1 Prologue - I See The World As It Is

(I highly recommend reading the prologue.)

My parents named me Aiden, which meant "little fire" in Irish mythology. It suited well for a surname like "Laste" which meant to endure. They wanted me to be a little fire, enduring through the realistic pain of life.

It's funny, because I didn't endure school for long. I dropped out, and started writing realism novels. It suited me because I liked writing, and I liked realism.

Realism. My favorite genre. Where you get to see the unbiased sides of things. Where events are realistic and portrays truthful stories without dramatizing everything.

It was hard for me to gain popularity because of the extreme detail I wrote my novels in.

Now I'm lying on my bed, tired from all the excitement I had today. I was in total serenity and relief. What happened you ask? Well, my novels are getting monetized! I can earn money from doing the thing I love. I was happy beyond belief and after emailing back and forth, my request is pending for approval.

But as a the most popular realism genre writer, I know the truth. I know the small cash writers actually make, and the constant stress to write and publish chapter, after chapter, after chapter. The world's genre is realism, and realism was never meant to be easy.

But still, like my last name, I will endure.

"But oh my god, I'm exhausted!"

I say with a tired grin on my face. I fall onto my bed and stare at the ceiling. I knew just how much I suffered for this.

Even then, I am still grateful because realism is everywhere on earth! Everyday life was calm and mundane. Don't get me wrong, I dislike boredom, but I'm still grateful for the little things in life. The world's genre is realism after all...

At least it was...

Then, towers started appearing, and people started getting skills and a game-like system. It seemed like it was straight out of a fantasy novel. And maybe it is- maybe the world's genre changed from realism to fantasy. This might be any otaku's dream, but unlike most people, I wasn't a fan.

However, just because the genre changed, doesn't mean I will stop looking at the world with rationality. When the towers started appearing, his debt didn't magically disappear, his dad didn't come back from the dead, and his weak shut-in body didn't either.

The world still has its realistic edge, just with a side of fantasy. It has to be.

"This isn't realistic. Towers filled to the brim with monsters, an inventory that can hold countless items, a system to magically upgrade stats, all these fantasy elements just appeared out of thin air! It logically doesn't make sense."

I had a perplexed look on my face.

"I will get to the bottom of this. By getting to the top."
