10 What is a Takkan?

"You should use your dagger to hunt our food. We can't live just from fish. At least I can't!"

"But I couldn't kill an animal! Pan, you're demanding the impossible from a till now normal high school girl."

"What is a high skul girl?"

"High S C H O O L girl. It is someone who hasn't seen the world and is a child in the body of a not-yet-adult. Well, if I summarize it."

"Hmm, in short, a big child? But even so, the normal kid can even hunt a Takkan."

"What is a Takkan?"

"You don't know Takkans? What have you eaten in your life? You missed out on something great!"

"Eeh? Okay, if you say so. And no, I have not heard of the word Takkan before."

"Well, it seems I have to hunt one. You can't die without even tasting the wonderful meat of a Takkan."

Great, does that mean I am off the hook? I don't have to hunt an animal?

"Wait here, I won't need more than 20 minutes maximum."

"Yup, I will obediently wait."

Suddenly the exam turned a lot easier.

"Start the fire, I will roast it, so you will have the best taste of Takkans, that exists in this world."

"I'm on it."

The smell was distinctive and just delicious, even when Pan just started roasting the Takkan, which a hundred per cent looks like a normal turkey to me.

Every world has its own names, I suppose.

"Pan, do you know the term 'Earth'?"

Somehow I suddenly just had the urge to ask her that. It is a stupid question, I know.

"Do you mean the 'Earth' we sit on right now?"

"No."

"Hmmm... I only heard rumours, but I think there was something about a Rank 14, who said he came from EARTH. But as I said, it is only a rumour."

"You sure you heard this correctly?" Is it possible that there are people beside me in this world that come from the earth?

"Well, I'm not sure in what context, but I heard this term, definitely! And not with the meaning mud."

"Okay, thank you Pan."

"Why did you suddenly ask about such a thing?"

"Interest?"

"In what?"

"Just the meaning behind words."

The conversation went on but in a whole other direction. Somewhere in the middle, we had our meal. It was delicious! Pan, become my personal chef.

But wait a sec! Rank 14? Didn't Pan say she only knew 11?

"Pan, what is this Rank 14 you mentioned?"

Pan paled. I think I shouldn't have asked.

"You don't have to explain if it's hard for you."

"No, it's okay, just a few memories. Nothing much."

That white face that is telling me this is screaming that this is not, 'nothing much'!

"Rank 14 is above the law. And I don't mean the law of a country, but the law of the world. You have to think outside the box to understand. You take a sphere and another sphere, and of course, you have the world outside the two. Everyone Rank 12 and above, can travel to this space that is between. But I have to warn you. Not many know this, so don't carelessly spread the word!"

"I promise I won't"

"Thank god, it can be really dangerous if 'they' know that you are aware of this."

"'They'?"

"Here ends the Q&A!"

Pan was unusually quiet after she told me this... But I have to know such things. I mean this 'secret' could be an explanation for my situation. These two spheres that Pan mentioned. One could be Eternal Moon and the other one could be Earth. Just maybe. If this is true, then I have to get stronger. I could possibly find back to earth if I can travel through that space between the worlds.

I really have to get more information... Well, can't help it. I suppose I have to see this through till Rank 12.
