1 Chapter One

The sky was angry roaring through the night, light flashes across the sky, and in turn thunderclaps. It was as if they were dancing together or a fierce fight between the two. They did not care about below or that someone was running and screaming for their life.

"Help! Someone! Please help me!" It was no use no one could hear the cry for help when everyone else was locked inside the warmth of their home sitting in front of the fire and drinking a hot mug of chocolate to chase away the cold.

All the pleas for help were drowned out by the rain. Feeling helpless she started crying but what was the use of tears when it mingles with the rain and was washed away. It only serves to obstruct her vision as the rain was doing.

Splash! Splash!

The only sound that could be heard except the sound of the weather was her feet slapping on the wet alley floor, her uneven breathing, and the beating of her racing heart.

She was running slower and slower with her clothes clinging to her body like a second skin that is heavy with water deteriorating her speed.

Minutes before she was worried about catching cold walking home in the rain but now she is worried about dying out here. She didn't know what it is that was chasing after her but she felt immense fear when she looked back to see a dark figure following behind her.

She started hurrying down the sidewalk hoping to get to her apartment building before the figure could catch up. A glance behind her showed her no one was there. Frowned, feeling like her mind was playing tricks on her but she was sure that someone was behind her.

Not letting down her guard she did not slow down her walking. If anything she only walked faster. Seeing her street ahead she was relieved inside that she was almost home but dare not relaxed.

Suddenly, the figure appeared out of thin air on her street in front of her apartment building. Her heart jumped in her chest and her legs stop moving. It must be the shadows of the night playing tricks on me. She thought looking behind her. At this hour the street was empty which was usual when the weather gets bad. The wind picked up and the sky lights up giving her a reprieve from the dark but not enough to see who the person was.

It was next accompanied by the thunderclaps and the raindrops were now coming down faster and bigger than previously.

She pulled her jacket closer to her, water catching on her eyelashes and falling off. They both stood like that before she took off running in the opposite direction darting into an alley close by hoping to lose whoever was following her.

But somehow she couldn't lose the person. Now she was running in the rain trying to escape from the shadow that has been on her tail no matter where she turns. This alley, that alley, out on the street into a next alley. She darts again into a different alley hoping to confuse her tracker only to come to a dead end.

"Damn." There is no way I could get over that wall. She thought turning around to get out but stopped when faced with the figure.

It didn't rush to her only taking small steps towards her like a predator successfully cornered its prey. She backs away startled, the fear started growing in her heart. She anxiously looks around but there was no way out and the wall that was blocking her only way of freedom was still standing there alright.

Maybe I could get by him by running... no-no that won't work he'll just grab me. She was thinking of all possible ways to escape. Her back hit the wall her chest heaving up and down. Now she looked the part of a cornered animal with her eyes wild and chest moving up and down.

"Stay back," she demanded in a harsh voice.

Unknowingly to her, it smiled. That's it try to be brave but I can smell your fear from a mile away. It thought. Soon you'll be mine in a matter of seconds.

"I'm warning you," her voice trembles, her lips quivering betraying the strength that she is trying to portray. She didn't want to die this young thinking about all that she hasn't done yet with her life. It was then that she realized that she hadn't lived a fulfilling life.

In a flash the figure was no longer meters away from her but inches away leaning over her form and even though it was dark and the rain did not help with her vision she could tell that it was a man. He leaned down angling his head to the side so that his nose was in line with her neck. He took a sniff of her scent and immediately he was addicted.

"I've found you now."

She was trembling in fear not so much the cold. She haven't felt so much fear in her life. She was going to die here in the alley where no one will find her died body. How would she die, by strangulation, knife to the neck or of something more sinister.

Why isn't she begging for her life? Or fighting to get away? She's just standing there with her back pressed against the wall frozen with fear.

What does he want? He's just standing there doing nothing. It only made her more apprehensive, too afraid to make a move. The only action she could do in that moment is let those dreadful tears run down her round cheek.

The sky flash with light lighting up the alley as they both stare at each other giving her only a second to see her tormentors face. The only feature she could see in such short light is his mesmerizing eyes. His eyes were blue, not the sea colour blue, not the average blue you'd see but that blue, the blue that'd make you stand out from everyone else, the blue that'll never make you forget that person, it's the rare kind of blue that is glowing when it is hit with light.

That blue made her forget her fear if only for a moment, wanting to see those eyes again. To see if they're real and not the flash of light playing tricks on her.
