The two warriors stared at eachother intently. Orzo wore a serious expression, his sadness clearly visible underneath, While Jesse sported an excited, vibrant smile, as adrenaline began to flow through him. This would be his first real fight, he'd only had spars.
Both of them held strikingly different emotions in their hearts, yet they held the same goal. To win. Orzo genuinely didn't want Jesse to leave, however if he could beat him he'd let him go on his journey, as he promised. He knew Jesse was much more mature than his age would have one think, and he clearly really wanted to get out into the world, but he just didn't really want to let him go, so he wanted him to prove he was truly stronger than most, so he'd know that he can handle just about anyone.
With a quick shift of his foot, Orzo made the first attack, jumping and running forward directly into Jesse. Being surprised by the sudden attack, Jesse was only just able to block his punch, grabbing his fist. However, Orzo quickly fixed his balance, shifting his feet once again as dust rose up. A second punch quickly came hurtling towards Jesse's stomach.
Jesse didn't have enough time to block or dodge the punch at this range, so he needed to act quickly.
Letting go of Orzo's hand for a moment, he thrust his hand forward and tightly grabbed his forearm. With a quick pull, Orzo's body was forced down to Jesse's height. He quickly used the momentum to bash his own skull against Orzo's, a headbutt. However it didn't stop his opponent's attack like he wished, and he was struck directly into his stomach with Orzo's speeding punch, at almost the exact moment their heads clashed.
In some pain, both of them stumbled backwards as Jesse held his stomach.
"Ow ow ow!"
Jesse groaned in pain. He took more damage from this clash overall, he hurt his head and his stomach. Before he could even fully recover, Orzo went back on the offensive. Rushing forward, he went for a punch directly to Jesse's stomach, trying to hit him where he was already in pain.
The moment before the attack would hit however, Jesse was able to find his footing and block. Their fists clashed each other violently, a successful block. With no time to waste Orzo immediately launched another attack at Jesse. Another block. With both fighters firmly standing their ground, a barrage of fists clashed against each other as Orzo repeatedly punched and Jesse blocked it.
Both of them were beginning to get tired from the onslaught however, so as soon as he found an opening, Orzo put a stop to it. With a swift and sudden dodge downwards, he swept Jesse's feet from under him. As he was falling over, Orzo turned around and kicked him straight in the chest.
Jesse had the wind knocked out of him as he was launched across the courtyard, smashing against a wall. Seeing his mentor lunging towards him, Jesse snapped out of his pain and his mind raced.
'I've gotta do something fast, grandpas stronger than I thought...'
Only moments before Orzo's onslaught would continue, Jesse dodged down to avoid the attack, letting himself fall to the ground. Before Orzo could react, Jesse kicked up from the ground into his stomach, launching him to the other side of the arena.
Orzo grunted lightly in pain and gripped his stomach, right before he crashed into the wall, he was able to stop himself by firmly planting his feet on the ground, stopping his velocity.
Both fighters, now on opposite sides of the arena, stared at each other, their heavy breathing was the only thing stopping total silence.
"You've grown a lot Jesse, even in your youth, you're almost as strong as me, perhaps I'm being too rough on you... We can end this now, and I will let you leave..."
They both continued to stare at eachother, before the silence was broken by Jesse response.
"No..."
Jesse shook his head slightly and continued.
"Let me... Haaaa... Prove... Haaa... I'm strong. Let me do this the right way!"
Jesse with some passion in his voice. His pride wouldn't let him accept the offer. He always thought Vegeta's pride was stupid, one of the most annoying parts of the series at many points, but in his time here he started to understand the sentiment, and he'd grown a bit of pride himself.
Orzo smiled at his pupil, his adopted son, he had a feeling he'd become something truly great in the future.
"Fine. Come at me then, show me everything you have!"
Both of them got back into their fighting positions and the fight was back on. Jesse immediately started with a flying kick, he knew he had to take the offensive.
However, Orzo was easily able to grab Jesse's legs. He tried to slam him into the ground, but Jesse planned for that to happen. Using the momentum of Orzo's swing, Jesse turned around backwards, and used both his fists to strike him straight in the stomach.
With the wind knocked out of Orzo, Jesse was released. While falling, he grabbed onto Orzo's stationary arms and used his momentum to kick him straight in the stomach once again. But instead of being launched back, Orzo suddenly recovered.
Immediately he used the situation to his advantage, grabbing Jesse by the chest and punching him straight in the face. Falling onto the ground, Jesse was assaulted by punch after punch. There was nothing he could do, his decision to get grabbed for that attack almost worked, but ultimately it was working against him.
He tried to focus, trying to find an opening in the assault, but instead he felt something else. A familiar feeling that he'd been feeling for awhile now, something he'd been trying to pull out, his ki.
'Is this it...?'
He focused hard on the feeling, trying to ignore the repeated punches he was being struck by, which was quite hard. The feeling grew and grew and then suddenly, a faint white light covered Jesse as a weak explosion of ki erupted from his body, knocking Orzo away. Confusion immediately entered Orzo's mind but he had no time to think about it as Jesse rushed him with new blinding speeds.
'Guess im gonna win by an asspull... its my own power though, so not really unfair.'
He thought to himself before launching a violent blow towards Orzo's face. Only an inch away from his face, he stopped, he knew Orzo couldn't compete with him anymore.
"You win."
Orzo said, a proud smile on his face. He wasn't sure what this power his student, no his son, had unlocked, but he was exceedingly proud of him, he knew he was destined for greatness.
At the same time, both of them collapsed on the ground, tired from their fight. As he sat there, exhausted, there was only one thing running through Jesse's mind. Excitement, both that he had unlocked his ki, and that he would now start his real journey.
The first fight in the novel, hope you guys enjoyed! I feel I could've done a better job on this but I think I did an alright enough job at it. As always comment feedback, ideas, or just really whatever you want. And if you can, leave a review and maybe some power stones!
