5 First Day of Class

"How are the incoming students for this year?" An old man who was playing with his beard asked as he was looking at the wave of students going inside the main hall.

"Chairman, our harvest is bountiful this year. There were many students who showed good potential." His female secretary replied while handing him the data of the notable students.

The chairman scanned the data he received. "Ho? Such little girl bested the record we have for the speed test?" He continued to scroll down the data when he noticed. "Perfect in the theory exam? Isn't this the first time since the birth of our school, Lara?"

"Yes chairman. The theory exam this year was supposed to be close to impossible to perfect. However, someone was able to answer the last three questions that you yourself prepared." Lara his secretary went over the exam results as she replied to the chairman's question.

"There are only three people in this world who knows the answers of these three questions. I wonder who this kid is." The old man sat down his chair and wondered.

"Chairman it is almost time for the opening ceremony. We need to go to the main hall."

Among the huge crowd sitting inside the main hall was our protagonist, Dark. It was now his first day of school and the first thing he needed to do is to attend the opening ceremony.

The ceremony was boring for most of the students as well as teachers. Teachers of different subjects were introduced to the new students. Each teacher gave a short message to the crowd. The whole event lasted two hours.

After the event, Dark went to his new classroom. He knew where to go thanks to the guide given to the students beforehand. When he arrived at the room he saw that his classmates were already inside chatting with each other. As Dark doesn't want to bother anyone he immediately sat down an empty chair in the front row near the electronic board.

While waiting for the teacher to arrive a classmate of his approached him.

"Excuse me. Is someone sitting here?" A black-haired girl with glasses politely asked.

"No. It is not taken. Please feel free to occupy it." Dark replied.

The girl covered her mouth with her hand and introduced herself, "Oh! I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Sera, Sera Titania."

"The name is Dark. Nice to meet you Sera." Dark returned her introduction.

"Sera! I see that you arrived earlier than me." A short haired tomboy-like girl waved her hand at Sera.

"Tomo, you are as late as always huh? tee-hee." Sera laughed at her.

"Oh, who is that guy? Is he perhaps…" The girl called Tomo, asked Sera but she then interjected.

"It's not what you think. I was just asking if the seat next to him was vacant." Sera declined whatever Tomo might be thinking.

"Oh. I see…" She looked at the boy beside Sera. "Hey, I'm Tomo. Sera's buddy. What's your name?" she asked him.

"My name is Dark. It is a pleasure to meet you Tomo." Dark returned her greeting.

The bell rang as Dark introduced himself. The students immediately took their seats when they saw a teacher at the door.

"Good Morning Class! I'm Miss Alleria. I will be your adviser for this class. I teach basic combat classes as well as basic scouting classes. It is my pleasure to be assigned here."

After introducing herself, Miss Alleria taught to them the important school rules as a basic orientation. Then she asked them to introduce themselves to each other. Since regular classes will start the next day, they only have half day classes.

"Remember to not be late tomorrow. The class is dismissed."

Dark was preparing himself to go and fetch his sister. He was going outside when Sera and Tomo approached him.

"Dark are you going home? Wanna go stop by a near a burger joint or something?" Tomo invited him.

"I need to go fetch my little sister. I'll have to refuse for today." Dark politely refused.

"So Dark has a sister!" Sera clapped her hands upon knowing. "Why not bring her with us? I think a lass like her would enjoy."

"Well, I need to ask her if she wants." Dark used his pointer to scratch his face.

Lilia agreed to join them in going to the burger joint. She was excited as it was her first time to go in one.

"One deluxe meal please. Also add some cola." Tomo ordered. "What do you guys want?"

"One super meal with large cola." Sera told her.

"Brother! Brother! Can I order a kiddie meal? It comes with a cute doll." Lilia begged her big brother to get her one.

"Make sure to finish it okay?" Dark patted his sister's head.

It would be the first toy that she will have. Their parents never gave them toys to play with. Instead, they gave them books and videos to study. Luckily, siblings were not bored in studying. It seems that studying runs in their blood.

After they ordered, they sat on a table near the window. They talked about a few things. It was the first time for Dark and Lilia to go out with their friends. They were quite nervous. Thankfully, Tomo and Sera have no problem with making the conversation flow. Dark only shared that they do not go out often. To remove any kind of suspicion from the two since it was quite common for high class families to shelter their sons and daughters away from society.

Gulp. Gulp. Gulp.

Dark finished his cola. He looked at everyone and seeing that everybody finished their meal, he was about to tell them that it was time for them to go home when.

Rumble rumble rumble…

The ground started shaking. Everyone in the room was startled. It was common since the calamity to have earthquakes. However, due to the help of exceeds, this city was protected from all sorts of common disaster.

Something must have happened!

All the people ducked down the table and as the shaking stopped, they went outside the shop.

Dark grabbed his sister's hand and immediately went outside.

ROAR!

The sky was dark. The street lights were blinking on and off. The clouds gave birth to lightning and these thunders roared. When Dark looked up his face became frightened.

"What the hell is going on?"
