5 Hello!

Chapter 5: Hello!

"Oh! Liz is heading over here!" Gigi's mom sounded delighted to see her 'second daughter' and even tightened the way she was holding Gigi's hand.

Gigi had this conspiracy theory where her mom loved Liz more than herself. When she told that theory to Liz, she roared with laughter. But, in Gigi's head, it made sense. If she ever did any of the things Liz did, her mom wouldn't have been really pleased no matter how open-minded or understanding she was.

Every step Liz took closer to Gigi felt like an eternity, almost like if she was walking in slow motion. Gigi's hands were uncontrollably shaking and her brain was not working correctly, as if she couldn't even react in the way she wanted to. Why did Liz still had that effect on her?

"Hi!" Liz stood in front of Gigi's table and they all shared an uncomfortable silence. Gigi did not know what to answer, even though it was a pretty easy thing.

"Liz! I haven't seen you in two months I almost felt like I was never going to see you again!" Sarah was so dramatic; Gigi had no choice but to roll her eyes once again and she saw Liz giggling, she just knew they were thinking the same thing.

"Geeg, don't be rude, go give Liz some love, you two hadn't seen each other in what? Three years?" Gigi was not happy at all and was kind of ashamed but she still walked to where Liz was standing and hugged her. The smell of Liz's perfume was her favorite thing ever and noticing that it hadn't changed made Gigi twinkle. It was a pretty uncomfortable hug, one of the ones you give your old cousins when they come to visit you once a year but Gigi felt like she could literally release the air she had been holding for three years, like everything was back into its place and she was living her own fairytale again, yet she hated feeling like that. She hated that everything was so out of nowhere, that she had no preparation for it. The perks of being a control freak.

Liz returned the hug and she felt at home around Gigi's arms though she immediately regretted thinking that. She tried not to hold on too tight but then she remembered that she hadn't hugged Gigi in years and she lowkey wanted to enjoy that physical contact with her. She was feeling a lot of emotions at the same time. She was angry as hell because of what she did to her, she was happy because she was finally seeing her after years (even if she had been denying missing Gigi for a lot of time) and she felt relieved.

The hug lasted less than a minute and, even if they hated to admit it, they did not want to let go, they felt as if they were levitating and the whole world around them had disappeared, like it always happened when they were friends back then.

"Hi, Liz. It's been a while." Gigi pretended to be unbothered by the situation. Being cold was her way of protecting herself and Liz knew that and did not take it too personal.

"Yeah, I did not notice that you left three years ago. Time flies when you stay here." Liz wasn't good at pretending to be unbothered but she decided that she was going to try her best. If that was a war, Liz was winning it. They were at her house, her hometown (because Liz never left), Gigi's family adored Liz and she was holding her girlfriends' hand right in front of Gigi, it was her victory.

"Hi, I'm Delilah, Elizabeth's girlfriend. It's so good to finally meet you, Gigi." Delilah was the most beautiful girl Gigi had ever seen. Well, after Liz. She had the most symmetric and perfect face ever, full of freckles, the perfect nose and penetrating green eyes, a nice body full of curves yet the tiniest waist and a beautiful electric blue hair. Liz and her were the perfect match. And the worst part was that she seemed genuinely nice. Gigi wanted to die; she just knew she was going to compare herself with her as soon as she got home.

"Hi, Delia. Finally?" Gigi had obviously heard her name right, but a little bit of annoyance never killed nobody. Liz looked even better from where she was standing and Gigi felt the need to run away in that moment, she couldn't handle Liz's beauty.

"Yeah, Liz told me a lot about you. You grew up together and all that stuff, right? Am I talking to the wrong person?" Delilah looked at Liz trying to get help but Liz felt as if she was floating in outer space, like her brain had decided to temporally shut down and not work anymore. Gigi Geffrey was right there in front of her with her bossy looks, her perfect eyeliner, her long legs and her perfect smile. It had to be a joke.

"No baby, you're not. This is Gigi Geffrey, my friend who moved to LA." Baby. Did Liz say baby? Gigi almost fell to the ground. She definitely was the jealous type and did not have any problems admitting it. However, she did not have the right to be jealous, not right there, not with Liz, not right then.

"So, how's LA? I've always wanted to go." As much as Gigi really wanted to be jealous and hate on Delilah, after talking with her for a couple of minutes she realized that was going to be a hard task. She was a sweetheart and was really trying hard for Gigi to like her.

Liz just couldn't talk. She was shocked and felt really anxious around Gigi. After all, they could pretend to be old friends, but Gigi broke her heart. She obviously did not tell that to her girlfriend, every time she mentioned Gigi, it was with a good thing to say about her since Liz thought that holding any negative feelings against Gigi was a waste of time, but she was still hurt. And Delilah was also kind of the jealous kind, so she preferred to hide 'bad and abandoner Gigi' and present her as 'old friend Gigi'.

"Those trousers you're wearing look really good, Gigi. Where did you buy them?" Delilah asked with a full smile on her face. Something about Delilah did not sit right with Gigi, she seemed really fake or so she liked to think. She couldn't be that pretty and that kind, something needed to be bad about her.

"Oh, I made them myself! Last week actually, it took a while but I really like them. Thank you." It was true, Gigi had spent the whole week trying to make them perfect because if she did not her professor was going to make her fail and she couldn't deal with failure. They were white tight trousers that were wide open at the end.

"You do look really good, Gigi" Liz agreed and Gigi tried not to smile but couldn't help it, was Liz complementing her? Was that really happening? She felt like it was all part of a joke, maybe Liz wanted to laugh at her for what she had done to her.

"You look really good too, Liz. You still have the same essence as you always had, it's comforting." Gigi pointed out. Her words seemed to be getting out of her mouth without consulting her brain first. Comforting? Luckily, Liz just nodded.

Liz looked around, Jayla was staring at them as if she had just seen a ghost, Liz was sure she couldn't believe what was happening and, to be honest, she couldn't believe it either.

"Well? I hope you have fun today! It was nice seeing you after all this time." Liz was about to turn around, still holding her girlfriend's hand when Gigi said:

"Perhaps we can catch up later? I would really like to, you know, talk to you? If that's possible?" Gigi felt anxious. Pretending to be a cold person was exhausting but being vulnerable was worse. Liz just said "sure" and finally walked away.

Gigi really wanted to make things up with Liz. The only fear she had, was that the butterflies were going to appear in her stomach again if she had any kind of relationship with her, and she thought that having feelings for Liz was something she did not have to worry about ever again. At the same time, it was not like the butterflies on her stomach were not present in that exact moment. And also, Liz might not want her friendship, or anything Gigi could give her, ever again.
