Bassong stepped forward and tried to tackle Bennett. Bennet knew that, he jumped evaded the tackle and provided a pass to Ryan. Ryan deflected the ball into the middle. He was running to the penalty box through the middle. But, Michel Turner got in the way. Ryan tried to pass the ball to Kazuki but failed. The ball was successfully blocked by Michel Turner.

Turner sent the ball to Garrido. Garrido took Turner's pass, but Vicente came in quickly and tackled Garrido. The ball went off the field. The counter-attack that Norwich tried to build was neatly thwarted by Southampton.

In the 14th minute, Bradley's pass on Chris Martin was cut off by Jimmy. Jimmy didn't waste the time, he provided a long pass forward. David Hower had an aerial duel with Wes Hoolahan, but unfortunately, he lost. Hoolahan succesfully sent a headed ball to Norwich right-back Russel Martin.
