3 Gentle Down

FallingDusk made his way towards the lvl 4 area known as Canyon Falls, his beginner's equipment being simple leathers and a short bow. He began taking note of the other items he had in his inventory, such as fifty feet of hempen rope, ten torches, a waterskin, and four days of trail rations. Everything he received from the moment he logged in was of low quality with the exception of the waterskin as it was a common grade item.

After taking his time to look over his stats equipment and inventory, he started to test what he was able to do within Drop Dungeons. FallingDusk was pleased to find that aside from the HUD, and System Windows, he was only as limited in action as he was in his actual life. With this information in mind the lone Merc turned Ranger arrived at his destination after a few hours walking in game.

Canyon Falls

-A pristine red clay Canyon lined with various waterways each leading to a different waterfall. Canyon Falls is a level 4 area that rests above the level 10 Jagged Lake. Players who fall from the Canyon to the Lake will typically die on impact due to fall damage, those who survive the fall are devoured by the Jagged Lake's Guardian.

Information on Jagged Lake's Guardian currently unavailable...-

"Damn, but seeing as this is a game it's probably a giant fish", FallingDusk muttered to himself as he began looking around the canyon area for the avian creatures. Finally he saw a few fighting other players. After watching them fight for a few moments he pulled up the beastiary window.

Beastiary

Copper Wing lvl 4

HP: 200/200

Attacks

Snapping Vice

The Copper Wing's beak is like a vice grips easily able to cut through leather armor.

deals 35-58%dmg, 10% chance of bleeding

Thundering Wind

The flapping of the wings can cause a torrent of wind upwards of 80mph to knock back enemies up to 45 yards.

deals 25-47%dmg, 75% chance of knock back

This large man sized falcon like bird is a known predator of the Canyon Falls. It is said that their feathers are like copper ingots, one of the three avian creatures to drop 'Gentle Down'.

As he finished reading the information, the players he was watching got hit by a Thundering Wind and we're knocked back... over the cliff edge that leads down to the Jagged Lake.

"Ouch! That's going to hurt", FallingDusk exclaimed as he winced in sympathy for the losing party. "Well it sucks to be them I guess"

As players die depending on what level area they are in can affect how much EXP they can lose. Die in a level 1 area you lose 10% of your overall Exp, but in a level 4 area you lose 40%. So most players try to avoid areas at a higher level then themselves. Unfortunately FallingDusk isn't most players, or even a good player. He is just a guy who tries to do a job even if it kills him.

So he watched the Copper Wings circle where the other players died before flying off in a different direction. So not having anything else planned he followed the large man sized birds.

.....…......

Canyon Falls-Copper Wing Nest

lvl 4-6 area

This shear cliff face had no waterfall but a few barren trees, and the Copper Wings he was following flew down to their nests. about 46 feet below.

"Always wanted to go rock climbing", he muttered as he secured his rope to one of the sturdier trees near the cliff edge and began slowly repelling down the cliff face till he reached an out cropped ledge the he could stand on near the nests. Then not wanting to be caught by another player looking for an easy kill, he selected to have his rope return to his inventory. As of now he had no exit, but would deal with that if he survived this stupid idea.

His plan was pretty simple approach the Copper Wings in a non threatening way and hope the games realism worked In his favor as, these creatures did infact seem intelligent enough.

So as he approached one of the outlying nests, his hands raised and empty The Copper Wing looked up at him and lashed out with it's beak, dealing 38 damage and taking a good quarter of his HP, luckily the bleeding effect didn't trigger.

At this FallingDusk stopped his advance and sat down, "Easy there not trying to fight", he said calmly doing his best to ignore the pain, why did no one inform him that the pain felt real?

His actions did infact confuse the Copper Wing, but not enough to drop it's guard. So FallingDusk took out his trail rations to try and recover his HP.

Trail rations

HP recovery of 3points per sec for 10 seconds.

FallingDusk checked the time and realized how long he had been playing, he needed to log out, unfortunately logging out in the field leaves his body behind as if asleep. So he took a meditatve stance his back against the cliff face, "See you later Copper Wing"

Thus FallingDusk logged out.
