1 CHAPTER 1 A NEW BEGINNING IN A NEW SCHOOL

THIRD PERSON POV

It's a beautiful summer morning in Sumville. The trees dance according to the rhymes of the cool and gentle breeze. Beautiful bright yellow birds are seen on a tree singing a melodious song that no one else but them knows what it means.

"Hey! Ralph wait for me." Tim yelled at Ralph who was across the alley about to go to school.

"Wassup buddy" Ralph greeted Tim as he got closer.

"I'm good man and you"

"Same here"

They trekked to the bus terminal and waited for two minutes before their arrived, boarded it and voom!! on their way to school.

"Hey you two, come over here". Mrs Hutch called Ralph and Tim over to her office. Mrs Hutch is the principal of Sumville high school.

"Good morning ma'am". They both greeted in unison.

"Yes, good morning. Now you two carry those files to the librarian".

"Yes ma'am". They both replied while carrying the stacks of files.

EDETH POV

I'm Edeth, a Nigerian who got scholarship into Sumville high school. Things has been really hard for me after my parents died in an autocrash few years back. I struggled to see myself through my junior school days. I don't like boasting but I would rather say I've a very high IQ which gained me the scholarship.

I do live alone in a shabby apartment. Thank God today is a brand new day and I believe it would be better than other days. I hurriedly took my bath dressed up in my white uniform shirt and a white-brown check flay skirt. I packed my hair in a ponytail, well I don't have a feast of breakfast so I go with some oatmeal and milk.

Whoa!, I'm through. I checked myself once more before putting on my school foot wear, carried my back pack and my phone. Although it's just 7:30am and school starts by 8am, I can't afford to be late on my first day, and besides the school isn't far from here so I decided to trek it to kill some time.

**********FIFTEEN MINUTES LATER**********

Behold Sumville high school, Wow! it's really big and beautiful. I stood still while admiring the school.

"Isn't that a blackie?"

"What is a black girl doing in this school?"

That brought me back to reality. I looked round only to see some students staring at me as if they just saw an alien. I was a bit embarrassed but quickly composed myself and walked to the direction of the principal's office with the help of my G-map (google map).

I was greatly embarrassed with the way students were staring at me, immediately I got to the principal's office I drew a deep breath before knocking.

"Yes come in". I heard a feminine voice say, after which I walked into the office.

" Good morning ma'am" I greeted immediately I got in. She slowly raised her head, at first I saw this unbelievable look on her face before she could even wipe it off.

"Morning, yes how may I help you"

"Ma'am I'm here in relations to the scholarship admissions"

"Ok, are you with your letter and form"

"Yes ma'am"

"Let me have them"

I hurriedly opened my bag, brought out a brown envelope and handed it over to her. While she was going through the letters, I quickly scanned her office and saw on her desk a name tag on which Mrs Hutch is written.

Afterwards I did some paperwork then she gave me my class number.

"You're in class 1a"

"Ok ma'am, Thank you"

"You may go"

"Thank you ma'am"

Oh thank God those students with their piercing eyes has gone.
