On the 2nd day of try outs the coach had them all do physical exercises for an hour this time.

then he had the boys split up into to 2 teams of 15 for a 5 inning game.

Jace went to team 2 and started out at center field. the first inning he cought 2 fly balls for 2 of the 3 outs.

He went up to bat first and hit a tripple while every one else was arguing about the batting order.

Sadly the next three players struck out. The 2nd inning no balls were hit to him and the other team scored 2 runs. His team went 3 up 3 down. Jace took over pitching starting the 3rd inning.

Since they didnt have a battery mode they settled for jus using 3 pitches this game 4seam fork and a curve. The first batter got put down on all fast balls that went high and inside. The 2nd batter fouled off 2 curves then swung on a low and away fork ball. The third popped up a curve to the catcher on the first pitch.

The first batter on his team got on with a blooper over 1st and the 2nd one got walked. After 13 pitches to Jace the count was full he fouled off 10 of them just so he wouldnt be walked but 3 of them were to far for his reach to even try and hit.

The 14th pitch was a fast ball that was thrown around chest height and a little outside witch Jace hit a line drive between 2nd and 3rd getting him a double and letting the other 2 score.

The next batter got hit by a pitch Team 1 then changed pitchers and the next 3 all hit pop flys. In the 4th inning the first 2 swung at low and inside curve balls on the first pit both grounding out to the short stop. The 3rd batter missed the first 2 pitches witch were both fork balls one high and inside the next low and inside.

The next pitch was a curve that ended up in the middle of the plate making the batter hit the ball right back at Jace witch was cought for the 3rd out Team 2 sadly went 3 up and 3 down again. The coach had Jace sub out for the rest of the game.

Team 1 ended up winning 5 to 3. The coach then let 14 of the players go leaving them with 16 players for varsity.

The 16 players were

2 Catchers

1 First baseman

2 Second basemens

2 Short stops

1 Third baseman

1 Left Fielder

1 Right fielder

2 Center fielder

4 Pitchers only

The coach told them they had to the middle of February to get completely in shape and to fight for their individual positions.

When Theo and Jace got home the whole family celebrated Jace making the team.

The month went by fast and positions on the team were finalized. Jace was the ace and there was no disagreement after he shut out the rest of his team in one of the practices they had, but the coach only had him starting on what he called VIP Games this way he stayed rested and the other pitchers would still get to develop. Jace will start in center field and close out any close game they may have and most the time he would bat 3rd witch became his favorite spot.
