Adventurers Guild Commotion

"While I was on my way back from a C~grade mission, I encountered a black and purple dragon in the middle of the road of the Keslar Forest."

"A dragon?" Skeptical and shocked expressions swept the room

"This far into human territory?"

"Are you sure it wasn't a Wyvern?"

"Absolutely positive," Krista took out the magical quill so she could see her magic notes, "It looked like a Youngling Lightning Dragon but it had some very distinct differences. It was taller and it's physique was more muscular unlike a Lightning Dragons lean frame. The scales were a metallic black and its underbelly, claws, and horns were a bright purple."

"That doesn't sound like any dragon I know..." The Guild Leader was the oldest and strongest in the room so he was extremely knowledgeable when it came to this kind of stuff, "Describe the encounter."

"Even though I was more then 100 meters away, it still noticed me instantly. But that wasn't the most abnormal part, it gestured for me to come and initiate a conversation with it, so I asked it some brief questions.

Right when I was about to kill it, it predicted my intentions and used some sort of mental attack.

While I was stunned, it escaped and vanished before I could even figure out what happened."

The room was deathly silent, and with good reason. Dragons were very prideful creatures, so when they're put into combat, they fight till the bitter end, yet for some reason it ran away. This means that it has strategic capabilities on par with a humans at such young age.

Moreover, it seems to be immune to the feral nature that affects them till adulthood.

"This is a really bad time.... all of the adventurers with Dragon Slaying abilities are not within the region."

Dragons were extremely difficult to deal with when there was no one with the respective abilities. A dragons recovery rate is absolutely monstrous, even a severed limb will regrow before even two minutes pass.

Slayer abilities negate this healing ability to a certain extent. That's why it's near impossible to kill even a youngling even if someone has peak B~grade strength.

"Do we really need to depend on the church?"

"If they get involved then they'll go overboard," that upper echelon then let out a sigh and said in a exasperated tone, "Maybe they'll finally burn the whole forest down with holy fire."

"But the forest is a main source of income for the adventurers.... would they do that?"

"Did you get the news on what they did to the towns with that plague that's been spreading recently?"

"....."

"Krista, did you ask how long it will be staying? If we can get the matierials from it's body, we can greatly boost the combat power of our adventurers."

"He said he would be resting for around 10 days. I don't believe he lied because when dragon's over exert themselves, they tend to rest for a while."

The Guild Leader turned toward his assistant who was patiently waiting on the sidelines.

"Set up an emergency quest to hunt that dragon, put the time limit for 10 days. Only B~grades or higher."

The assistant walked outside the door to relay the message only to be stopped by an employee. She listened to what the employee said and rushed back into the meeting room.

"G-Guild Leader!!!" She swiftly walked over to his side and whispered something in his ear.

"A new dragon slayer has appeared in this guild?!?" The guild leader couldn't contain his shock at the convenience of the situation.

Kyren walked down the bustling street as he looked around. Although a majority of the citizens were human looking, there were some beast men and other races that intermingled with the mob.

A caravan with cages passed him and he unconsciously looked inside. An assortment of different races sat inside with nothing but rags. Most of them looked like elves while the minority were humans, some were even beast men too.

'Prisoners?'

<No, slave trade.>

Disgust filled his eyes as he looked away, 'There's nothing I can do about it right now. Maybe if I take over this country though?'

<You're quite ambitious! You know that there are some absolute monsters guarding the Alvestine Empire right?>

"Doesn't matter. Once I get stronger, I might have to make some changes around here."

<.....>

Kyren opened the doors and walked into the Adventurers Guild's main hall. The first thing he noticed was the players that littered the room. Some were in a line for the registration counter, while others browsed the mission board. Although there weren't many, there were more players then he's seen in the entirety of his stay.

Only a few people obtained a ticket to the private beta so it was understandable.

In AlKo online, to find out if someone was a player, one would need to inspect the others status with an observer skill or spell. If your sense was high enough then you would automatically know wether or not they were a player.

Kyren got in line and waited... and fifty minutes later, he finally got to the front.

"Hello sir, the registration fee is 10 silver..."

Kyren unhesitatingly placed 10 silvers down, leaving him with 8 silvers in his pocket.

"Please follow the the attendant to your left to get registered."

Kyren followed her instructions and was brought to a relatively fancy room with a table and two chair on either end. There was some papers and a couple of magical items lying on the desk.

"Please take a seat and we'll begin in a moment."

They both sat down and she started sorting out the paperwork.

"Please place your hand on the crystal ball on the left. It will assess your current combat ability by analyzing your attributes and talents."

Kyren did as he was told and the crystal vibrated under his touch. After a moment, a faint light emanated off of it and mana started pouring out.

"E~grade peak... impressive,"She was obviously disinterested in his results, "Now put your hand on the crystal to your left. It will asses your potential growth capability."

He did the same thing but for some reason the magic item didn't react right away.

'Crud!' he forgot about his overwhelming growth potential! 'Leo, suppress the results before it finishes!'

After about a minute of silence, a blinding light shone and a horrendous amount of mana and pressure spread throughout the entire guild and some of the nearby buildings. The aura suppressing magic arrays in the room were immediately thwarted as they shattered.

Veterans in the guild shrugged it off because they thought it was some super big shot showing off. The newbies and players were startled and could hardly breath under the pressure. The emergency meeting room along with some other rooms were ignorant because they could block any outside presences.

"I-is-s t-this A~grade growth potential!?!"

Kyren forgot he had "overwhelming" growth potential, so he was glad he ordered Leo to suppress the results before a huge commotion was created.

On the outside though, he looked unnaturally calm, almost as if he knew this would happen.

Once the attendant calmed down a little, she started asking questions in an overly polite manner, 'If I mess with someone of this caliber, my future is over.'

"What is your name sir?"

"Call me Kyren."

"Do you know the 3 quest categories usually posted in the Guild? Would you like me to explain?"

"Sure."

"Hunter jobs are mainly for on exterminating, capturing or researching creatures...

Explorer jobs focus on gathering and exploring new areas throughout the domain. There are also some requests to gather rare or dangerous materials...

Mercenary jobs are usually for guarding individuals or doing odd jobs for employers. We do not accept any assassination or genocidal requests...

Each request requires the corresponding contribution points and strength to be able to accept..... Any questions?"

"No."

"Lord Kyren, may I ask what your occupation was before you joined the guild?"

Kyren's mind worked frantically to come up with an answer. As he was thinking, a genius idea came to him.

"I killed dragons."

The attendant shot up from her seat and practically yelled, "YOU'RE A D-DRAGON SLAYER!!!"

She stood off to the side and told him she was no longer qualified to register him and left the room in a hurry.

After about twenty minutes, three people walked into the room and he recognized one of them.

She was a beautiful and mature looking lady with a large axe on her back and an old scar down her left eye and cheek.

It was none other then the trigger happy and blood driven Krista!

He grimaced as he felt like getting revenge for his unfair treatment.
