It's the end of July, five months since Renji's Genin Team formed.
The sea breeze is chillier, as a cold front comes down from the North, but it doesn't bother much of Whirlpool's inhabitants. The populace brushes it off as simply a blip, an anomaly on their usually nice climate.
The atmosphere between Renji and Tatsu who was another member of the team and a genin; is as chilly as the air, when the older boy reveals that it was his birthday the day before, but Renji hadn't even said a word to him.
"Ah, forgive me, Tatsu-san," Renji says, rubbing the back of his head bashfully, stalling for time. Inside, he's scrambling, wondering what he's supposed to do.
"I'm not very good at keeping up with the days. Happy birthday," he simply says, handing the boy some wrapped candy he had shoved in one of his pant's pockets at some point in the past. Probably as a form of bribery when he trailed after Kushina, no doubt.
Tatsu drops the candy in disgust and stalks away.
Renji sighs, frowning and clucking his tongue, bending down to pick up the rejected sweets.
He'd already apologized for missing Tatsu's birthday and tried to reconcile with him. There was no reason for the boy to be so scathing.
When Asada, who was another member of their team and a genin, birthday came just two weeks later, Renji was sure to remember to tell her happy birthday.
As he pulled out a wad of self-made explosive tags to give her as a last minute present, he could feel Tatsu's glare on his back.
"Seriously? Explosive tags from your pouch? That's a lazy-ass present," the older boy says venomously.
"Tatsu-kun! That's enough, Renji-Kun already, said he is not good enough to keep up with dates, and you need to understand that", said Asada

"No but, we, are a team, and we all have to understand That", Asada, the voice of the reason in the team and the one who kept them together

Renji and his team were scouts, just like every other genin team...they were not allowed to fight
But Renji and his team was special...after all Renji was a natural Born Sensor
"Hurry...the Kiri shinobi are flanking from the right", yelled Tatsu
"Tch...everyone is fighting, they will not be able to stop it...", said Renji
"Wait...What are you trying to do? why are you taking your staff out", asked Asada
"If Kiri flank us from the right, we are doom, and besides Jonin are fighting in the battlefield, these people here, are Chunnins", reasoned Renji
"Then we will go with you", finally said Tetsu

"Renji, your opinion does not matter right now, we are going as a team", said Asada

Renji fly over the land shooting what looks to be sonar waves out of his Twin Dragon Cannons and once they make contact with the earth they create a huge tidal wave of Earth, mud, and Rock to bury the opponent with massive force.. its a very inaccurate move but with the large width of attack and massive force it makes up for that weakness.
And besides, when the enemy is faster than you...a wide range attack is far better...

3 Shinobis was buried with that single attack...
But An attack with such a large scale, the chunnins who were flanking from the right turned to face Renji...
He grinned...as Kiri shinobis bombard Renji with jutsu
"Suiton: Suiryūdan no Jutsu" (Water Style: Water Dragon Jutsu), came a simultaneous Yell as 10 Water Dragons made their way towards Renji

An earth wall with tremendous speed popped up from the earth, but the earth wall was different from the existing earth walls
It was covered in seals, the earth wall was tremendously sturdy But even it can't take on... 10 Water Dragons.

The Earth wall covered entirely in seals got broken and the Water dragons hit Renji

A huge loud explosion took place, and 10 chunnins were turned to dust...
"Did it work?", asked Asada who was healing Renji (That's why you need a healer in every team)
Tetsu sneaked past and using the distraction caused by Renji, he was able to place explosion seals around Kiri shinobis, who were pre-occupied and deadly tired with all the fight
"guessed it worked after all...", Tetsu grinned

Renji: "WATCH OUT..ONE OF THEM SURVIVED"
Only for his eyes widened up second later
A small water ball created a hole in Asada's head who was healing him

Only for a second Later, a sword pierced through Tetsu...
"NOOOOOOO"
Both Asada and Tetsu died... Just one moment of their careless mistake and they are gone
Kiri shinobi tried to move towards Renji but a sword pierced the Kiri shinobi as another Uzu Shinobi came behind him.
The Tears fell from Renji's eyes...

"Renji, my son....Please.....take care of your mother and little sister, please protect them both; I know that you can", said a bloodied mighty looking red hair guy; as he coughed the blood and said again in a shivering and crying voice- "I am sorry son even in my last breath... all I am doing is asking you to do this old man a favor; I don't have anything to give to you..... I just hope you can wear this headband in the future as my payment for all the time you are going to face in the future because of my selfish request, and my hope!"
The tears fall down from Renji's cheeks, as he put the old and tattered Headband of Second Uzukage, while he picked him up and moved back to the village...
The Moment decided to wear the old headband of Uzukage, he accepted his will, that even he didn't understand, but the now third Uzukage understood, and he nodded to himself.
That headband was not just a last memory for a father to a son, it was an order, to third Uzukage, and everyone important...
Uzumaki Renji was to be deemed as Fourth Uzukage...as per the Absolute orders from Lord Second
Mean While, the Uzu Village got covered in a mist and terrifying traps, made with jutsu, for another attack to come.
It was just 6 months and he already lost his entire Genin team...and He lost his father
He never Called the old man, father, despite him always telling him to do so...
He regretted it...for that old man was nothing less than that of a father to him
And just like every other Uzumaki, he believed that after today, another attack won't come
He believed...He hopes so...He wanted to Hope so...
But none knew...the deep trouble going around in the mainland, as the combined forces of different nations were preparing for the massacre of Uzushiogakure
