49 Chapter 49 Coincidence

I opened my mouth to reply, but I was attacked before I got the chance.

"Flaming Chicken-chan!" a scantily-clad magical girl said as she appeared out of nowhere and tackled me to the floor, snuggling up against me like I was her teddy bear. "I've missed you!"

"Levi-tan," I began, doing my best to maintain my calm. "To what do I owe the pleasure?"

Serafall rolled on top of me then sat up, straddling me. "I'm just here to tell you how good a job you did! Ajuka hasn't come out of his lab since he got that thing you brought back from the Fallen. Speaking of the Fallen!" Serafall said, leaping to her feet with her finger pointed to the sky. She opened her mouth to say something when she saw a slack-jawed Valerie out of the corner of her eye. "Who are you?" Serafall asked in a curious manner, appearing directly in front of the dhampir-turned-devil.

Valerie shrieked, leaping back from the half-naked Satan.

"Levi-tan, meet Valerie Tepes, my newest bishop." I said as I climbed to my feet and straightened out my clothes. "Valerie, meet Serafall Leviathan, Satan of foreign affairs. She's our boss."

Valerie's eyes widened and she hastily entered a bow directed at the Leviathan. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Lady Leviathan."

Serafall leaned down and pinched Valerie's cheeks, pulling them this way and that. "You're so cute! Where did Flaming Chicken-chan find you?"

Valerie's arms flailed as the Satan manhandled her, her eyes looking pleadingly at me.

"Levi-tan, I just reincarnated her. Please give her a minute to get her bearings." I said, gently placing a hand on Serafall's arm in an attempt to free my bishop.

"You just reincarnated her? What a fun coincidence!" Serafall said, jumping up and clapping.

"What sort of coincidence?"

"Oh, nothing specific. On an entirely unrelated note, you need to come with me! I'mstealingyourkingbye!" Serafall finished rapidly over her shoulder to my peerage, dragging me along behind her as she sped through my home, yanking me to a jarring stop in the house's attached dungeon.

I would have been worried about Valerie, but I caught a glimpse of Yubelluna moving to help her before my vision became one big, blurry smear. My queen would take care of her. I had more pressing concerns. "Levi-tan, why did you bring me to the dungeon? Why does this house even have a dungeon? I thought it was your vacation home."

"What? Magical girls aren't allowed to get up to some kinky fun when they're taking breaks from saving the world?" Serafall said all too seriously. I was suddenly regretting asking the question.

"Levi-tan, why are we in the dungeon?"

"Oh, that's just because I needed to shove her somewhere while I waited for you to get back." Serafall said absentmindedly, pulling open the door to one of the cells. There was a figure in it who most certainly was not there when I was home last.

"Why is she here?" I asked, taking in the frightened appearance of the blue-haired Fallen I'd captured in Kuoh Town. She was pressed up against the back corner of the cell, her clothes torn in places and her eyes moist as if she'd been crying.

"Well," Serafall lazily began as she leaned against the doorframe of the cell. "She sang like a canary. Apparently Kokabiel told her and her friends they were operating under Azazel's orders. When I contacted Azazel and asked why he was operating in our borders, he said he'd ordered no such thing and basically told me I could do whatever I wanted with her because she'd gone rogue. Then he made a bunch of boring promises about ferreting out corruption and all that, but it essentially boils down to the fact that our little crow here has no friends left." Serafall turned to the Fallen and said, "Do you, Kalawarner?"

"I don't see what this has to do with me." I said, trying to gently prod Serafall back on topic.

"Right. Well, the long and short of it is I get to do whatever I want with her, but I don't really have anything to do with her, so I'd probably end up killing her."

The Fallen in the cell flinched.

"So then I thought," Serafall continued, completely ignoring the Fallen. "You were the one who captured her, Flaming Chicken-chan. You should be the one to decide what happens to her. You could kill her, reincarnate her, kick her to the curb and grab some popcorn to watch while the Grigori's headhunters come after her. Your options are limitless."

"Wait, what was that second one?" I said, trying to parse through Serafall's…Serafallness to follow the conversation she was having at me.

"Reincarnate her." Serafall said, a wide smile on her face. "You helped me get a peerage member, so now I'm helping you get a peerage member. Isn't it great!"

I tilted my head at her as I realized she was being serious. "You do remember why I captured her right? She was in Sona's territory and was involved in a plot that could potentially hurt her."

Serafall shrugged. "You can't hold the plans of smart people against stupid people. And Kalawarner? She's too stupid to realize what she was being used for. Now, I only have another hour free, and I need your answer before I leave so what's it gonna be, Flaming Chicken-chan?"

Rubbing my forehead, I start away from the holding cells. "Give me a minute to talk to my peerage. This is a decision they should have some say in."

"Okay, Flaming Chicken-chan! Me and Kala will keep each other company!"

Leaving the insane Satan and dead Fallen walking behind, I tracked down my peerage and found them to still be in the sitting room. Yubelluna and Clarissa had sat Valerie down on the couch and were talking to her.

Yubelluna rose as I entered. "What did Lady Leviathan want, my king?"

I tiredly fell into the chair opposite the sofa and motioned for Yubelluna to sit back down. "Serafall's done interrogating the Fallen Angel we captured, and the short version is, that same Fallen Angel has been disowned by the Grigori and is now at Serafall's mercy. Serafall offered to let me reincarnate her. If I don't, she'll probably kill her."
