anything even about himself. One of the proofs is how he is actively avoiding [Raynare] and doubting her. But I think [Raynare] knows something about him. And the way to solve this mystery is to make more interactions between Mike and [Raynare] so that I could get more information.

I summoned [Raynare] and gave her the phone that Mike gave to me. I gave her the task that she would be a bridge between me and Mike. I thought of installing a device inside the phone to find out the conversations that happen on the phone but unfortunately, the phone is more complex than I thought. So, I can't know about the conversations between them. But since it seems like Mike doesn't know anything, I can get more information from him rather than [Raynare] after they interact with each other. Now... I wonder how these two would entertain me from now on.
