7 First day

Merlin pov

"ughh I never was a morning person" i growl out as Zack very kindly opens the curtains blinding me. "Oh shut up you big baby it's 6:30, breakfast starts at 7:15 and we've got to figure out this maze in that time." Alex loudly proclaimed, making me remember the moving walls from yesterday. "Yeah yeah, give me a minute" I say while I start getting ready for the day, groggily brushing my teeth. Once we were all ready we head down to the common room, good finding a third year wasn't too hard. Getting him to agree to take us to the great hall was not, but we got there.

the dungeons shifting walls was still confusing, but we now knew that the tunnels actually change to fit where you want to go so as long as your a slytherin no matter what if you take 2 lefts a right another left 3 rights through the hidden wall next to the blue torch (you know those medieval ones that are small fire braziers) another right and left and it will take you wherever you want in the dungeons if that place isn't blocked by wards. Yeah confusing right, but once we were out of the dungeons it was a pretty straight forward task to get to the great hall. We got there at 6:50 so we just sat down and started talking and playing wizard chess, which you will find is an incredibly educational game, if you play by the rules at least. Which we did not.

After 25 minutes food popped out of no where and being that no one else was here yet we dug in unceremoniously. After awhile people started to filter in and fill the tables and wasted no time to start eating. Which I think is the right decision as breakfast is the most important meal. (I actually disagree, I don't actually eat breakfast or lunch and in my opinion dinner is the best meal) At around 7:30 a swarm of pages flew into the room and neatly landed in front of each student, it was at this time a bellowing voice was heard by all "this shall be your time table for the year, oh you don't like it, well deal with it cause it ain't changing." It was godrick striding through the hall and up onto his chair in front of the griffindor table.

looking down at my own I saw I had defence against the dark arts the offensive one, then battle transfiguration, after that it's ancient runes, (these aren't the same ones in the Harry Potter series these are even older millennia's even and many times more powerful only the animal tongues are older than these runes and yes all the animal tongues can be written down) after that it's duelling, only rules and theory until we can actually use magic, still interesting though. After that it's minor potions then it's free time until whenever the beast keeper deems we need to go to the fields and finally after that we have flying practice ( moving through use of nothing but your own magical power no brooms here) and then we can do whatever we want." Hey guys what lessons have you got?" I say while turning to look at the two. "Hey get your faces out of your food you pigs!" I shout at them as I rip their heads away from their plates.

"Wut?" Axel asks food still in his mouth.

"Wut? Wut? What's your bloody time table you bloody idiot." Zack used this time to look through all their time tables. "We've all got the same time table." He calmly presents as he watches Merlin try to shake Axel too death. "See, at least Zack has half a brain." He speaks pointedly to Axel while Axel was still trying to recover from his near death experience. "I hate you." Was all he got out before he collapsed onto Zack who made a point of pushing him off just for his head to slam into the table. "Should we help him?" Merlin voices.

"Nah he'll be all good in 5 minutes mental trauma gone as well he's pretty good like that." Shot down Zack. And true to his words in 5 minutes Axel was up and complained to Merlin about how much work they had to do in a single day. At least that was something he and Merlin could agree on.

After they finished up their food they started making their way towards dada one of their 4 offensive ones this week. It didn't take long to find it, the wards of the main section of hogwarts were designed to slowly in print a mental image of the main body of the castle into the students minds, this didn't include secret rooms or passages obviously. And while we haven't been here long we could already feel the effects. Moving through the halls had a certain novelty to it merlin was sure would never get old, the light hum of the sheer amount of magic in the air and the finely cut stone that formed the grand walls that encased us. It was simply wondrous, he was sure many got lost in their own mind, falling to their own imagination walking through these halls. Eventually we reached an empty courtyard and it was massive around 100 meters by 100 meters, but what was truly shocking was who was standing in the centre of the courtyard.

"Is that.." Spoke Zack.

"Godrick Griffindor." Finished Alex.

"Yes it is, now stop gawking at him and let's go." Merlin helpfully reminded the two while dragging them by the ear. "Hello sir."

"Ah, Merlin how are you?"

"I'm well sir, what about you?"

"Just spiffing, but may you care to introduce your friends?"

"Of course, just slipped my mind. Blondy is Alex and the gray old man here is Zack." He introduced them lifting their heads up by the ear in correspondence to who he was talking about before finally letting them go, watching them stumble to stay on their feet." Fine young lads i'm sure." While he said that you could practically taste the sarcasm rolling off his tongue.

While we were talking the rest of the students had arrived in the courtyard and so we had to stop our conversation there and return to the rest of the students. Godrick had us line up into a massive semi circle so that we could all see and hear him. And so staying true to his nature he explained barely any of the theory behind the cutting curse before telling us to "figure the rest out." While he said that he did go around and help each student with their hand movements yes hand movements. (Wands in this era were only used in life and death battles and emergency situations everyone had one but very few ever used them.) Merlin took awhile but he managed to perform the curse, but he was undoubtedly the first in the the class by a long shot gaining 15 points for slytherin. It also let him display his great magical talent, which in reality was even higher than what he let on. Since no amount of dark magic or dark rituals could make him go insane due to his half demon heritage. (not many people know this but in the actual story of King Arthur Merlin was a half demon and I thought it would be an interesting plot point)

As the lesson continued he managed to reach a point where he only needed to move his hand now instead of his whole arm. Very few managed to perform the curse Zack and Alex managed to do it as well. While if you didn't get it right Godrick didn't care you could see his slight preferential treatment of those who were talented. But hey, Merlin, Alex and Zack weren't going to complain since it benefited them so none of the brought it up.

Finally after 2 hours the lesson finished with Godrick Vanishing the training dummies we were using. "So, what lesson do we have next?"

there we go another glorious chapter written by yours truly slightly longer than the last. I'm going to be doing the rest of the lessons in the next chapter and then after each time skip I do I'll explain 3 lessons that he had to attend just so I don't get burnt out trying to think of new lessons all at the same time. Plus just realised this thing has a ranking and according to inkstone im 9000 something which I think is an achievement considering the sheer amount of stuff on this website but then again I could be at the very back and just not know it but who cares and someone please give me teacher name ideas cause I swear to god my head is going to explode at this point anyway have a good day/night.
