11 Chapter Ten

Aiden

How does this one girl affect me so much? I've been with this girl all night but i can't even focus on her because all i can think about is Bambina. Seeing her with that prick has my blood spiking. Even worse, when he wraps his arms around her waist and gets close to her.

Why is she being so careless with him? Is she trying to be caught?

Then she faints. Instantly, I begin to worry for her. I watch him look around before picking her up and heading off somewhere.

Leaving the girl who was talking my ear off in front of me, I follow them.

When I got to them, he was pushing her into his car.

"Dude, what the hell?" I demand as I got closer.

He turns around quickly with a glare directed towards me.

"Mind your own business, Aiden." He demands.

Wait he knows me?

Without a second thought, I walk up to him quickly and smash his nose with my fist. He grabs his nose as he stumbles backward.

I didn't stop there.

After I was finished beating his face in, I kick him in the ribs, just in case. I quickly grab Bambina from the car and put her into mine. The house I bought for her wasn't a far walk but I couldn't just leave my car.

Once I pull into the driveway, I park the car and get out. I quickly run up to the door to unlock it before turning back to get Bambina from the car.

I carry her to the master bedroom and lay her on the bed. She really is beautiful.

Stop thinking like that!

Sighing, I leave the room and fetch some water and aspirin. She'll need it when she wakes up. I sit the aspirin and water on her bedside table before sorting on the couch in front of her bed to watch TV until she wakes up.

"Aiden.." I hear her mumble. I turn around to see if she's awake but her eyes are still closed.

Her eyes then pop open as she looks around quickly to see where she's at. Her eyes stop when they land on me.

"Aiden? Where's Sam?" She asks groggily. "I was dancing then... Well, I don't know what happened after I talked to you."

"It's okay, Bambina. You're safe now and that's all that matters." I assure her.

She looks down. "I feel weird. And I'm extremely tired." She tells me.

I get up and walk over to her bed and sit down beside her.

"You should get some sleep then." I say as I push her hair from her face.

She smiles up at me and I suddenly have an urge to kiss her. But, I know I can't do that to her when she's drugged, so I settle for a kiss on the forehead.

It's weird that I knew her for a few days but this month, she's all I've been able to think about. I tried to ignore my thoughts. It never worked. Even when I hung out with girls on the beach. I just couldn't stop thinking about the beautiful mermaid under the water. I even go out of my way to be at home when dusk hits. I'd never have thought she would be so careless and go to a beach party with no one she knows around.

She should've known better. She used to understand she couldn't be so careless. Why is she being so stupid?

I get up to walk out and let her sleep but her tiny hands grab my arm.

"Aiden, don't leave me." She says softly. I almost didn't hear her.

"I won't." I promised, because she won't remember this in the morning.

As much as I'd love to stay by her side, I realize that I can't just give up my life for some mermaid I just met. I mean, I bought a house for her. What was I thinking? I scared her off and maybe for the better. She said herself she may not want to break the curse. I'm not just going to wait around.

"Lay with me." She mumbles, pulling me toward her.

Just for tonight.

I nod as she scoots over to let me in the bed. I put one arm under her head and the other around her small body. She snuggles closer to me and I begin to play with her hair. Soon, her breathing slows down, signaling she's fast asleep.

I pull her closer before closing my eyes. Even though I should have stayed awake to make sure she would get into the water the next morning, I couldn't help but fall asleep beside her.

***

I wake up and look around. At first I couldn't figure out where I was until everything from last night came crashing back to me. I look beside me to see Bambina sleeping peacefully, cuddled into my chest.

I give her a gentle squeeze before sitting up in the bed. I look over at Bambina and realize her bikini that I had once bought her was now ripped off of her. She was now in a beautifully decorated seashell top. And that's when I remembered...

"Bambina! Wake up!" Her eyes shoot open and she looks around.

"Where am I?" She then looks over at me. "Aiden?"

"Hey, Bambi." I smirk at her.

Her hair was an absolute mess but it was cute on her. She looks down at her body and instantly freaks out.

"I'm a mermaid..." She tells me quietly. "And I'm not in the water.."

I look down in shame. "I fell asleep but I honestly did not think you should've went into the water after last night anyway and I know that isn't my decision to make but I was worried for you."

"Worried?"

"You don't remember anything from last night?" I ask her even though I'm sure I know the answer.

She thinks for a second. "Um, I remember dancing with this guy.. Um... Sam? And then we spoke for a few minutes before he came back from getting me a drink. That's all I remember."

"Sam roofied your drink last night." I tell her.

"Roofied?"

I sigh. "He drugged you, Bambi."

She frowns and sits up the best she can with a fin. She looks at her fin then back at me.

"I need water.."

I chuckle before picking her up. She gasps but grabs ahold of my neck. She's much heavier with fin then she was last night. I open the bathroom door and sit her in the bathtub.

"Cold or warm?" I ask her.

She shrugs. "It doesn't matter."

I turn the water to warm before filling up the tub.

"I have to leave now. My mom is probably wondering where I'm at but I'll be back as soon as I can, okay."

She nods as she settles into the tub. "Have fun!"
