10 Chapter 10 - Fei and Kevin

"Fei's out there in the wilderness for my sake. I wish he could hear me cheer him on. Go Fei Go!" said Sue depressed. Her father Harriot patted her and said "He doesn't have to hear your voice. Fei knows his sister is cheering for him" said Harriot confidently.

Harriot kept Sue in a private hospital he recently bought just for his daughter. Most of the doctors who worked there were fired and the few who remained were tasked with Sue's wellbeing. The media thought that was uncalled for. Buying an entire hospital is outrageous but Harriot didn't care.

He wanted his daughter to get all the attention and above all, he wanted to talk about the Dragon Hunt freely without the public overhearing him. The same night Fei left the country he told Sue the shocking news about there's hope for her survival. "If Fei wins the Dragon Hunt you will be healed permanently," he said. Ever since that day, Sue watched Fei's every movement with surveillance cameras and now drones. A big screen was next to her bed for her to watch Fei at any time. Fei has no idea that his privacy is being violated. "Good luck"

The sun just came out and the first round is set to be over at sunset. Fei had already arrived at his assigned location from yesterday waiting for someone to arrive. "Stone Statue" Fei read out loud. He looked at the statue in front of him. A large Dragon statue was sculptured at the very north of the island near the shore. It took Fei no time at all to find his location. With his speed, he traveled the island plenty of times and familiarised himself with the whole island.

"This Stone Statue isn't hard to find. Just search everywhere that isn't the forest and you'd find it in minutes" said Fei. Fei failed to consider that everyone is significantly slower than him. Fei's stomach started to growl. The last time he ate was when the Golden Circle handed out food. Fei looked up on saw a drone close by. He called out to it shouting "I AM STARVING! NOT A SINGLE ONE OF THESE TREES BARE FRUITS OR ANYTHING THAT'S WORTH EATING. BRING ME SOMETHING"

The drone ignored Fei's request and flew higher up in the air. Fei sighed and stared at the Dragon Statue for almost an hour straight. Fei pinched his face every ten minutes to be distracted from the extreme boredom he felt. He thought about leaving for a while but the risk was too great. There's no guarantee that anyone else will arrive at the Dragon Statue. "The island is new to us and way too big to find something in 33 hours," thought Fei. While Fei waited for someone to arrive at his location he decided to play a little game by himself. He played catch for over an hour. Picking up ten pebbles then throwing them high up in the air. Fei caught all pebbles before they touched the ground every time. After two hours of playing catch on his own, a middle-aged man arrived at the Dragon Statue. He was about 6 feet tall with piercing all over his body. Short black hair with no top on but wore black jeans.

"Yo!" the man greeted.

Fei jumped in joy when he saw the man. He threw a pebble at him and said "Play catch with me. It's so boring playing by myself". The man looked at Fei surprised. A teenage boy playing catch in the middle of nowhere. The man introduced himself "Kevin Peterson. What's your name son?"

"Fei Fong, nice to meet you. You must be here because of the statue. The same holds true for me" said Fei relieved. He ran up to the statue and placed a pebble on top of it. "We're going to do three games. The best out of three wins okay. The loser has to surrender" said Fei.

"Surrender? Who do you think you are!?"

"I'm going to bash your head in and pass this round. I don't have time for games" shouted Kevin angrily. Kevin took one step towards Fei and he vanished out of sight.

"We don't need to settle this with violence. Let's agree that both of us have no interest in getting hurt. What do you say?" asked Fei. Kevin turned around to see Fei behind him. Kevin took three steps back and went into a fighting stance. He had his two elbows tucked to his side while his fist was up in the air like a boxer. He punched Fei in the stomach.

"Aaah! That was a good punch. Try one of mine" Fei said rubbing his stomach. Kevin nodded in disagreement and said "This isn't a game. I'm not going to take one of your pu-"

BEESH!

Fei's swung his hand in Kevin's face so fast he almost couldn't see it. If it weren't for the pain in Kevin's nose he probably wouldn't have known he was punched there.

BEESH! BEESH! BEESH! BEESH! BEESH!

BEESH! BEESH! BEESH! BEESH! BEESH!

Without warning, Fei started punching Kevin relentlessly until he accepted the offer to play a game instead of fighting. Kevin was overwhelmed by Fei's punches he had no choice but to take upon Fei's offer. "What game do you have in mind? Best out of three" said Kevin pissed.

Clap! Clap! "Finally, Kevin's your name right. It's been so long since I've played catch. Ever since my sister got hospitalized it's like I can't enjoy myself anymore. The smile is just for show" said Fei with a grin. Kevin went inside his pocket and took out a marble. He rolled the marble over to Fei and told him.

"I have a sister too. She's the reason why I am here. I need this special potion to heal her injuries" said Kevin.

"I see. I wish you luck then" replied Fei. Fei explained the rules of the first game they were about to play. "We're going to throw this marble at each other. The first person to make it touch the ground loses. Don't worry if you lose this one. We'll have two other games after this. You just have to win two out of the three" said Fei.

The two stood fifteen feet apart from each other. Fei threw the marble first. The marble went over Kevin's head about to touch the ground. He ran backward as quickly as he could then caught the marble with his left hand. Fei was impressed by Kevin's speed. He never expected him to catch the marble as easily as he did. "Good work. Let's go again" said Fei. Kevin lower his right hand with the marble then swung it upwards. Kevin purposely sent the marble far into the sky for it to be impossible to catch. Just before the marble went over Fei's head he jumped.

"Too slow" Fei grinned.

He caught the marble but it slipped out his hand. He managed to get a hold of it before it touched the floor. "This boy clearly has the advantage here. His gift must have something to do with his physical prowess. This game is a losing one" Kevin thought to himself. Fei threw the marble again and Kevin managed to catch it. They continued throwing the marble back and forth for over ten minutes. Fei grew tired of this throwing game so he threw the marble at his top speed. The marble appeared to have vanished but Kevin was no fool. Judging by how Fei threw the marble it was lower than usual. "The marble isn't high up. He's depending on its speed to get past me" thought Kevin. He instinctively raised both his hands up in the hope he could catch the marble. Sadly for him, the marble already went past him when he raised his hands. Predicting its movement was pointless.

PING!

The marble hit the statue then fell on the ground. Fei sighed and pushed his hand towards Kevin for a handshake. "You lasted longer than I thought. That was fun. Your turn to pick a game. Make sure it requires that marble of yours" said Fei excitedly.

"This boy is an odd one. I have to admit I enjoyed the game we just played. To think I came here willing to kill anyone for my sister. Against this kid and only against him I'll refuse violence" thought Kevin.

"The games I would like to play have requires at least two marbles. Have any suggestions?"

While Fei and Kevin tried deciding on the next game back in Arcland Harriot and Sue got into a sudden argument. Harriot made a mistake by using the word abandoned when talking about his past. "So did you abandon me and Fei? Even after our mother died from the disease did you even care? I find it ironic that you finally came back when a special event is taking place. You came here to use my brother I can tell" said Sue angrily.

"No, the reason I left you two for so long was that I needed to become part of the Golden Circle. I couldn't accomplish that if I had stayed here and played dad. This was necessary so that I could get a second shot to save you, Sue. I won the last Dragon Hunt and rescued Fei because I knew he would attain a gift eventually. I wasn't sure about you" replied Harriot.

"We have phones, cars, and social media. You could have kept in contact with us at least" said Sue.

"I admit that somewhere down the line I forgot about you two but here I am now. Please forgive me for this once okay. You'll live a long and happy life I guarantee it" said Harriot. They turned their attention to the screen watching Fei and Kevin playing a game.

Their next game was Guess Which Tree?

Fei hid the marble behind one of three trees while Kevin turned his back towards him with his eyes closed. "All done, you can turn around now," said Fei. Kevin turned around and looked at the three trees in front of him. He had to decide which of the tree is hiding the marble. "I'll go with the left," said Kevin.

Fei sighed and agreed with Kevin. He picked up the marble from the left tree and said "You got lucky. Now it's my turn". Kevin celebrated his victory with a dance. The two swapped places. Kevin went and hid the marble while Fei closed his eyes with his back turned. Kevin hid the marble behind a tree then told Fei "You can turn around now little man. Pick a tree"

"The left feels likely but so is the right. The middle is probably the most obvious one. That's what he wants me to think. I bet it's the middle" thought Fei. He pointed at the middle tree. Kevin laughed at Fei's pick. He went behind the left tree and took up the marble.

"Seriously. I can't believe I got that wrong" complained Fei.

"When it boils down to luck I gotta say you suck" teased Kevin.

"We're tied. The next game will decide who gets to stay at this place. What will it be? It has to be equally fair for the two of us" said Fei. "How about you try stealing the marble from me. I'll give you one minute to steal it. If I still have it over a minute I win. With your ridiculous speed, you should be okay with the time" suggested Kevin. Fei liked the sound of that suggestion. "Okay, will you have the marble in your hand or pocket?" asked Fei.

"Is pocket fine with you?"

"Yeah, it is. Ready" said Fei. Kevin put the marble in his back pocket. Fei charged at him ready for a steal. Fei snuck up behind Kevin and pushed his hand into his back pocket. Kevin elbowed Fei in the chest then pushed him. "Oww, is that allowed?" Fei cried. Fei almost fell off his feet just from one hit. "That hurt more than it should. I shouldn't prolong this" thought Fei

"50 seconds left"

Kevin ran around the statue while being chased by Fei. The moment Fei got in range he pushed out his hands and grabbed onto Kevin's back pockets. Kevin swung both his fist at Fei but none of them connected. Fei took one step back then jumped in the air. He kneed Kevin in the face then wrapped his legs around his neck.

BAAAAAAM!

Fei slammed Kevin to the ground harshly using only his feet. This was the moment where Kevin realized Fei isn't just fast. He's an incredible fighter without his speed. Kevin tried to stand up but Fei wouldn't let him. Punches after punches met Kevin's face so fast he couldn't react to any of them. "This guy is a punching machine" cried Kevin.

BEESH! BEESH! BEESH! BEESH! BEESH! BEESH! BEESH! BEESH! BEESH! BEESH! BEESH!

BEESH! BEESH! BEESH! BEESH! BEESH! BEESH! BEESH! BEESH! BEESH! BEESH! BEESH!

After twenty consecutive punches under 3 seconds, Kevin was out of commission. He was knocked out cold. Fei turned Kevin over on his face and took the marble out of his back pocket. "I win. Good game" smiled Fei.

"I thought they weren't going to use violence. Fei isn't the type to go back on his word so quickly" said Sue surprised. Sue was relieved that Fei passed his round but slightly disappointed by how it ended. Harriot pointed at Fei's stomach on the screen and said "It may not look it but your brother is in a constant amount of pain. The punch he received to the stomach almost knocked him out. Seconds later Fei sat beside the Dragon Statue and started rubbing his stomach while coughing up blood. His eyes became red and his breathing was unstable. Everyone in the private room who spectated Fei's actions wrote down his name as a potential threat.

"How can you best someone who's that skilled in combat? His speed is hacks and his martial arts aren't of a noob" wondered Miya nervously. A drone flew closer to Fei and congratulated him. "Fei Rune! You pass the First Round".

"Awesome, can I get something to eat" Fei giggled.
