Chapter 1

*Holy Spirit Village*

It was during one of the colder summers when the head of the village, Jack, came back to the village with a child in his arms. Apparently, he found the boy inside a basket that was flowing down the river. Soon, everyone in the village knew that Jack wanted to adopt a young boy and so more than half of the residents attended a small adoption ceremony in which Jack bestowed the child a name, Adam.

{5 years later}

*Holy Spirit Village, Forest*

Inside a dense forest, a young boy with silver hair was running around. He was almost 5 feet tall (1,4m) and had deep green eyes. Every now and then he would stop to pick up some plants only to place them into his pouch and run further away. After 10 more minutes, Adam looked at the sun and decided that it's enough for today, after all, he should be back in the village before noon.

After running back to the Holy Spirit village adhering to his everyday routine Adam went to find the village head. Thanks to his year of experience he quickly found him, Old Jack was walking around the centre of the village. Just as Adam wanted to greet the village head, Jack called out to him.

"Hello Adam, how was your hunt today?" said Jack with a good-natured chuckle.

"Tsk, Old man, you know best that I'm not hunting anything at all, aside from that, can you finally stop teasing me about that?" Almost every day ever since Adam found his first herb Jack teased him for his reaction.

<=Flashback half a year ago=>

Adam came back home around an hour before sunset. He was very different from his usual quiet self. He wore a proud smirk when he approached the village head.

Jack, seeing Adam's smirk and his usual calm deep green eyes almost sparkling green light out of them smiled.

"How was your day Adam? Did you have fun?" Although Jack said so he inwardly thought that Adam is a bit too different from young children. He was way too calm and composed for his age and aside from Tang San he didn't have any friends.

"Yes, I had a lot of fun!"

"Did you make any new friends?"

Adam's eyes somehow dimmed.

'So he still hasn't made any new friends ' thought Jack.

"Okay, okay, it's nothing, sooner or later you will make more friends."

"Grandpa, I already have a friend and you know him."

"Yes, I know that you train with Tang San often" 'Even old drunkard Hao started to drink less thanks to you.'

"So today you were with Tang San? What both of you did to make you so proud of it?"

"No, today I was ALONE, Tang San had to help his dad." said Adam smirking even more.

"Okey, I give up, can you tell me what makes you so proud?"

"I have hunted a treasure in the forest! " Answered proudly Adam.

Jack's face sank. The old man almost trambled from both fear and anger but looking at the boy he hadn't found any traces of blood which helped him calm down.

"Adam, what did you 'hunt'?" Jack asked in a distressed tone.

Adam, unaware of the change in Jack's tone, pulled a beautiful herb (similar to white lily) from his bag and waved it in front of Jack.

"Grandpa, look I hunted this treasure today."

<=End of the flashback=>

"No, I won't stop teasing you unless you do another childish mistake. " Jack said mischievously.

"Wait, by then won't you have another thing to tease me about!?" asked affronted Adam.

"That's the charm of it, Adam, that's the charm." laughed heartily Jack.

"But seriously now, how was your gathering today?"

"It was okay, we should make a few silvers from herbs I recognized, there are a few new ones so we might be in for some extra."

"Good. It's all thanks to you that all children in the village can read and write, with it they will go further in their lives."

"Am I not a child though?" asked affronted Adam.

"That you are, that you are." laughed Jack once again.

Adam just shook his head and wordlessly handed herbs to his village head.

"I'm going back to train, see you later grandfather."

After saying so Adam ran back to the forest.

It was his everyday routine to wake up with sunrise at 6 am. do 1,5 hour of random exercises learned from Tang San, go back home to eat his breakfast and make one for his grandfather then set out for 4 hours of looking for various medicinal herbs. After that, it was either meditation in the forest or sparring and playing around with Tang San. Even though every time it came to sparring or just fighting each other about something Adam found it bluntly obvious that Tang San was holding back a great deal. Even though he started to train according to what his best friend advised he still couldn't make him sweat during sparring matches.

When Adam arrived at the spot where he meditated last time he sighed. Tang San taught him how to meditate a few days before he had 'hunted' his first spirit herb but his own way had a side effect.

'As expected every plant around is already half-dead, I will have to once again change the spot after today.'

It was the only thing about the training he did differently from Tang San. His different meditation stems from different abilities that appeared out of thin air.

He had two very simple abilities. The first one allowed him to feel the life force of plants around him, this ability awoke on the same day when he found his first spirit herb. When he told about this to his grandfather, Old Jack forbade him from revealing this to anyone else. His grandfather said something about poor man treasure brings calamity or something. He just followed what his grandfather said.

When it comes to his second ability, this one revealed itself when he meditated for the first time. Tang San taught him how to absorb something from the air but during this practice, he found out that he could also absorb things from the grass around him. After days of testing, he found out that after meditating in the same spot plants grew weaker and when he used his first ability to check on them Adam understood that his meditation could 'feed' on plants. Around a week later he managed to separate things he absorbed into two types. The first one could be found in the air and in the plants while the other one could only be found in the plants. But even though it was already half a year since I started meditating I still don't know that they do aside from letting me think more clearly and slightly strengthing my body.

<=Time skip 1 year=>

(Both, Tang San and Adam are 6yo and you know what this mean)

It was already well past sunrise and Adam as always was gathering herbs in the forest next to the Holy Spirit village. This time though he was very annoyed. Ever since he started his meditation exercise both his body and mind were strengthening at an unbelievable pace but around two months ago his mind hit an invisible barrier. Since then not only he couldn't strengthen his mind further but also got a weird feeling. The apt description of this feeling Adam could come with was that he had a hole inside. It was like he had a wound that didn't hurt but couldn't be closed either.

And during these 2 months, this feeling grew to an almost unbearable level. There were times when he was annoyed enough to snap at his grandfather, even though he almost instantly apologised it still left a sour taste inside his mouth. Aside from that, during last year he distanced himself from other children save for Tang San even more, nowadays he only exchanged greetings with them and that's it.

During last year his routine had a slight change, ever since he started to venture deeper into forest there were times when Tang San accompanied him. They fought quite a few animals and Adam grew overconfident. During one of his solo ventures, he encountered a spirit tiger.

Adam fought the spirit tiger for a few hours and even though he won in the end he would have died if not for Tang San who found him during the night on the same day. Later on, when Adam asked his grandfather about the white ring which appeared he got a basic rundown of what the spirit rings are and how they are classified.

(INFORMATIONS LIKE THIS WILL BE INCLUDED BCS THERE ARE PPL WHO DONT REMEMBER THEM)

Spirit Beasts grow stronger as they age and after the spirit master kills spirit beast it simply drops the spirit ring. Rings are classified into :

10-99 years old - White Rings

100-999 years old - Yellow Rings

1000-9999 years old - Purple Rings

10 000-99 999 years old - Black Rings

Aside from spirit beasts when Adam asked about the so-called "Spirit Masters" his grandfather explained how Ranks work and called out all titles that come from absorbing rings :

Rank 1 - 10 - Spirit Scholar

Rank 11 - 20 - Spirit Master (1 Spirit Ring)

Rank 21 - 30 : Spirit Grandmaster (2 Spirit Rings)

Rank 31 - 40 : Spirit Elder (3 Spirit Rings)

Rank 41 - 50 : Spirit Ancestor (4 Spirit Rings)

Rank 51 - 60 : Spirit King (5 Spirit Rings)

Rank 61 - 70 : Spirit Emperor (6 Spirit Rings)

Rank 71 - 80 : Spirit Saint (7 Spirit Rings)

Rank 81 - 90 : Spirit Douluo (8 Spirit Rings)

Rank 91 - 98 : Titled Douluo (9 Spirit Rings)

After hearing about this Adam asked the next most logical question.

"So am I a spirit master? After all, the tiger left behind a White Ring."

Jack just smiled bitterly.

"I don't know Adam, you can't be counted as spirit master without undergoing an awaking ceremony"

"When can I undergo it?"

"When you are old enough, I will tell you"

And this time finally came. Today Adam would know which spirit he has. Even though he had many theories that his abilities came from it without actually undergoing this ceremony nothing could be confirmed.

Clearing his thoughts Adam continued to gather herbs. Around noon, as always Adam started to walk towards the village.

This chapter was really hard to write. I didn't know how to write it but still wanted to somehow outline how his life was before getting his memories back!
