Planning Southward

Jon stood on the outer wall overlooking the army he had gathered. The lords of the North were taking much more time than he had anticipated and the Riverlands were sending reports frequently asking for aid in what seemed to be a dire situation. Nearly three weeks had passed and most of his army were gathered a short distance south of Moat Cailin to which he would be setting off for in a few hours. The supplies he was bringing would supply his men with food and drink for at least two weeks if used sparsely but he would also have his supply lines reinforced to supplement his forces. Having supplied nearly fifty thousand soldiers to the cause of the North in this upcoming conflict to be had.

This whole time Jon had been sending out letters to all he deemed worth his time, some more than others. Establishing friendly relations and proposing trade agreements all to those he had listed as possible prospects. A few lords in the North already were under his sway and having ties strengthened by those very lords would help boost his standing. To the south, he only cared for a few places, namely Dorne, the Reach, and small parts of the Stormlands and Westerlands. All of which, he had already branched out his letters and sent his greetings to those he wished to establish rapport with.

Now while doing all of these while during war time was going to make it harder in some cases and may even make it easier in other cases. Just as some people valued the strong while some valued opportunity or riches. It mattered little to Jon as he equipped his armor and weapons while grabbing a few things to bring with him. The young lad who had helped him with the equipment as the cold winds brushed their cheeks brought chills to them but the wall's high vantage point was perfect for Jon. He checked over his abilities and saw little he wished to acquire at the moment so left it as it is. Turning on his heel, he thought of one thing that he might want while also now barely noticing the new quest.

Having read through the screen and noting the changes, he quickly used almost a fourth of his points to boost his low understanding of various languages to assist in his talks with more distant lands and help in his understanding of some of the books he had purchased. After that was done he boosted his durability and toughness by adding the skill layered scales which in all honest opinion probably wasn't the best choice when he thought about it. He knew his abilities could alter him temporarily but some may even be permanent he thought as his eyes washed over the iridescent purple almost black scales that you could see over his skin on the back of his hands and his palms. The whole feeling was weird like some under the skin itch till finally going away only leaving a new layer of protection on his body. The scales lasted for a good hour before slowly sinking under his skin much to his relief.

Mounting his horse, he began his journey to the fort his men were occupying south of Moat Cailin leading to Greywater Watch. While short and uneventful, he soon caught sight of the massive fortress standing tall in the distance. Its twelve towers circling the inside of the outer wall's perimeter keep watch. Three massive walls each standing each at sixty feet in height and thirty feet in thickness offering plenty of room for soldiers atop its defenses. Between two towers would be a large open space with a catapult stationed on it with enough ammunition to load it fifty times with six reserve warehouses nearby for more.

Four massive gates twenty feet high and ten feet thick barred entrance to all except its chosen. House Winters flags danced in the wind decorated atop its towers and walls with a banner on each side of the gate showing its allegiance. Grandiose in all acclaim by the standards especially when you note the Behemoth called a castle lying in wait in the very center. The whole expanse took up much of the available land but it would ensure no one could enter the North or leave without first getting passage known by Jon Winter himself. A garrison would be left of ten thousand soldiers and while leaving one fifth of his soldiers behind was not always wise, he saw it as a sure fire way to ensure he had reinforcements, a safe ground to go to if he so desired. Five thousand of the garrisoned men would be tasked with patrols and ensuring order in the north alongside the five thousand garrison in Moat Cailin and the two thousand from his newly built port city in the Fever river going outward to the sea from Blazewater Bay.

The second port city was even closer to Moat Cailin the the east giving access to the Shivering sea named Freezing Port. The name itself held no significance other than having a moniker for a map to recall on. What was important was how the small port town had shifted into a bustling trade port that could hold over a hundred ships at a time. The rising power of naval strength had caused alarm but more than half of his ships were trading ships and were used to supplement most of his endeavors. Fever Port or as many were calling it had a more strategic purpose with its shipbuilders and large walls on land and sea supported by underwater supports gave the whole port an imposing presence. Jon had supplied the port with oil barrels tucked away in underground warehouses nearing fifty feet down.

With the only access being when the two commanders used both of their keys to unlock three doors one after the other. The problem being that there were five locks on each door and if you used the key on the wrong lock then the doors wouldn't open no matter how hard you tried till Jon used his very own blood to reset the locking mechanism. Something he learned from Ella when he was discussing safety measures in case of sabotage. While some would say he was being paranoid, many had called it a good idea considering how many spies many lords employed. The three locations were important to Jon for each had a specific purpose, one for his naval locking point, one to propose trade and increase his financial and diplomatic power and one to hold as a shield in any case he ever should need one from outside forces.

Jon had already sent the letter to Robb weeks ago and finally received one back. While had many plans going on at once, he was short sighted for now due to the quest he had received and wished to receive his just due as soon as he could. With the thought in mind while opening the letter received, he read Robb's acknowledgement and approval. Smiling just as he used to when he was younger, he started to hum a happy tune as he opened the war room's doors catching sight of three men all of which stood and bowed in unison.

"We're ready to fight, to die, and to serve, my lord."

Hearing Loran speak, the smile only became wider till Jon sat down, the polished ornate chair creaking slightly by his large frame and added armor weight.

'I suppose while we're away, we should replace the chairs with something sturdier to handle larger people.'

Jon thought for a short moment before staring at the map with wooden painted figurines on the table before moving the pieces to the latest reports readings. Multiple wolves in the North gather into a pack. Lions spread into their own domains lurking for easy prey, floundering fish hoping not to be caught. Flowers blooming down in the Reach with tiny thorns adorned under its petals. Snakes hiding in the shadows of Dorne's sand castles.

A wounded and sickly looking kraken biding its time in the Iron Islands. While Two stags separate and take up different colors. All the while on the point of his location, one large three headed wolf with scaly fur, its three heads howling in fury towards the sky to be heard as its large wings spread wide drawing attention to the long spike tipped tails and sharp claws for its paws. Something he felt most comfortably calling a chimera or something along its line. He'd possibly cement its name after the war was over after some given thought. His eyes flickered back to the blooming rose and the snake lying in wait.

'Let's see if this will elicit your excitement enough.'

Hey eveyone, hope you enjoy the castle, hopfully starting to see the true progress hes made from when he was just twelve years old to the eightteen year old he is now. catching a glimpse of his plans and what he hopes to accomplish. Peicing the puzzle peices together till we finally see the result. Hope you like the description of the beast that will be his moniker. A mixture of stark and Targaryen heritage. Give me ideas for a name for the beast and any suggestions you may have. I'd love to hear them. Hope you have a great day!
