15 15 Snuff

With time they finally reached the small northern islands. Not only did the glacier sisters live there, but more importantly Joon's mother resided in the north. It took a bit more time, but they found Joon's mother. Unfortunately, she had greatly reduced in size. It had been some years since Blue Flame last laid eyes on her, he remembered her differently and thus saw her as such. It is said the conscious never forget the first encounter and will never waver from that initial image. He's flame glowed with the joy of seeing her once again. Somehow all at once he was also devastated at her lose of mass. He wanted to embrace her but hesitated.

Blue Flame snapped back into the current moment and spoke to Joon, "This is your mother Joon, and Agatha this is your son."

Mother and child were meeting for the first time. The experience was overwhelming for all involved. Agatha was overcome with tears that melted and flowed into the sea. Her tears of joy made Joon evaluate in his existence. His father never seemed so happy before now, and his mother wept for presents. This made him feel loved upon first meeting her. Joon resolved this experience meant to him that he was wanted and loved by both his parents. He could see it in his mother's and father's eyes. That look was in his father's eyes when Blue Flame looked at Agatha with love. Instantaneously, Joon understood his relationship with his father. Joon hugged his mother fiercely and she hugged back with all the years of love she had saved up for him.

For a considerable time they stayed north as a family. Spending time and learning family histories and stories was their daily routine. Agatha told Joon of her adventures with her sisters, three of her younger sisters had melted away. Blue flame filled her in on events that happened during Joon's childhood. He told her about when Joon discovered flight. It was "purely accidental", according to him. His father never discussed anything with Joon about who or what he was, his wings were just an extension of him, like hands. His father assumed nature would just take over an lead the way.

Nature took over one day while exploring a ridge by a waterfall. Blue Flame was letting him play alone and suddenly Joon was out of sight. Blue Flame thought he would be in the water as he gaped over the side, but instead over the ridge he saw his son in flight. Joon was weaving in and out of the water in a lovely pattern. Water shined off of his scales, and his teeth showed from ear to ear.

Joon remembered it a little differently. He recalled being scared for his life and tumbling through the air towards the sharp rocks at the bottom of the waterfall. He struggled about until suddenly his wings caught an air pocket that gave him a slight lift. He notice the pause in fall and repeated the motion with both wings, until he haphazardly landed in the calmed water away from the rocks. Happy to be alive, he responded favorably to his father's cheers at the top of the falls. That was life with his father, altered memories of the past.

While visiting in the north, Blue Flame energy deteriorated over the years. Agatha decreases in size with every summer passed. Joon watched his parents disappearing before his eyes. Until one night when Blue Flame was at peace. Blue Flame prepared himself for his final moment. He gave Agatha his final words then retreated into her core. He released his essence into Agatha for the last time that evening.

The next morning, Agatha met Joon at sunrise to explained to him about his father. His father's energy was transferred into her, so it was not lost but conserved. Joon felt indifferent regarding his father's transition. Agatha tried to continue on living but felt her energy melt away with time.

She knew of Joon's powers and ability to posses and contain other's energies. She saw it in his eyes the first day they met. She proposed he consume her, so both his parents could be with him for eternity. Joon was opposed to the idea, but upon her last day she was almost just a small puddle and ice. At that moment Joon drank this phase of his parents into himself and left the north for good.

Father and Mother died, but they live.
