48 Cancelled date

She dialed Glenn's number again, this time he picked up the phone and answered. She put it on speakerphone.

"You're both cruel. I even added some romantics notes at the end of the recording and you just hang up on me." he sounded like a sulking child on the other line. And what romantic notes are you talking about? Are you not busy enough being a father?

"Shut up man. You did not even edit out that blunder on the recording. Are you planning to betray me?" Glenn just laughed on the other line.

"Rascal, that's not true. I just thought Yumi would feel your sincerity if she hears the real you. It's more genuine." she silently agreed with him as it's also the same reason she changed her outlook on him.

She never thought a man like him could do such a thing. It's too...soft. A big contrast on his strong personality.

"Stop it. You're just making excuses. Where's our dinner? Don't tell me you forgot it. I really won't give you your salary." they heard his boisterous laughter on the other end.

"I'm on my way. Bring a jacket as it may be cold outside." her ears perked up.

"Hey, what jacket are you talking about? And why would it be cold?" she voiced her concern before she could even think about it.

"Relax, we won't hurt you." She felt more afraid when she heard him answer. Why does it sound like I'm getting ready to be slaughtered?

"Well you already did that before. Remember when you pushe-" she stopped talking when she realized what she just said. He suddenly grew silent again. Even Glenn, who's laughing loudly, also came to a halt.

"Ow, I'm--" Me. And. My. Big. Mouth. Why do I always keep shoving my foot in my mouth?

"That's definitely my fault. I am such a jerk. I'm so sorry Yumi, maybe I really don't deserve you at all." he clenched his fists.

He looks like he was about to puch someone any moment now. She held onto his fist trying to coax him to relax.

"I was also at fault during that time. I'm sorry. Let's go have dinner now."

"Yeah. Glenn, please help us carry the meal outside. We'll just have dinner at the terrace." he still sounded glum.

"So our first date is now cancelled." She joked to ease the tension building up. Why did I say it? Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!

"I agree with her Chryxso, you planned for this for a couple of days."

"Shut up man." they heard the sound of a car stopping in front of the mansion. Chryxso's phone just beeped as the single father hung up on them. Glenn stepped out of the car, carrying some stuff.

"That was fast. I haven't even persuaded him to change his mind and you're already here?" she complained but still opened the door and help him carry some things inside.

"I'm really sorry Yumi." he's still deep inside his own melancholy. Why is he acting like my brother? Is he looking to get beaten up, too?

Can the self-reproach syndrome just stay at home with my brother and not follow me here?

"You want me to forgive you? Then stand up and let's continue our date. Don't refuse me when I'm hungry or else I'll twist your neck." His face lit up. She shared a look with Glenn and they both smiled. It's really hard taking care of a childish adult.

"Okay. Let's not go out anymore or somebody may see you and end up being my competitor. It's harder today that I can't see them. I can't knock them out. Let's just stay and eat here." Somebody's resorting to violence now.

"You're the boss."

"Let's go visit the study," they turned to him with confused looks. He looked like he has his own world. He's smiling by himself. Are we supposed to smile, too?

"Earth to Chryxso, We're eating not studying."

"I know that silly. That's why we need to go to the study." she looked at him incredulously. Something's wrong. Something's very very wrong.

"You're not making sense anymore. Are you running a fever?"

"Yeah, I'm so sick in love and you're the only nurse I want." Oh crap! She wanted to roll her eyes but when she realized that Glenn heard it too, her cheeks flushed bright red from shame. How could he say that in front of other people. Well, Glenn is not other people, so. But still...

"Hey, take it easy. Yumi may not stomach your shamelessness." Glenn cut in when he saw her blushing profusely.

"Shut up man, mind your own business. If I regain my sight, I may not even be able to look at her in the eyes so I'll just take advantege of this opportunity. At least I won't see if she laughs at me." This person and his tricks. I cannot.

"I won't laugh at you but you may want to take it slow. If you ran out of cute words I may get tired of you." Mayu joked.

"Huh?" he looked terrified. Here we go again. Can I just punch him? Just once.

"Can't we eat now?" she said to prevent him from self-reproaching again.

"I want to show something to you." she turned towards Glenn, who just shook his head. Looks like this is not part of their plan.

"Okay, just make sure we won't be reading any books. I'm done reading when I was studying." he just laughed.

"It's funny to know that you are a writer and you don't like books."

"Life is just like that. Don't leak this to my fans or else I'll get scolded by them. Hehehe."

"Why would I do that? I'll get them scolded if they do anything bad to you."

"Wuuu, stop." she guided him towards the study while Glenn carried their dinner with him.

The study is so huge, it was dome-shaped. She flicked the switch to turn the lights on but when Chryxso heard it, he just reach out to switch the lights off. Now, he wants to make us blind, too!
