33 You’re Out...

Edmund didn't know what to do. Should he lock her up and report to Archbishop Odella? Should he release her and hope the church doesn't punish him for letting her go? Or....

"Defective... this Race Ethic Stone must be faulty. I'm sorry for the inconvenience miss. You have answered my questions and you're not related to any demonic practices so you may leave."

If he said the device was defective then he would avoid punishment from the higher ups and offending this unfathomable and profound girl. It clearly wasn't faulty though, so he had to make sure to tamper with it later.

"Of course! It must be defective!"

"I agree."

The elder priests were also in the same pickle that Edmund was in, so they also played along.

Kyren couldn't help but snicker at their squirming demeanors, 'It seems as though the church isn't as tough as they are made out to be.'

He knew this wasn't true but it was a pleasant thought.

Edmund noticed his mocking and he fell into an internal rage. Let me show you what happens when you disrespect the church! "Now come sit Dragon Slayer so that I may talk to you."

Rayna got up, exited the room, and stood right outside the door. She refused to leave Kyren behind. When he sat down, Edmunds respective aura turned cold as he glared at him.

The church has countless Dragon Slayers compared to the rest of the world so the hooded man in front of him wasn't so special in his eyes. Since he was already on Edmunds bad side, he might as well make life tough for him with the influence of the church.

"Reports say you encountered a Void Dragon... explain."

Kyren kept his calm despite the rude behavior being directed at him, "Why do you want to know?"

A vein visibly bulged on Edmunds forehead and he struggled to keep his cool, "Do you have any material left from it?"

"Sold them all."

"What abilities did it have?"

"Strong ones I think."

"Was it truly a youngling? I got the report of the destruction it caused in the forest and it didn't match up."

"Maybe it was."

"... can you describe it?"

"My memories are a little foggy."

The lie detector reacted to every answer he gave except for the first one about him selling the materials. Edmund was shaking and his nails dug into his skin as he clenched his fists.

Kyren had absolutely no respect for people affiliated with the church because of how they treated those who didn't bend over and kiss their feet. He was also pissed for how they mistreated his fellow kinsmen of the draconic race. For the sake of all of the wronged souls, he would never submit to the church.

"ARE YOU GOING AGAINST US!!!" His voice boomed as the entire building shuddered. A B~grade aura and killing intent was being poured onto Kyren. If he didn't have certain abilities, he would have been kneeling on the floor, maybe even dead.

'That's strike two for yelling and disrespecting me...'

Kyren sat there unfazed as he calmly took the frightening aura head on, "Who would be so stupid as to do that? I truly respect and cherish the church! They are all good willed individuals that help the people! This world can't possibly survive without you guys and all the amazing things you do..."

<You have discovered and upgraded the proficiency [Liar] to [Advanced Liar].>

His passionate words made Edmund hesitate and calm down for a second as he retracted his aura.

The next moment though, the lie detector went off like crazy as it heard multiple blatant lie.

Edmund has never been this angry in his entire life. He was the golden child of the church so he demanded respect from all those he didn't see worthy of his attention. Who was this Dragon Slayer bug to openly slander them!?! He had to disappear from existence along with his loved ones!

Edmund made a calm and business like face that was the opposite of his raging emotions, "You're quite the talent if you managed to kill a void creature. A dragon no less! You should consider joining the Archaic Church."

The elder priests noticed what he was doing and immediately sent out an overbearing pressure to assist him.

There was a hidden policy that any who aren't noteworthy in the eyes of the church and refused any "kind" offers they made was to be suppressed or put down affective immediately. Even the Emperor of Alvestine wasn't exempted from this secret rule.

If he refused then Edmund would be able to kill him without any consequences.

Kyren saw through what they were doing and smiled inwardly, "I refuse."

Edmund was the first to move as he summoned a sword and shield from his soul realm. His white holy armor also formed around his body as he lunged over the desk and readied a skill to cleave his target in half.

He was confident in killing Kyren instantly because he only saw him as a C~grade weakling.

<You're racial curse [Dragon's Ego] has been activated. Please defend your honor before [Dragon's Anger] activates...>

Kyren didn't even care about the notification as he already planned to teach this brat a lesson.

"Strike three, you're out..."

The next second, all those in the room felt his True Killing Intent and they paled. There eyes went into a daze for a split second as they simulated the most gruesome death they could imagine and more.

Edmund has already leaped over the desk and was halfway to Kyren, but stopped as he also was affected. As soon as he came back to reality, Kyren was already right in front of him.

[Inner Strength: Inner Strike (90%)]

Kyren's right hand wrapped around his forehead and skull, ruthlessly smashing it into the center of the large and expensive desk.

This was on the first level so Edmund's head didn't go through the floor but instead made a massive crater. The entire cathedral felt an earthquake but it didn't fall under the pressure. Due to fortification magic, it didn't collapse despite the great tremors it felt.

<[Dragon's Ego] has been resolved.... You have discovered the proficiency, [Foul Play].>

Edmund's brain was still rocking and jerking from the strike so he didn't notice the large amounts of blood coming off of his face. Kyren changed his nails to that of a void dragons and slashed his handsome face on the way out of his attack.

His face would stop the bleeding eventually but his face was now permanently scarred so Kyren felt delighted. Dragon's claws are also affected by their respective element like their breath. For example, Flame Dragon's claws could melt through most things like butter. Void Dragon claws were the most lethal out of all of them because whatever they cut was erased from existence to a certain degree.

Healing magic and health potions would not help Edmunds disfigured face because the flesh it was supposed to heal now officially never existed. It would take someone from the Transcendent Realm with powerful soul and life magic to be able to fix his face to something even remotely presentable. Sadly they all went extinct... truly sad.

Kyren dashed towards the door and grabbed the startled Rayna on the other side. Void mana surrounded him and they disappeared.

The elder priests immediately snapped back to attention and rushed to Edmunds side.

"Thank goodness he's alive!"

"That attack was absolutely not made by a C~grade! There's just no way!!"

"That had to be B+, maybe even A- strength!"

"Did he just use a stealth skill? I don't sense his presence in the building anymore..."

The church scrambled as they searched for the attacker. To no avail, they didn't find him.

The outsiders that heard the commotion immediately found out what happened and were shocked silly. Someone attacked the church and easily got away with it?! On their home ground too!?!?!

The churches image was gravely wounded as they frantically searched the entire city for Kyren.

Meanwhile, in a dark and eerie room, the old Void Master who was watching Edmund the whole time was also stunned.

He wasn't surprised by the attack on his disciple. In fact he could care less. If he was beaten, then that was his own fault for provoking that individual.

What he was surprised about was the hooded figures use of void mana. Although it was clearly made by a novice that didn't know the first thing about the void, the elemental affinity he felt from it was absolutely overwhelming.

The mysterious youths innate void affinity was even greater than his own if he didn't use abilities or items.

"Interesting...."

He closed the magic mirror he was watching Edmund with and disappeared from the room.
