Moon Incarnate

Kyren and Rayna walked down the street towards the Kassio's only cathedral. It towered over most of the other buildings in the area. Even though this was the Nobles District, it was more extravagant and lofty than even the most expensive structures. It was more like a palace.

The building had a French Gothic style of architecture but due to the presence of magic in this world, it was leagues more majestic than any cathedral on Earth. It had the same affect that the Goddess of Reincarnation had on him. It was so beautiful that he had a hard time taking in its full brilliance.

Once inside, they were met with an odd sight of commotion. Weren't cathedrals supposed to be calm and sacred places? All sorts of people rushed in and out as though they were frantically trying to complete their tasks, looking a little overworked. Each one of them were wearing their holy combat class specific armor/uniforms.

The church altered most of the main combat classes into something that is unique for them, or as they say, "holy versions."

[Priests] are mage or other magical classes...

[Paladins] are knights/archers or other warrior/ranged classes...

[Crusaders] are berserkers or other tank/heavy classes...

[Clerics] are shaman or other support classes...

[Vagabonds] are rogues or other silent classes...

(Priests are also titles given by the church.)

'What's going on?'

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Inside of a one of the cathedrals more lavish rooms, a group of people stood before a young man who sat behind an expensive dark oak desk.

"Why haven't any of you found those two yet? Explain your failure..." The young man at the head of the desk was Edmund, the disciple of one of the churches most powerful Void Master and the one who was given power over operations in Kassio.

The people he was scolding were all elder priests (title, not class) and officially higher ranked than him. They inwardly disdained the arrogant youth for his egotistic behaviors. They didn't say anything though because he was the temporal leader of of the region around Kassio.

"Our trackers believe that they left the city at around the same time about 2 to 3 days ago. It also seems as though they know each other which confuses us. We have no idea how a Dragon Slayer and this girl are related."

They were investigating Kyren because of his knowledge of Void Dragons and unfathomable strength. To kill any type of void related creature was a feat that even an S~grade legend would have trouble with.

Rayna was also being searched for because the citizens or witnesses they questioned stated that she was following the hooded demon at around the time it went berserk. Wether she was being bewitched by it unwillingly or is involved with demonic practices still eludes them.

"Then work harder to find information on them. The files you provided me with are only one page long and it doesn't say anything useful about them, no family, no power levels, no backgrounds. Redo the investigation and notify me when you find them."

"But it's as though they just appeared out of nowhere! We can't fin-"

"I don't care, get it done!"

'DAMNED BRAT!!' All of the elders cursed at him internally. Even if he's a prodigy that's learned a little void magic and is the golden child of the archbishop, that didn't mean he could treat them with such disrespect.

*Knock* *Knock*

"Come in."

A paladin's squire walked in and bowed to those present.

"Two people claiming to be the people we are looking for have arrived at our front doors."

"Really? How did you elders not know that they were back in the city with all of our investigators looking for them? Yet another failure.... Show them to my office squire."

The elders fumed but kept it to themselves.

When the two walked in, everyones eyes ignored the hooded figure and looked at the white haired fairy next to him. There was something wild and animal like about her beautiful golden eyes that made their hearts skip a couple beats. Her innocent yellow dress almost looked like it was made specifically for her as it subtly displayed her perfectly proportioned curves.

Edmund was immediately enthralled with Rayna as he blatantly stared at her. Her appearance put the churches greatest beauties to shame. If he didn't know better, he would've definitely mistaken her for a pure blooded archangel, maybe even the reincarnation of a goddess.

Edmunds stares were his first strike, as Kyren sent deadly glares at him through his hood. Rayna felt his sudden but very faint rage as she looked back and forth from him to Edmund.

She blushed and giggled as fantasies about Kyren being jealous popped into her head. A great joy filled her heart despite her masters unpleasant mood.

Edmund sat up and politely gestured for the seat in front of him, "Please take a seat m'lady. I only have a few questions."

Rayna looked to Kyren for approval and sat down. Edmund didn't notice this but the elders did.

"Now I'm sure your aware of the demon attack from a couple days ago."

"Demon?" When did she meet a demon? She couldn't remember anything like that.

"That creature with the wings that caused the massacre at the Gruta Lake. You were seen being lead by it to somewhere, could you tell us why?"

Rayna felt a hint of anxiety to his question from Kyren so she decided to lie, "I don't remember a demon causing a massacre at the lake."

What Rayna and Kyren didn't notice was the two magical devices on the desk. The one that looked like a sun dial, tested wether or not a lie was told within a certain distance.

'It didn't go off? Did the demon erase her memories?'

Technically, what Rayna said wasn't a lie because she only remembered a handsome dragon causing the massacre, not a demon.

"Please place your hand on this Race Ethic Stone."

The "stone" was the size of a fist and in the shape of a mini triangular pyramid, but it was made out of some kinda bright cyan metal so it didn't really look like a stone. The metal seemed alive as small white and black swirls danced across its surface.

It's purpose was to test for the karma or ethic level of the race of the creature touching it.

If the black swirls emerge on the stone, then that meant it was in contact with something related to the demonic bloodline or some other race that wasn't good natured.

If the white swirls emerge on the stone, then that meant it was in contact with something related to the angelic bloodline or another good natured race.

If it stayed the same then it meant that whatever touched it was not affiliated with either side which was usually more common.

The stone actually measured the race of the individual that touches it by the species karma value. The stronger the bloodline, the larger the reaction from the swirls.

Rayna unknowingly placed her hand on the metallic stone and it started to vibrate uncontrollably. It definitely was not supposed to do that.

A split second later and the stone was turned completely white. So blindingly white that it started to glow and slightly levitate while still vibrating. The room around them was starting to darken, making the stone a beacon in the room.

She yanked her hand back and looked confused. Everything immediately turned to normal as though nothing happened.

The elder priests and Edmund were stunned speechless. Whenever pure blooded angels like them touched the stone, it would at most make a few small white swirls. The results were usually around ten percent coverage of white swirls.

Anyone above the bishop level would be archangels so their coverage was at around twenty percent.

The cardinals were saints (next level of angelic race) so their coverage was around forty percent. Not a single individual, including the pope who was also a saint, has ever gotten past the forty percent threshold. What did a hundred percent mean???

'What happened? Why are they looking at her fearfully now?'

Leo explained what a Race Ethic Stone was but Kyren was still confused as to why the stone reacted like that.

<This is because of one of her races, [Incarnate], that she has a higher karma value than any demonic or angelic race.>

Kyren only briefly looked over her status window back then so he didn't pay attention to the details, 'What's an Incarnate?'

<It's a SUPER special race that's given by a good, evil or neutral affiliated god to a being they greatly favor. In other words, a being they chose to carry on their bloodline or familia like adoption. This is why her stats are so close to yours despite you being a pure blood dragon.>

'The Goddess of the Moon...' Her name was mentioned more than once when he met Rayna.

<Correct. When you saved the wolf girl from death back then, she unconsciously used the mana you gave her to evolve the hidden bloodline [Argent Rune Wolf] to [Alabaster Rune Wolf].

The goddess was greatly pleased by this unexpected surprise so she took the opportunity to give her the [Incarnate] bloodline of her clan. She is officially considered a goddess's daughter by the Divine Law.>

As he looked at Rayna in admiration, he made a mental note to research her race and ask her about her life story. He realized just how little he knew about her.
