Chapter 23

Makino looked back at Hakai, seeing him smile with his sword in hand. Piecing everything together, it was pretty clear that Hakai slashed the marine ship which was at least 100 meters away from him.

The sea had also been split pretty deep with Hakai's slash, exposing some sea creatures to the air. The empty space quickly filled up with water after a few seconds, getting rid of any evidence of Hakai's slash that split the sea except for the marine ship that had been cut in half.

Hakai grinned and using his tremendous jumping strength, jumped to the currently sinking marine ship.

The marines on the ship grabbed onto whatever they could as the ship slowly but surely lowered into the deep abyss of the ocean.

Makino appeared beside Hakai, levitating off the ground. "Look, I'm taller than you."

She giggled as she watched the ship sink.

The next day, Hakai woke up bright and early, quickly finishing his daily quest, and started working on Kaya's weapon which would be a scythe.

Hakai already had a basic idea of how the scythe would look. He was planning for it to be pitch black with golden details where the blade and the handle of the scythe connected.

Creating the scythe was way simpler than creating Makino's gauntlets since gauntlets were meant to be worn which meant that they had to be a perfect size and perfectly wrap around the user's fists while a scythe could just be held meaning all Hakai needed was the blade and the handle.

Hakai started off with the blade which curved like a crescent moon and would be almost as long as the handle of the scythe. Once he was done shaping the blade, he started sharpening it with his various tools. Sharpening it before attaching it to the handle was good so the handle wouldn't interfere with the sharpening process.

Hakai sharpened the blade to the point that even a simple touch of the edge would make a small cut.

Done with the blade, he moved on to the handle which was just a long pole, longer than the blade, and would be taller than Kaya. The black pole was pointed at the end, giving Kaya the option to use it similar to a spear and thrust to stab her enemies. Making sure everything was perfect, Hakai also sharpened the pointed end of the pole.

Done with the two pieces, he combined the handle and the blade. It was now time for the final step of creating the scythe which is decorating it.

Hakai decorated the blade and the top bit of the handle with a golden design just to make it look even better than it already was since while a plain black scythe looked cool and minimalist, it also looked plain and definitely needed some flavoring was what Hakai thought.

Like Makino, Kaya had been watching Hakai create the scythe, but since Hakai woke up before Kaya, she hadn't watched the whole thing.

'Now for the enchantments.'

Grabbing the scythe, Hakai thought of a good enchantment as he infused the scythe with his energy.

"Rule over death, controlling it for your benefit!"

"Sense when someone will die and choose to either let them die or save them!"

"Become stronger by absorbing the souls of those you kill!"

Hakai applied 3 big enchantments. The first one was complicated, but it's basically necromancy allowing the user of the scythe to temporarily resurrect a dead person. It's also not limited to sorcery as the user can harness the energy of death in a variety of ways. The second enchantment was self-explanatory, it lets the user sense when someone will die. The only downside of this ability is that the user can only sense the death when it'll happen soon. The 3rd enchantment was also self-explanatory. Similar to one of the enchantments applied on Makino's gauntlets, the scythe will absorb the souls of those it kills making it stronger. The scythe does this by using the energy of the souls it harvests, but that energy isn't infinite so it could run out and need more souls.

Aside from those 3 enchants, Hakai also applied some more minor enchants, one of them being an enchantment to change the scythe's form into a small knife since the scythe was bigger than Kaya and carrying it around everywhere when they weren't in battle would pose to be a problem because of its size.

Hakai handed the scythe over to Kaya. "What do you think? This scythe will really make you an Angel of Death."

Kaya smiled as she happily took the scythe, swinging it around a few times. Unlike Makino and Hakai, she wasn't experienced in fighting and only took part in them when she would spar with Makino and sometimes Hakai, so her swings with the scythe were definitely not the best.

"I'll have to personally teach you how to fight with a scythe, but other than that, you'll make a great fighter. I know the scythe is a bit heavy right now, but keep training and you'll be able to lift it as if it was as light as a feather."

Hakai gave Kaya a rundown of what the scythe could do and also telling her that she could turn it into a small knife to carry it around easier. Kaya gave it a try, making the scythe glow as it shrunk to a small knife.

"Thank you, Hakai!" Kaya smiled and gave him a great big hug.

Makino smiled from the side. "Kaya come here. Let's have a spar since you need to get used to your new weapon, right?"
