15 First Tower

Ring! Ring! Ring!

The moment Dark stepped out of the artifact his phone rang.

"Hello?" Dark answered his phone.

"Dark? Where have you been? Why weren't you answering your phone? We were worried sick about you kids!" An old man can be heard ranting inside the phone.

"Grandpa we are fine. I forgot my phone inside the house when we evacuated." Dark told a little lie to the worried old man.

"Where is Lilia? My wife wants to talk to her."

Dark then handed his phone to his sister. While Lilia was talking through the phone, Dark and Cya talked.

"Cya the nearest tower is just located two hours away from here. Should we go there directly? I think the authorities will crowd there." Dark asked the little silkie.

"Yes, the sooner the better. It would be to our advantage if you can get a head start."

It was already morning when they came out. Dark was worried that the transportation system in the country wouldn't be running because of what happened. But since there were a lot of people worried about their relatives they have been fixing the hover bus system. The restoration of the system did not take that long and after an hour of waiting they rode a bus to reach the nearest tower.

The tower was located at a plain. After two hours they reached a town near the tower. They walked half an hour to reach their destination.

Contrary to Dark's expectation, the tower was not heavily guarded by the government. No one was around.

"It seems that no one is here." Cya commented upon seeing the environment. "Let's head inside."

The siblings followed the flying silkie and went to the door. The door opened as they reached near it. However, Dark and Lilia were not able to see anything inside it.

"Just come inside and you'll see." Cya went inside first and the siblings followed.

.

Inside the first floor of a tower was huge. There was a receptionist behind the main table. The female who was standing behind the table had long pointy ears and blond hair.

"An elf." Words came out from Dark's mouth as he saw the receptionist

"Welcome citizens of dimension Earth!" The elf bowed her head. "A silkie?" She cocked her head when she saw Cya flying when the three of them approached the reception desk.

"Hello, I would like to register these two kids." Cya told the receptionist.

"I understand." The elf nodded. "I was told that this dimension only comprises of humans. What is a silkie doing here?" She was curious.

"Just nothing special." Cya brushed off the topic.

The elf faked a cough, "Anyway, welcome to Dawn Tower. I didn't expect for humans to reach here fast. I guess that silkie told you about the towers. Would you like an introduction or not?"

"Yes please." Dark nodded.

"This tower comprises of a hundred floors. Each floor has a corresponding dimension. To reach the next floor, one must find the floor room. Each floor room is guarded by a floor master. Each floor also has its own safe zone. In the first floor and floors that are divisible by 5 will have a city. While the others only have a small town." The elf told them. "There are monsters outside the safe zone. You need to be careful. Just proceed to that door over there to go to the first floor."

"Thanks for the info." Dark and Lilia bowed in gratitude and went to the door. But the elf stopped them.

"Before I forget, take this. This is your identification card. This can also track if you are still alive or not." The elf handed them two small cards. "You can also store currency dropped by the monsters here. The currency used in this tower is different than the ones you have in your dimension. Also, don't forget not to violate any of the rules in the city or town. Well, you can just learn from the guards when you arrive there."

"Best of luck!" The elf smiled as she bowed.

The three went to the door that was pointed by the elf earlier. They went inside and found themselves in a huge bustling city.

"Welcome to First City!" Two knights welcomed the squad. "We are here to guide you newcomers to the guild. Please follow us."

One of the knights stayed at the entrance while the other guided them to the guild. It took them less than five minutes to reach the guild. It was a four-story building. The door was open and above the door a sign 'Adventurers' Guild' can be seen.

"You guys head inside. The desk officer will teach you the guidelines." The knight told them and left to return to the entrance.

"Thanks Mister Knight." Lilia bowed her head and went inside the building together with her brother and silkie.

"Welcome to the Adventurers' Guild!" A bulky man full of smiles greeted them as they entered the guild.

"Good Morning Sir, we are here to register." Dark told the desk officer.

"I didn't expect that the first one to arrive here were children Hahaha! Kid give me your cards and I'll register you to the guild."

Dark and Lilia gave their cards to the man. The man took it from them then placed the cards in a device that was powered by a crystal. After a couple of seconds, the man returned the cards to the owners. However, the cards changed their color. It became white.

"Here are your cards. There is a ranking in this guild that you need to remember. From lowest to highest: white, green, yellow, red, blue, black. After the black there would be gold. But gold means that you have conquered this tower." The man explained. "You can raise your rank by earning Quest Points or qp for short. You can get it from quests posted here or from gaining achievements."

The man took his card and showed it to the siblings.

"Try tapping your card with your finger." He tapped his and a screen suddenly appeared in front of him. Then he waved his hand to show his screen to the siblings. "This is what you call Character Screen. Here you can find your stats, achievements and other important things. You can also edit this and block your other information if you want to hide it from others. As you can see here, you can only see this part as questions marks instead of numerals and other characters. Also, it is already automated that the data shown will be translated to your language. So, you don't have to worry about not understanding others."

He tapped his card again and the screen went out. The siblings tapped theirs and checked their character screens.

"It is rare to see newbies having a lot of skills. Did this little silkie teach you a thing or two?" The man asked as he was bewildered by the scene. Even though he can't see the specifics, just having a long list made it unbelievable.

"Yes, I taught them some minor things." The silkie stuck her chest out in pride.

"If you want to take a job just go to the next floor and ask the desk officer there. They are in charge, of the job system here."
