6 Lightning Wyvern

The organization for exceeds. This association is tasked to manage all the exceed guilds in Asia.
However, one single afternoon their alarm sounded.
Beep-beep
"An A-class monster has been spotted in the business district!" The operator was surprised and reported to the head.
"A monster? How did it penetrate to the city without alarming us? Make an emergency mission and hand it to the nearest guilds now!" The head operator commanded. "Also dispatch one A rank squad from the military to deal with it."

Meanwhile, just outside the burger joint was Dark and his friends. Their mouths were opened wide while watching a huge flying monster in the sky.
"What is that thing?" Sera asked.
Dark immediately carried his sister and told them, "No time for questions. Let's hurry and get out of this place fast!"
The people in the district were panicking. Several guards were leading the people to the evacuation center. The military was also fast in responding. Two armored vehicles came and secured the perimeter. One squad escorted the civilians out of the district while another went to keep the flying monster busy.
Dark and his companions finally escaped the district. It took them fifteen minutes of non-stop running to leave the place.
"Dark what was that flying monster?" Tomo asked him while panting.
"That was a lightning wyvern. An A-class monster. I wonder how it arrived in the district. The exceeds should've discovered it way before it flew above us." Dark informed them as he placed his sister down.
"I can't believe the strong aura of that monster. I can't even do anything about it. I'm still too weak." Dark muttered to himself. "S-rank is still far away. I need to do my best." He clenched his fist. He was disappointed of how useless he was in front of that monster.
"Brother are you okay?" Lilia asked him when she saw her brother's expression.
"Brother is fine Lilia." Dark knelt to the height of his sister and pat her head.
"There is no way you are fine…" The worried sister told herself.
"Dark, we should get going. Our parents must have been worried." Tomo and Sera said their farewells and went home together. Apparently, they were neighbors so their heading the same way.
"You guys be careful on your way home." Dark and Lilia bid farewell to their new friends.

Just after Dark and his friends left the burger joint the wyvern crashed to the building.
"Men secure the area. Sgt. Pierce use your Earth Spike to stun him." The man wearing a gold-plated fatigue commanded his subordinate.
A man holding a silver spear with one hand raised his weapon. He charged towards the wyvern. But the wyvern roared and released a bolt made of lightning.
The man dodged the bolt with a jump. He charged at the wyvern without stopping. The spear then glowed and the man pierced it to the ground 5 meters away from the monster. Earth then moved creating a fissure. Then earth spikes rose from the ground piercing the wyvern.
"Aoooo." The wyvern cried as it felt pain. It struggled to get out. But a barrage of fire bullets hit him.
The man wearing the gold fatigue then ran towards the wyvern. He reached out his hand and a giant axe appeared. "Echo Splitter!" He smashed the head of the wyvern. The monsters body vibrated due to the force from the axe. After the third vibration, the wyvern stopped moving and dropped onto the ground.
"Captain, the wyvern is now dead!" A soldier reported.
"Something is weird here. That wyvern was already wounded when we arrived. Could it be someone took it on before us or someone injured it and placed it here without getting detected?" The captain pondered about the strange happening.
"Be sure to clean everything up. That wyvern will give us a huge reward. Make sure to handle it with care." The captain instructed his subordinates and went inside the armored vehicle.
The soldiers were taking the materials of the wyvern. Its scales are used as armor and the teeth are used as weapons. The meat was also a delicious delicacy for the wealthy.
"Oh… is everything done? It seems we are late." A man wearing a black armor landed. Together with him are 4 other people wearing the same kind of gear.
"We really are late. What a waste of time." The girl with them complained. She pouted her face. It was clear that she was disappointed.
"Mind your manners. You guys should be glad that the matter has been dealt quickly." A serious man who seemed to be leader told them. "There is nothing to be done here. Let's go back."
"Yes leader!" All five of the flew back and left the district.
The five people who just left were rankers. There are two divisions for exceeds. First is the common ranks which are divided into 4 classes, the C, B, A, and S. The second division are the rankers. To become a ranker, one must reach the minimum requirement of S-class. Then they are required to take a very harsh exam. The applicant must also have a record of killing a minimum of 100 A-class monsters alone.
The existence of rankers is hidden from common people. Thus, most applicants like Dark only know the ceiling known as S-rank Exceed.

When Dark and Lilia arrived at their house, Dark turned the television on. There on the screen was a news report on what happened in the business district.
"They finally killed that wyvern." Dark breathed a sigh out of relief. "I need to get strong fast."
Lilia was holding her toy while using her phone. She took a picture together with her new toy.
"Hey little kid what are you doing there." Dark asked her when he noticed the flash created by the phone camera.
"Brother, I posted a photo in my AnimaGram.?" She cheerfully bragged and showed her phone to her brother as if nothing happened a while ago.
"AnimaGram?" Dark asked her again.
"It is a phone app for sharing photos with others. My classmate told me about this during breaktime." She informed him.
"Ohhh…" Dark wondered why children of her age are so adept in using phones. She only got it another day and now she is now used to it. She must have studied the phone manual, he thought.
