1 01 When It All Started

"Hualing ah, you are not doing your job well. Do you want to be called again to the office and have your salary deducted?"

Hualing's supervisor yelled again even though he was in front of her. His spit flew out of his mouth like spray. If she was not standing a meter away, she was sure that those spit would cover all of her face.

Dead eyes looking very unconcerned at the man's insults to her as if the person he was insulting was someone else.

'Yes, yes. You are a pig, I know that. You don't have to yell and expose it to the world like you are some golden pig ah! Tch.' She thought to herself as she stood still by her table before lowering her eyes.

"Yes, Sir Ling. I'll go overtime (like always) and fix this (for you, you damn shtty pig)." She replied with a tone of respect (not).

"Good." Supervisor Ling nodded his head a couple of times in satisfaction. He had already knew that she would say something like this. She was afraid of him. She was afraid of losing her job. She was just too gullible even though her face looked so boring and lifeless that it makes him sick. But he has to make do of this dull woman and do his bidding. She's useful.

He adjusted his coat with a winning smile on his oily and meaty face. "I'll expect these corrected papers with correct accounting at my table tomorrow."

After he said that, he left contentedly with loud and heavy footsteps as he made his way toward his little office to get to go home. He had finally tossed that troublesome project to another person. If the client won't accept it and made trouble to him, he can push Hualing forward and push the blame on her. But if the clients loves it, then that would be a different story.

He giddily walked out of the office with the pressure lifted off his back.

Hualing looked at her supervisor. She does not see him as a human being, she can only see a pig in a suit. No. That would be so rude to pigs since they are cute. So she does not know what this mammal this supervisor was.

She nodded her head and just labelled Supervisor Ling as a round piece of shi...meat.

"Ugh." Hualing groaned and slumped down on her chair. She looked at the financial statement on her hand for a moment before tossing it carelessly on her table.

'Damn that round man. He could not even make a simple accounting. How did he become a supervisor?' She groaned again before grabbing her cup and downed the remaining coffee.

"Tch. It's already cold." Her lips twitched and glared hatefully at her empty cup.

Then, she heard a laugh behind her. "Hualing, why did you even accept that? You know that Supervisor Ling is just tossing it to you but never gave credit to you."

Hualing turned around with her chair and crossed her arms over her chest. She looked at the woman with a helpless look on her face before rolling her eyes.

"Then Feifei, why not do it for me?" Hualing moved closed to Feifei with her eyes shining and pleading while holding her hands. "Please?"

"Yeah right. I won't fall for your tricks anymore. You accepted it, you work on it." Feifei immediately rejected and pulled her hand.

'This Hualing...she really makes me worried for her.' Feifei thought. She felt that she was looking after her younger sister when the said person was a little older than her.

"What? Why?"

Feifei smiled brightly and her cheeks were flushed. She averted her eyes from Hualing's probing eyes, looking very shy.

"So you are meeting someone? Your boyfried." Hualing pointed out with a flat tone. She sighed in defeat and waved her hand to get the infatuated woman away from her. "Shoo. Get away from me now. I don't want to see you anymore."

Hualing twisted her chair again to face her table and went to grab the unfinished report. She did not want to see Feifei's face anymore as she felt betrayed.

'Damn it. Why can't I also find a man? This boring life and boring work sucked all of my energy and maybe my luck was included. Why? I also want to grab a man ah!' She ferociously typed on her keyboard with fire in her eyes.

She vented her anger and frustration on every type she made on the keyboard. Her focus were now solely on the monitor and numbers in it.

Feifei, who was deliberately ignored by Hualing, can only sigh at the stubborn back of her friend.

"I also want to accompany you but today, I just can't do it. I have a d-date." She coughed awkwardly to hide her embarrassment before continuing. "Anyway, I promise I'll make it up to you."

"Yeah. You do that and buy me some packed lunch tomorrow." Hualing said through gritted teeth and tapped on the keys of her keyboard like she was stabbing on it.

'This is because of that shtty bastrd that I could not meet a man. Because of him, I always have to go overtime just to save his fcking btt.' Hualing grinded her teeth hatefully and glared at the numbers before her.

"Okay. Thanks, Ling'er. I know you understand me. I'll definitely buy you lunch tomorrow." Feifei immediately agreed with flushed cheeks. Before Hualing could say anything more, Feifei had already run off in escape.

The office was dark and empty. It was almost silent aside from the fierce tapping on the keyboard of Hualing. The sun had already disappeared and was slowly replaced with a huge new moon with a reddish glow in it.

Hours ticked by and finally Hualing finished revising the papers. She printed it, binded, and slammed it on top of Supervisor Ling's table.

Her eyes then turned to look at the time on the wall clock and her eyes widdened in shock. It was already one o'clock?!

'Fck. It's already this late?!' Damn. She did not expect that it would take her five whole hours to finish it. How can that supervisor of hers made a lot of mistakes? It would have been more productive if that person gave the project to her in the first place if he can't even do the basics.

It really was annoying.

Hualing quickly gathered her things, turned off the lights and got out of the building. As soon as she stepped out, skin was immediately hit by a soft blowing of the cold night air that made her shiver down her spine.

Her eyes looked around and saw that there were only a couple of people walking about, maybe the same as her, working overtime.

Hualing tightened her jacket around her and started walking back to her apartment. Her eyes were dull and very bored. Nothing in this world seemed to have grabbed her interest. She felt so detached from this world. She felt like she did not belong.

She stopped for a moment and tilted her red face up to watch the dark sky. To her surprise, she can't see any stars. On the sky, there was only the huge moon hanging on top of her with a reddish glow in it. It was dazzling.

Hualing deeply sighed as she resumed to walk aimlessly on the path she always took every single day.

"Psst. Lady."

*Ignore*

"Psst. Hey, the pretty lady over there. Can you hear me?"

Hualing turned to the direction that sound came from fleetingly. It was a given that women liked to be called "pretty" and she was no exception of that.

There she saw a smiling old woman sitting on a wooden chair in a corner near a dark alleyway. She did not think much as she wanted to ignore her. But before she could take another step away from the old woman, a hand had grabbed her arm and stopped her advance.

"Are you tired of living your boring life? Do you want to start anew? A life more fulfilling and fun?"

"Yes, I'm bored as fck. I just wish I'd drop dead right now and rid of this boring shtty life."

And she did.

The old woman smiled meaningfully at Hauling who had suddenly collapsed on the street, her eyes still half closed while looking at the old woman.

She gasped for air so hard as her heart beat so loudly in her chest.

"You...! What...did you do...to me?" She weakly asked in between her breaths as her consciousness slowly fades.

The old woman crouched down beside her and touched Hualing's face before letting out an eerie chuckle that numbed Hualing's head.

"This was your wish and all I did was fulfill it."

Hualing looked at her with resentment. "You...fcking old...hag. If I wake up and get better, I will definitely...kill you."

"Yes, yes." The old woman smiled brightly at this, her eyes sparkling with amusement. Her eyes were glowing as if the eyes did not belong to an old woman's. "That is, if you can."

"..." Hualing's consciousness slowly faded into darkness but before she was fully consumes by it, she heard her say something she did not fully understand.

"My dear Hualing. No, should I call you Elliana Rae Montebourg?" She chuckled again. And that was the last thing she heard after succumbing into the deep abyss full of endless darkness.
