Problems with affinities

April 18th, current age: 3

I've been practicing in my room for hours every day, wishing to sharpen my use of demonic power when the times indeed comes. I only go outside of my room to eat and socialize with my brothers, and of course, when I needed to train outside.

Today, however, was the last day that my brothers will be teaching me personally as they have to go back to their responsibilities. Ruval with his rating gear career and Revive working on his media company.

"First of all, let me congratulate you for manipulating your demonic power." Ruval started, patting my hair.

Since the day, when I received my training about demonic power from my brothers, our relationship had increased. We'd talked properly such as deeper information of demonic power, which they gladly answered.

Of course, I had also let it slip that I wanted to learn about weilding weapons, and just as I expected from my doting big brothers, they happily reciprocated and told me that they would send their knights here to teach me.

Which I'm really excited about as they just dropped some big names for their servants; Ruval said that he would be sending the japanese samurai Miyamoto Musashi and Revive sending the Chinese spearman Li Shuwen.

Now, I'm not sure if they are the real thing. But considering that Zeoticus's (Rias's dad) Bishop, Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa like Miyamoto Musashi lived during the first half of the 16th century.

This means that the there is a good chance that they were the legitimate person. As the Evil Piece system was said to be popularise during the 16th century.

Although, some speculated that Ajuka Astaroth (now know as Satan Ajuka Beelzebub) invented the evil peices during the 15th century and gave the prototypes to the current satans, thereby granting them a century headstart.

----------

"Anyways, when are we going to start, big bo?"

Turning into the center of attention, Ruval stood straight and moved his hands behind his back, with a stoic expression, he addressed everybody. "Good morning class."

"…Uh, no offense, but it's already afternoon." I pointed out, scratching my cheek awkwardly, "so it should be—"

"Good morning class."

"But—"

"Good morning class."

"Good morning." I heaved a sigh, finally giving up, feeling slightly amuse that the once uptight heir actually has a sense of humour underneath. Still noticing the deadpan stare, I added.

"Professor Ruval."

"Good morning, my students." Professor Ruval greeted back, nodding at his 'students.' "Please my apprentices, take a seat."

I glared at the grass underneath. I slumped into the soft pasture.

"Today, we'll discuss …" The 'teacher' offered an unnecessary and dramatic silence, mentally cursing for not bringing at least a small board and a chalk for the class. "…Fire and Immortality."

"Wohoo!"

Clapping, I enthusiastically cheered at finally being able to learn how to control my bloodline.

"Anyways," the Bespectacled blonde coughed into his fist, "Since you're all a member of the House of Phenex, you have the ability Immortality, which, it allows us to have a superior regenerative abilities that can withstand attacks that would otherwise kill a normal Devil. We can also regenerate any lost limbs and even parts of their faces, making us highly formidable opponents in battle." He paused.

"Not only that. But the Phenex clan are one of the few devil clans to have an additional ability. The most common of them pyrokenisis, the ability to generate and manipulate fire and the most notable use of this is being able to sprout wings of fire for flight. Are you still following?" He looked at me, I gestured for him to continue.

"Another ability, which is somewhat rare is called Aerokinesis, which is the ability to control air and it's most notable use is to power up our flames, producing what is know simply as 'Azure Flames.' Now, don't get me wrong a pyrokenisis user can reach this level too, but it will take more mana to use as they cannot control the air in the surrounding to power up their flames. Any questions so far?"

"I do," I admitted, raising my hand which earned me a 'go on' from the 'teacher,'

"Is their a way to find out your afiinity? And what ability did you and big bo Re get?"

"As for your second question, Revive and I both obtain all three abilities, " Ruval grin smugly, "As for finding out your affinity we have this." He pulled a cube in his top pocket.

"Our soul actually contains all the magical elements, which is obtain during the convertion process of the surrounding mana to Drana. Which is why the majority of devils are able to manipulate different elemental magic and why we can create magic out of our imagination."

"But in saying so, every soul is slighly different, meaning that there is a variation of the elemental ratios in each and everyone. So this is where the affinities comes into play; Affinity is the measure of how many elemental molecules are present in your soul. Which explains why some devils can't inherit their clans bloodline ability, as they don't have enough affinity for it" Ruval then pause, looking like he was thinking of something.

"An example would be the infamous fallen heir of the Bael clan. A boy 2 year older than you, was apparently when tested for his affinity and rather than getting the 'destruction' affinity of his clan, he had obtain 'life' affinity instead, making a complete mockery of his entire clansman who holds the power of 'destruction'; Forcing his dad to strip him of his heir status and exile him to the edge of the Bael's territory."

'Holy shit, isn't Ruval talking about Sairoarg? The devil race really don't mess around huh. Which means that I need to start experimenting on whether or not I could recreate magic from anime so that I could get stronger quickly. Because in a devil society power means everything.' And with that I had once again reaffirmed my goal.

Ruval catching himself and seeing my face lose at though. Quickly came to a conclusion and consoled me

"Well you don't have to worry about your affinity too much Rye as you arent the main heir of our clan" He crouch down and patted my head.

"I'm fine big bo Ru. You'll protect me even if I'm turned out to be a failure right?" I said glancing up to his face.

And his expression turned out very amusing, who knew that the cold-hearted heir could actually show a loving smile "Of course little one, your big brothers will protect you."

"Alright, as I was saying, this cube works by acting as a multi layered filter. So, if you were to run your mana through here, then it would filter a specific amount of the elemental molecules leaving you with your affinity. Go ahead and try it" He then handed it to me.

I hummed, letting my brother's words sink in. Finally, nodded. "Alright here we go"

Resting the cube in my palm, I then started pumping my demonic magic into it, closely following the directions Ruval had told me.

The cube then projected 3 flavour text which shows:

[FIRE: 10] [LIFE: 10] [SPACE: 10]

"Hmm I knew my lil Riri was amazing!" Revive hummed resting his head over my shoulder.

I jump in fright, surprised by Revive sneaking up behind me "Big bo Re, you scared me! And I thought you said that you would be busy making calls all day"

"Heh" He scoffed as the jubilant blonde complained. "And miss my baby brother Riri's affinity test. No way!"

I ignored my happy go lucky brother and shifted my attention to "So how's my affinity big bo Ru?"

"Hmm no, Revive is right. You really are quite amazing Rye. The ratings scale is from 0 to 10, with 0 being abysmal and 10 being well perfect. While I'm not too surprise about your Fire and Life affinity as most phenex member has it. The space affinity on the other hand, really is puzzling." Ruval absentmindedly grumbled.

He then crouched down and made eye contact with me. "But you better not let this go over your head, ok Rye? Always remember that there is always an exception to any rules. As you are, you may have gotten a pefect affinity and you're now able to learn 10 times faster than others on the displayed elements."

He paused and then spoke "But there are many more monsters in this world. For example, that fallen heir of the bael clan has an affinity of [LIFE:13] and it goes without saying, that the illustrious Crimson satan has an affinity of [DESTRUCTION:20]. Although they may be heavily specialized and may only have a single elemental affinity, their growth potential can more than make up the lack of diversity. So always remember Rye, do not let your talents cloud your mind, as there are many monsters in this world."

Hearing so, I'm sure that I have a bewildered look on my face, as the new information are being absorbed into my thinking muscle. No wonder Sirzechs floated during his birth, his affinity is 20 times greater than others, that he was probably able to sucked out all the destruction elements around him, whilst still being a newborn!

I then felt warm hand patting my head waking me from my dizzying thoughts "Don't mind him Riri, his just upset about you beating his fire affinity" Revive reassured.

He continued with a cheery voice "Because you are the new genius of our family! For comparison: Ruval has an affinity of [FIRE: 10] [LIFE: 9] [Wind: 10], While I had [FIRE: 8] [LIFE: 10] [Wind: 9]. Which is why he is always so cocky, ahaha! But no longer... Ohh big bro is so proud of you Riri" Revive cooed as he lovingly pat the toddlers head.

Imma stop right there lol.

So how you guys finding these lore building? is it too boring? Give me your thoughts and ideas.

Also less important stuff. Give me an idea on what to shorten demon magic into, cuz I cant call it mana anymore as I just explained that mana was the surrounding energy.

I was thinking of calling it drana lol (like prana from fate, but starts with d for Demon.) thoughts ideas give me.
