16 Aftermath

In the middle of Kyren's experimental field that he used to test his Dragon's Breath, a blinding purple light appeared.

Out of it came a dragon, a mermaid, and gallons of lake water and debris.

The dragon fell on his back and started shrinking at a visible rate, seemingly calming down.

The mermaid fell on his chest and her leg fin transformed into legs due to the air filled atmosphere.

Kyren used [Gene Transformation] to turn back into a naked human before passing out because of over exertion. When he was trying to escape the city, he already used a large amount of his energy.

The mermaid that was still on his chest was petite and cute, looking no more than 16 or 17 by human terms.

The gills on her neck disappeared as she was now breathing oxygen. Her wavy deep cerulean blue hair was pulled back into a ponytail, exposing her ears which looked like adorable and tiny fish fins. Her eyes were a pale cloud blue which matched the exquisite Merfolk dress she wore. If she grew up into an adult, she would be a stunning beauty that any man would fall for. Her butt was quite full but she was a little underdeveloped in the upper region.

She looked at the naked and unconscious man below her and she jumped off. When Merfolk blush, their faces turn blue because of their blood color. Their skin color is similar to humans but only with a faint blue tint unlike the usual red. She couldn't help but turn a fluorescent blue due to the absolutely perfect looking naked man in front of her.

When she calmed down, she noticed the grave wounds all over his body. They were healing but his energy was greatly depleted so only very slowly. She stared at the large wound on his right side where Krista slashed him. A conflicted expression crossed her face as she tried to think about what to do.

The palms of her hands pointed directly at the wound. A large blue magic circle formed and a sharp icicle shard materialized. It bobbed up and down for a couple seconds before the magic was canceled and it disappeared. She fell down to her knees and cupped her face, crying lightly.

She couldn't do it...

When Kyren awoke, pain shot through him and he grasped his side. Although the wound was healed by now, it was still very sore.

Kyren didn't have any time to react and he started evolving.

He screamed in agony as every cell in his body started getting destroyed and rebuilt. His body spasmed and convulsed as his blood turned from red to purple and random parts of his body would warp from human to dragon and then back like some kind of mutant.

The mermaid woke up from her nap and stared at the writhing atrocity. She readied another magic icicle in case he lunged at her. She thought he was turning into that dragon again and it terrified her.

When she noticed his pained face, her heart crumbled. She got up from her spot and came to his side, cancelling the attack spell. There was something about him that attracted her like no other merman she's met before.

Kyren felt a warm embrace that calmed him down a little.

When the pain finally subsided, his head was on the lap of a sleeping Mermaid.

He sat up and surveyed his surroundings.

'It seems like that teleportation worked. It sent me to a random location in the forest it seems... what happened to me?'

"....."

He looked down and he noticed that his wounds were dressed with herbs. He peeled them off and started funneling mana into them. After getting dressed, he looked at the still sleeping mermaid and guilt washed over him.

This might've been a game but everything felt way to realistic. His sorrow for killing so many innocents constricted his heart.

'I need a solution for Dragon's Anger.'

As he was brain storming, the girl slowly woke up and noticed his absence from her lap.

"Miss, I'm truly sorry for causing all of that."

"....."

"If you wish to take my life multiple times I will happily oblige."

"I can't kill you..."

"I'm immortal so I won't ever truly die. Kill me as many times as you want."

"I can't kill you because you didn't want to do that right?"

"... Correct."

They sat in awkward silence as they stared at each other.

"That was one of my curses activating, I deeply apologize for the things that I've done. If there's anything I can do to make it up then tell me."

Hope flashed across her face as she sized him up, "Take me away..."

Kyren blinked a couple of times, "E-Excuse me?"

"I don't wish to go back to my race, so take me with you."

"Even after what you saw..."

"...."

"I'll just take you back to your pare—"

"I don't want to."

"But-"

"No."

"It's Maya, and you?"

She was shocked that he figured out her status through her cloths alone. Merfolk kept to themselves so no outsiders usually knew about the hierarchy. In fact, most of the citizens of Kassio didn't even know there was a city of Merfolk in the Gruta Lake.

"There is no way I'm taking you with me. The Merfolk already hate me as it is now."

"But-"

"It's too dangerous. I'll take you back as soon as I can."

Maya crawled over to where he was sitting and got up close and personal. Her delicate hands traced his chest and pinned him down.

She got close enough to his face to kiss him and whispered, "Please~ I wouldn't mind traveling with someone as handsome as you~" The desperation to get away from her kin was as plain as day.

"Bullshit," he gently pushed her away, "Your way to young for that kinda behavior."

As she was trying to seduce him, a giant white and gold wolf jumped into the clearing and rushed at the two.

Maya yelped and jumped off of him in an attempt to run. She was a prodigy in magic but she was no fool to challenge a creature with such a frightening aura. Kyren stood up in a calm manner and faced the wolf.

When the wolf was right of front of him, it transformed into a naked Rayna in a kowtow position.

Even though he knew it was her, he was confused about her next action.

"Please punish me Master!"

"Wh-What, why would—"

"I asked for something selfish and it made you angry! I won't ever give you a nickname ever again, just please don't abandon me!"

'She thinks I got mad at a nickname?'

Kyren took Rayna's hand and brought her in close to him. Her bare body pressed against his and he looked deep into her surprised eyes.

Her face became flustered and bright red as fantasies danced in her head. She was sure he heard, maybe even felt her beating heart.

They could feel each others breaths on each others cheeks. Rayna was far to innocent to have a clear understanding of mating and romance but something odd was happening to her and she couldn't express it.

He slowly let go of her and looked at the still confused mermaid. Rayna felt like she was just teased, making her pout off to the side.

Maya snapped out of it and made pleading eyes. She might have been confused by the scene in front of her, but she couldn't think about that right now.

"Fine I won't take you back but you can't stay with me. My future will be filled with danger and I can't protect you."

She nodded her head dejectedly. Even though they just met and he destroyed a good chunk of her capital city, she was still very much looking forward to staying with him in the future. At least he wasn't sending her back which gave her time to wear him down.

He turned to the red and pouting little wolf, "Ray, could you give us both a ride?"

"Y-Yeah sure."

He can't take out his dragon form in case he gets noticed so riding back on Rayna was the fastest and safest option.
