1 The Day It All Happened

The sky was pitch black but the lamps from nearby lampposts illuminated the night sky. The stars were scattered in the sky. All of them were twinkling and shining away. I sat on the cold blue sand admiring the stars and the atmosphere at night. "Gosh, I wish every night was as beautiful as this!" I thought to myself. Out of nowhere came a large screeching sound and the night sky suddenly shone as bright as the fire sphere (the sun). Enormous metal cages came raining down on the city. Each equipped with blinding lights. Sounds like firecrackers could be heard but I knew it was no party. As I glanced further into the distance a silhouette was seen standing on the metal cages. They were hollering gibberish but from the tone of their voice they were serious. Smoke suddenly escaped from the metal cages and the door had been opened. More silhouettes unlike any other were seen sprinting out of them. I spun my head around to see what was going on. The townspeople were confused but they were all running from the silhouettes. Just then, the booming of the firecracker like sound filled the air and many of the townspeople were laying on the floor. Their eyes showed no signs of live. My jaw fell ajar and I ran to safety.

As I made my way for my neighborhood, I prayed hard that my family was safe. With each step I took, my heart was pounding furiously in the hopes of escaping this nightmare. As I turned the corner, my heart dropped. Syphiette was lying on the floor with blood gushing from her body. I covered my mouth and screamed in pain. Tears were welling up in my eyes. However, I knew that I had more important things to do. I brushed off my tears with my shoulder and headed for my house. When I reached my house, the door was left ajar. I peered into the door and saw that the house was empty. I scanned my surroundings and realized that my family must have evacuated. I heaved a sigh of relief.

Just then I heard a large siren wailing in the distance and saw that the emergency bunker was closing soon. "Oh no! Once it is closed, it will remain lock for a few hours." I thought to myself. The countdown began. 10…,9…,8…,7… Just as I was about to bolt towards the bunker's opening, someone grabbed my hand. His face looked horrifying. Unbelievable! He was standing on 2 legs just like me. His skin was white and he had hair on his head. I tried to shrug him off but his grip was firm. Without hesitation, he began pulling me towards the metal cages. "Let me go! Let me go!" I yelled hoping that someone would come to my assistance but it was to no avail.

He used some kind of metal ring and hooked it to my wrists, locking both my hand together. Seeing that I have not given up struggling, he murmured some gibberish and then face palmed his face. He pressed his wrist in an odd pattern and then spoke once again, "Cooperate and we will not harm you." He gave me a look of disgust and then yanked me into a room filled with people from the town. Although I did not know them that well, they all welcomed me with open arms. Seeing that these ape-like creatures had the upper hand we had no choice but to abide by their commands.

These creatures were a weird bunch. After weeks of being locked in the room they will always offer us a plate with vegetables on it. The tag on the plate is written as: lunch. They always seem concerned that the plate was left untouched but after a few days they did not seem to care that much. The walls of the rooms were merely chains or iron bars that ran from the ceiling to the floor. Even though they did not harm or torture us, I could still vividly remember that horrific massacre.
