James POV

James: (Where am I? I was supposed to die from those shots the assailant gave me)

I thought frustrated and angry for letting my guard down.

James: (I hope my parents don't get mad that I don't get home)

In a small gym you can see a boy with black hair, a bit tall at 1.78, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, sports shorts of the same color and white sneakers, this was James.

He was finishing his exercise routine to go home as he normally did, in this gym contact sports are practiced.

The boy finished his routine and took his suitcase to go home, the boy was going home late since it was the time he had to attend the gym, he was leaving the place to run into his friends who were also gym partners.

James: I'm leaving guys, take care of yourselves tomorrow at the same time and Mauricio don't come late again, they'll punish you.

James told his friend with derision since very often it happened that he was late and they punished him.

So James, saying goodbye to his friends, headed home, he wanted to take a shortcut as always to get there quickly and not get scolded by his mom.

But while he was about to enter the park he noticed a woman and a little girl, James was able to deduce that it was mother and daughter, he was not going to care but he noticed that 3 guys followed them suspiciously.

Since he was on the same path, he was aware of the guy's movements, more than the place was dimly lit, he noticed something wrong.

Since he was walking nearby he could hear some struggles, so he moved fast and noticed that the 3 guys were cornering them.

James looked at this and his mind thought many things, but he didn't know if what he would do would be stupid but if he called the police it would take so long.

So he called the police and reported what was happening, they said to wait but he knew they were not going to arrive early.

Then in one movement he threw his suitcase, it had some dumbbells in it, one of the thugs received it and thus hitting him, for this reason the remaining two focus on James.

Before they reacted, James threw a Jab at one of the thugs, the one who was in the pit kicked him in the face and knocked them out, the rest took distance from James.

The thug gives him a high kick but James manages to block but by not doing it well he received a lot of impact.

Hooligan 1: Go boy, what are you doing? Do you think you are a hero?

He scoffed at James but kept alert for any movement.

James: Hero? Not at all, I just can't watch while this is happening.

James in boxing guard spoke to him, the woman with the girl behind was looking at the boy in front of her, she only watched as the acts were performed.

James: (What a problem, now the guy with the jab gets up this will be a 2 vs 1).

Rogue 2: Boy, you hit well, but this won't happen again.

So the guy pulled out a knife that was stained red, James frowned at this but knew he couldn't let his guard down for anything.

The other guy was just watching how things unfolded, he was confident that his friend could figure this out.

So immediately the guy launched himself at James, he proceeded to give a downward cut, James managed to dodge that, he took a few steps back, James quickly took off his sweatshirt and threw it at him, he knew very well that he would attack in front so he decided to hit him a blow to his leg.

That unsettled the thug and this was used by James to give him a direct Uppercut to the jaw.

So leaving him on the ground all bloody, James was panting as he worked hard to get down and up quickly from that height.

Maleante 1: Well, he couldn't hurt you but I see that you're the same.

So the thug got on his Muay Thai guard and immediately quickly stepped forward and kicked him in the ribs, but the thug was surprised when James stopped him with his leg, so he headbutted him directly.

Upon receiving the blow, he was stunned for a few seconds, so in a quick movement, James hit him with a hook to the liver that affected him a lot since it hit him squarely.

James quickly recovered and grabbed his head in his hands and raised his knee to the thug's face, he was affected by the previous blow and could not react quickly and James's knee hit him directly in the face, thus breaking his nose.

So the thug stayed on the ground while the blood came out of his nose, James was finally able to finish off the guys.

James: God, it's finally over, at least I came out almost unscathed hehe.

In that James started to walk towards the women but in that he heard some sounds so he turned around, this having lowered his guard and what I see left him frozen, the guy whose nose I broke took out a revolver and heard 3 shots.

The subject began to laugh while the women were in tears, James felt his abdomen wet and with the little strength he had he approached the subject and began to hit him repeatedly while the blood came out faster.

James heard the sirens that seem to have come more because of the shots that were heard, so he started to walk to a tree and dropped down to lie down next to the tree as he watched the woman approach and was crying as she was talking to her.

Woman: Boy hold on, the ambulance is close, don't fall asleep.

James before the loss of blood could only smile at the woman.

James: (Looks like I'll be late and mom will be mad at me.)

James thought sadly at what his parents would think, especially his mother.

Suddenly people could be seen arriving and approaching James and the thugs, a police officer approached James, he spoke to him but James no longer heard anything.

He looked at the sky and by chance it was starry and the moonlight was very beautiful.

James: (What will mom have made for dinner?)

With tears he thought and began to close his eyes and thought of her for the last time.

Mother. J: What are these hours of coming James? Your dad is waiting for you for dinner.

James could only smile again but was left with a smile and thought that he hadn't made a mistake by doing what he did.

He was sad for his parents since he couldn't get to say goodbye to them, but he didn't regret having helped that woman and daughter either.

Suddenly a light began to create and illuminate the place, from this light came an older-looking person, dark skin, white hair, maybe 1.85m tall, his facial features were already old, he calmly approached James.

???: Sorry for taking so long boy, I was solving some problems, but the good thing is that I was able to solve it.

He told him calmly and with a smile, James just nodded in understanding.

James: Okay, don't worry, I really don't know how long I've been here, so I was already relaxing, what should I call you?

James told him quietly but with a smile.

God: Wow where are my manners? I have several names but you can call me God.

James was already surprised but hearing this entity called God left him even more surprised.

James: God? Just like the one in the bible?

God: No, that guy is someone very serious and we don't get along but we are good acquaintances.

James: I understand, but what is an entity like you doing to come before me?

God: Well that's simple, I'm coming for you.

This made James nervous, as a deity wanted something from him.

God: Don't be nervous, it's not for anything bad, rather it's something you like.

James nods at this and relaxes at the words of "God"

God: The one who was going to come was the Biblical God, but I asked him to leave me in charge since he owed me something.

God: I know that you would not like to go to heaven since in my opinion it is somewhat boring and I know that you would not last a week there, apart from that, your soul caught my attention, since you sacrificed yourself to that person without it being yours.

James: Thank you for those words, although I did not know the outcome of this I did not feel bad about the events.

God: Very well boy, what I have come to propose is that you have a second life, to be reborn in a few words.

James: I understand but what would you gain from this "God"?

God: Well, since I asked for your soul, it would serve as entertainment, but don't worry, your privacy will be respected.

James: Okay, no problem with this.

God: I'm glad you accepted, if not, I would have to send your soul to the Biblical God, but I see that no longer.

A drop runs down the back of James's neck at the deity's comment.

James looked how his surroundings began to light up, the light felt calm and warm, suddenly everything went dark and there he knew that his new life was beginning.
