24 Chapter Twenty-Three

Cameron spins me around once again after dancing for about an hour and dips me to the end of the song. I come back up laughing because I was honestly enjoying myself. And with a cute guy! The best part is that he seems to like me, too.

And, even though I know that Aiden is watching me, I couldn't help but wish that he would stop worrying about me.

I mean, we are at a party. He should be enjoying himself! With that Darcy girl..

Bleh. Even thinking about her makes my stomach twist in knots. I don't like her, for whatever reason, but Aiden does so I have to be okay with it.

"Are you having fun?" Cameron asks as he pulls me close.

I nod up at him with a huge smile on my face because, honestly, I really was having fun.

"I'd like to see you again after tonight." Cameron says to me.

"Really?" I ask, just to make sure.

"Definitely." He smirks down at me. "What are you doing tomorrow?"

I freeze for a second but recover before he could since anything was wrong.

"Um, actually, I'm busy all day tomorrow until around dusk. But, I can meet you at the park around eight tomorrow night if you were wanting to hang out." I tell him, hoping he wouldn't question me being busy.

He smiles as he nods his head. "That'll be great. Maybe we can go see a movie."

"Okay!" I agree quickly, having never been to a movie theater before.

I used to ask my parents, when I was a child, but my parents said it was dangerous to leave our home. I didn't understand then but I did when the witch cursed me.

After a few more dances, Cameron leans down toward my ear so that I can hear him better.

"I can't wait to see you tomorrow. And hopefully I'll see you before you leave tonight, but I have to get back to help pour drunk people some more drinks." He chuckles.

I smile back at him and nod. "Okay, I have to find my friend anyway. So, I'll see ya!"

"See ya."

He turns away and I look around the room for Aiden. He was standing around talking to some girl. I walk toward them, but not too close because I didn't want to ruin his mojo. I stopped when I noticed it wasn't just some girl.

I was about to walk up to them but then I heard them having a very heated conversation. Although, i know it's wrong, I listen in on there conversation.

"You have to tell her you like her, Aiden. Before it's too late. Do you want to miss your chance? Who knows, which I'm pretty sure I do, she might actually like you back!"

Aiden shakes his head. "Just drop it, Kels. Okay? She's my best friend. I don't want to take the chance and ruin that." He argues. "If she doesn't feel the same... Let's just say, I'd rather just be her friend than nothing at all.. Besides, I told Bambina I would help her, so that's what I'm going to do."

I don't know why, but it pained me to know that he was hurting this bad over Darcy. He once told me him and Darcy had gotten to become good friends in that month we didn't speak. Maybe he had fallen in love with her.

After deciding I've heard enough, I cut in.

"Kelsie!" I scream over the music.

She turns around and screams, holding out her arms toward me. I give her a hug before glancing up at Aiden.

He wouldn't look at me for a few seconds before he finally gives me a big smile. He looked like he was trying to recollect his feelings so that I wouldn't notice anything.

I mean, he obviously told Kelsie, but hasn't told me yet. So I'll act like I never knew. He can tell me when he feels he can. He's probably too worried about me and my curse to add to my drama. Maybe I should tell him he doesn't have to help anymore if he doesn't want to. I don't want to be the one to hold him back from the girl he's falling for.

"Did you like him?" Aiden asks winking at me, making my heart stutter.

I shrug. "He seemed okay. I'm meeting him at the park tomorrow night so, we'll see."

His eyes darken as his jaw clenches but only for a split second before he masks it with a chuckle.

He pushes my hair from my face and tucks it behind my ear, causing goosebumps to rise everywhere he touches. I feel my face heat up causing him to wink down at me.

"It'll be great, Bambi. He's a good guy. You'll really like him."

But, I was no longer listening. I couldn't help but study Aiden. The way hits plump lips look when he's smirking down at me. The way his eyes are brighter than usual and captivating. His dark hair messily styled on his head. If I didn't know he spent half an hour making it 'just right' I would say he just woke up like that. I always thought that Aiden was attractive, not that I'd tell him that, but now I was looking at him in a whole different light. And, even worse....

Now I know why I don't like Darcy. It's because I'm jealous that Aiden likes her, and...

Oh, my King Tritan...

I like Aiden!
