4 Chapter Three

Bambina

Today was going by so slowly. I was extremely nervous about tonight. What if he's told everyone I'm a mermaid?

Don't flatter yourself, Bambina. He's probably forgotten all about you as soon as you dove underwater.

Ouch. My inner voice is so mean. I hope he hasn't forgotten about me. But, at the same time, I hope he's forgotten about my tail. Or at least think he's going crazy and imagined it. Or something close to that.

Its been only a few hours since he saw me but, it felt like days. My stomach twisted at the fact my life could be over as soon as dusk hit. I was scared, nervous, yet, at the same time, maybe if he told they could figure out how to make me a human. Forever.

I guess I should come to terms that my life will never be the same after tonight. It'll change for better or for worse.

I swim around, looking for something to do. Something that'll keep my mind off of Aiden. I swim further into the ocean then I normally do. Usually, I'll just play with the fish or run from sharks. Dangerous? Yes. Exciting? Definitely.

What do I have to lose if one was to catch me anyway, right?

I swim until it gets darker and I know I must go back or I'll drown. But something in the distance catches my eye.

I swim down until I'm touching the soft sand at the bottom of the ocean. It's shining material glitters through the dang and I pick it up, holding it into the palm of my hand, I turn back and swim the way I came.

Aiden

A mermaid. That can't be right. At first, I thought I was imagining her beautiful aqua fishtail. I wanted to believe I was.

I couldn't, however, because I know what I saw. I'm not crazy. It only confirmed as much when she dove into the water.

I hope I'll see her again tonight, to get some answers. If she comes back out of the water, that is.

She probably won't, since I found out her secret. Not that I could blame her.

I have to admit, when I seen her last night, I thought she was a runaway. She was clean, other than the rundown clothes she wore. I never would've thought she was a mermaid, though.

Who would, really?

"Aiden!" I get snapped out of my thoughts and look down at my little sister, Hazel.

She was dressed in her Ariel princess dress as usual. She smiles up at me and points downstairs.

"Someone is here to see you." She tells me before running of toward her room.

Who would be here to see me? I wasn't expecting any company.

I jog down the stairs and over to the front door. My mom was standing there talking to someone on the other side.

"Hey, mom." I say curiously.

She turns around with a smile. "Aiden, this is Darcy. She'll be staying here for awhile. Thought maybe you would take her around the beach."

Darcy was pretty, if I was being honest. She has long red hair and such an innocent face. Why she was staying with us, I don't know. I'll have to talk to my mom about it later.

Darcy reaches out and I grab her hand with a smile.

"So, you want to settle in first or we could go around now..?" I ask, unsure.

She smiles. "We can go now and I can settle in when we get back."

I nod in agreement. It would be much better to go now so that I didn't have to ditch her later. She takes her stuff upstairs while I wait for her in the kitchen.

Mom looks back at me for a few seconds before looking back at whatever she was doing. After only a few more minutes, Darcy comes prancing down the stairs.

"Ready?" I ask her.

She nods and we head out the door.

The first place I took her, was the beach, obviously, since this was our main attraction. She didn't like it as much as I thought she would. As a matter of fact, she seemed like she wanted to get as far away from it as possible.

I didn't mind. The ocean made me think of Bambina and mermaids. And, to think, just last night, I was joking with Bambina about my sister thinking mermaids are real.

After the beach, I took her to the arcade. Me and the guys come here most weekends with our siblings. Hazel doesn't enjoy the game as much as I did when I was younger but she did enjoy the pizza is buy for her.

Later, I took her to McDonald's and we got some food. I purposely skipped taking her to the park. After we ate, we went back home.

It was getting closer to dark and I needed to sneak out to see if Bambina came out of the water. I need her to know I won't tell anyone. It's not my secret to tell. I need her to know I want to be her friend.

She seemed pretty freaked out when she first saw me. But she relaxed and opened up to me, slightly. I'm hoping she'll give me some answers. Maybe not tonight, but eventually.

I want her to trust me.

So? What did you guys think about Aiden's POV? What do you guys think Bambina found? What about Darcy moving in with the Parker's?

I wonder why Darcy is there..
