Chapter Seven: Sparring With Gohan.

Wanting to change the subject Kai asked. "So you were a student under the legendary turtle hermit, Master Roshi?" before taking another bit of the meat and slow savouring it.

"Ahh, Yes I suppose you would know about him." chuckled Gohan.

"Ofcourse, any self-respecting martial artist knows about the turtle and crane schools."

Replied Kai with a grin and boasted. "A pity they can't compare with my family's Nanshin Shadow Style."

Gohan laughed loudly at that making Goku look at him in confusion. "Isn't grandpa the strongest?"

Still chuckling lightly Gohan shook his head. "No my boy, not even close. I am very old now and these bones of mine are starting to find it hard to move." he said good naturedly.

"I would love the opportunity to spar with Master Gohan perhaps after we finish up eating?" Kai suggested as he'd yet to have an actual opportunity to fight someone who was not a shadow figure in his mind scape.

"Im sorry young Kai. but it will be dark soon and we sleep early in this house, however if you're still up for it tomorrow I would be happy to accompany you in a sparring session." Gohan said with a mirthful smile.

"Ohh yay, I get to watch a fight!" Goku exclaimed excitedly throwing his arms up and cheering.

Grinning at Goku's child like innocents Kai looked back to Gohan and bowed his head in respect. "Yes thank you Master Gohan, it would be an honour to spar with you."

Waving him off again Gohan replied. "Don't mind it, a bit of stretching is good for the health." and continued on a prior topic. "Anyway do you have any clues to where you can find Korins tower? I can help if you don't know it's location."

Hearing this, Kai ofcourse already knew where it was. Heck he probably knew more about everything then anyone here. but the backstory he used with his father giving him information was only going to get him so far and Kai didn't like lying so often. not that he had a choice, so he decided on only giving part of the answer. "Father once told me it was on the west most side of the continent but that's it, I don't really know if its north-west or South-west."

"Very good, yes, yes you father was right. Korins tower is located to the north-west of the continent. its base concealed by a forest called Korins forest, futher in you will reach the sacred lands of Korin. that is there you can find the Karinga tribes village that sits at the base of Korins tower, they are the lands protectors so it's best you visit and ask them first before attempting the climb that's just basic courtesy though so you won't have a problem there." Gohan finished with a wink.

Kai had the decency to blush, bowing his head in embarrassment and apologised for his loss of control earlier, to which Gohan just smiled and told him not to worry about it.

They finished up the dinner then Goku and Gohan went to sleep while Kai entered his meditation and started his visualisation training.

The next morning everyone got up with the suns rise and while Gohan and Goku did their morning routines, Kai did his own. The group of three found themselves outside doing their own variations of stretches.

Half an hour later the stretching was done and Gohan turned to see a very eager Kai already looking at him. "Well seems like your ready to go." He said with a chuckle.

Kai who had been running simulations in his mind all night was so hyped up, it was starting to bring out his body's more base instincts, kicking his mature thoughts to the back of his head.

He might be more older mentally then what his body was but with his body going through puberty again he sometimes found it difficult to keep himself from acting his age. and at this moment Kai was so excited for his first real spar he was practically getting high from all the adrenalin and dopamines running through his body. Unknowingly Kai was about to start walking the path of a battle junkie.

Gohan chuckled at seeing this from Kai, it was a good change to see rather then the matured polite front he had shown since arriving. "Very well then, we shall start the spar now but first, some ground rules. I don't want my house getting destroyed so no Ki attacks, everything else should be fine just keep yourself from using any attacks that might cripple or maim and obviously no killing though that goes unsaid as it's just a spar." said Gohan as he listed off the rules and watch the myriad of facial expressions pass Kai's face as he spoke ending in a rapid nod.

"Yes, yes ofcourse Master Gohan, as you said it's just a spar. I'm sorry, but I'm just really excited as it's my first time sparring against someone else. please give me a few seconds to calm my self before we start." So saying Kai closed his eyes and started inhaling deeply holding it and exhaling.

He repeated this six more times before he clapped his cheeks in determination and announced. "I'm ready now, thanks for waiting."

This had really helped, as Kai was now more relaxed and focused. the atmosphere changed around him as his temperament sharpened with it .

Gohan motioned Goku to stand back and watch from the step of the house. "Begin!" he said not speaking any more then necessary. He too, was interested in seeing what this young man was capable of.

Hearing Gohan's call to begin the spar Kai took off, dashing towards him and avoiding a palm strike from Gohan's left hand as he reached him, throwing out his own palm, Kai aimed for Gohan's arm knocking it up and countered the incoming right knee with his own left knee by jumping slightly to land his knee on Gohans, his centre of gravity now tilted to his left Kai kicked out with his right leg at Gohan's unprotected side only to have him calmly lower his right arm to take the hit.

Striking out with his left palm again Gohan called out. "Paper!" as he struck the cross guard Kai had just put up.

The hit was a little high forcing Kai to be flung backwards but he used left foot on Gohan's knee to flip himself landing on the ground and preformed a leg sweep on Gohan as he tried to take the seemingly unbalanced elder off his feet, Gohan simply hopped back regaining his stance, he formed two fingers and swung down at Kai saying. "Scissors!" as his attack broke through the new guard Kai had put up as he was standing up. Increasing his speed by a level he stepped in and punched out into Kai's abdomen finishing with his last words. "Rock!"

The clean hit sent Kai back Three metres as the wind was knocked from his chest.

The force of their blows produced small shock waves and Kai could feel Gohan holding back a lot. It was simply a matter of experience. Kai had none apart from his shadow fighting in his mind scape and Gohan had decades worth of it. Even so, a light began to shine in the depths of his eyes as he regained his breath. he was starting to have fun!

I was going to upload this chapter a few days ago but I got hooked reading the wanderer x-man fan fic after the author dropped like 30 chapters then I had family stuff and work. This is my first time writing a fight scene and I'm a bit meh about it. anyway thanks for reading.
