1 Professional Killer Silver

In a small one bedroom apartment on the outskirts of New York City, a despondent young man was in his bed well past noon. With stomach growling the man finally built up the energy to climb out of bed. The young man was well built, and had sharp silver eyes, with an indescribable aura of danger.

He walked over to the kitchen and grabbed a near-empty bag of rice, after devouring a bowl he grabbed his phone to make a call.

"Hey George, got any work for me?" The young man said with hope in his voice.

"Oh...Silver, sorry work isn't easy to find these days since everyone is spending more and more time online and real-world identities are impossible to find."

"Maybe I should start looking to do something else, killing can't even pay the bills anymore." Silver Alistair, who was turning 22 in a few days, remembered a time when he had enough jobs to ease his mental trauma.

Silver's parents had run the Alistair Floral Shop, which had been a well-known shop in the community. Unfortunately, they were killed by thugs who were hired by a failing floral competitor. Silver - who was just seven at the time - was picked up and trained by his uncle George. George was quite strict, but he allowed Silver to choose his own path. At 12, 5 years after his parents were killed, Silver achieved his vengeance; not just killing the thugs, but also the now flourishing floral store owner that hired them. After getting his vengeance Silver started a killing business which accepted any task where he deemed the target morally reprehensible, no matter the pay. Silver's adolescence was packed full with school, training, and jobs. Over time he became a prominent figure in the industry, which coincidentally gained him a nickname that matched his name, Silver.

"It's not like killing is completely dead, why not restart your business in the game that Nexus is releasing?"

The VRMMORPG market had been constantly gaining mainstream traction; it was only being held back by the price point of over $10,000 USD for the cheapest Virtual Reality Unit (VRU). Now with the support of the United Nations, tech company Nexus has created a VRU costing only $2,000. The VRU is advertised to replicate reality by over 99%, over 10% higher than any other unit on the current market. The VRU will even have a life support system which allows users to stay within for days with limited consequences to health.

"Uncle, I don't have a penny left in my account, I don't even know how I'm gonna make rent this month."

"Well lucky for you I already purchased the new VRU for you."

"Uncle Com-" Silver was cut off before being able to finish.

"Just accept it, I'm sure I could use your help in the game. I've already ordered it to your apartment; it should arrive today. Servers open tonight, make sure not to fall behind, see you later!" Silver was left with clenched fists, without being able to say a single word in response.

George was not a very ethical assassin when he was young. He had boundaries he wouldn't cross, but money was his first priority. This caused him to amass a large amount of wealth, which still lasted to this day. Although George wouldn't miss it, Silver was still very unwilling to accept George's money. Not because it may have been earned unscrupulously, but because he did not dare to accept any more kindness from George, to whom Silver owed his life to.

Between school, training, and missions, Silver's schedule had been completely full up until recently, leaving him with no time for games. Now everything was different, Silver had no missions, had already graduated from a local university, and his body - which was already at its' peek - needed very little training to maintain.

Without any clear goals left for him, Silver decided to trust his uncle's decision. He decided to place all of his effort into the game. Silver would not go in blindly and decided to first research what is known about the game.

Draconic was the new game developed by Nexus and had been in development for the past 10 years with an absolutely bonkers budget. The game is split into 4 different continents, each controlled by a different empire; The Northern Empire controlled by Elves, the Eastern Empire controlled by Humans, the Western Empire Controlled by Dragons, and the Southern Alliance controlled by a variety of races. Each continent is balanced in terms of resources and power, but specific strengths and specialties are not yet known.

Each Continent has a wide variety of races, allowing all races to start in any empire. Draconic has 5 different races to choose from;

Human: A race with all-around balanced attributes.

Elf: A Race with an innate talent in magic, and a connection to nature.

Dragonborn: A warrior race with a powerful body.

Dwarf: A robust warrior race, known for their craftsmen.

Halfling: A Small race who excel at survival.

Each race can choose from any of the 10 available classes;

Warrior: Has both strong offensive and defensive capabilities.

Paladin: A more defensive warrior with healing, and buffing capabilities.

Knight: The highest defensive capabilities, with mediocre offensive ability.

Monk: Skilled in close combat using their hands, and feet.

Assassin: Has both high speed, and burst damage, but low defensive capabilities.

Marksman: Skilled with a variety of ranged weaponry.

Tamer: Has the ability to control terrifying monsters.

Wizard: Has a frail physique, and powerful offensive magic ability.

Priest: The strongest healer with a need to be protected.

Mystic: A healer, who also excels in buffing.

A Race and Class will directly affect how attributes convert. (Example For each Strength stat an assassin gains they will only gain .8 Attack. compared to a Warrior which will gain 1.1 Attack)

After researching for a few hours Silver arrived on a popular forum, on which Draconic made up over 90% of the trending topics. The anticipation for the game was record-breaking. Just the preorders of the game have reached 1 billion.

Silver then received a text notification that his VRU has arrived and need to be signed for outside. The seemingly exhausted delivery driver assisted in bringing the device to the room and then slowly crawled out the door, likely to deliver another VRU.

The device was similar to a bed and came with a supply of liquid nutrients which could allow a person to stay in the game for days at a time. After the device was set up Silver made final preparations to enter the game.

A quarter to midnight Silver lied down in the VRU and readied himself to enter.

Finally on Thursday, April 3, 2059, at 12:00 AM (00:00) Draconic was launched.
