35 This spider is rather pitiful

The cavern faintly shook, with dust and sediments falling from the ceiling.

Seeing this, Wang Shóu inwardly rejoiced.

He was glad that he didn't let impulsiveness take over his mind.

If he had directed the Super Electromagnetic Cannon toward the Man-Faced Demon Spider, it is highly likely that the cavern might have collapsed upon them.

While he might be able to survive, the heaven and earth treasures would be completely buried.

Even more troublesome is that he can't use brute power to destroy the rubble, or he might risk destroying the heaven and earth treasures too.

So using it on the Man-Faced Demon Spider is a lose-lose situation for him.

But he did get to see the power of his rip-off Super Electromagnetic Cannon, so it wasn't a waste using it.

When devising his own new move, he suddenly got an idea to borrow moves from fictional anime and manga that he had seen in his past life.

Though the moves come from fictional sources, considering that Pokemon and Douluo thought to be fictional actually exist, theoretically the moves should be able to work.

Of course, another reason is that he doesn't want to waste his brain cells on trying to make new moves that may not be successful.

Thankfully, the moves from fictional anime and manga did indeed work, and brilliantly at that too.

'I should replicate more moves and skills from fictions in the future...no harm in having more trump cards.'

Nodding inwardly, Wang Shóu glanced at the Man-Faced Demon Spider.

'But now what should I do with it?...I did say that I won't kill the spirit beasts guarding the heaven and earth treasures.'

'But the problem is...that this is the Man-Faced Demon Spider, an absolute terror.'

Thankfully, Wang Shóu didn't have to think too much.

Because suddenly, the Man-Faced Demon Spider, who just recovered from the paralysis, plopped down on its legs.

"Screech!" (I surrender! Please don't kill me, sir!)

???

Wang Shóu had a question mark on his head.

...What? The Man-Face Demon Spider, widely feared by both humans and spirit beasts, is cowardly surrendering to himself right now?!

Having a wonderful expression on his face, Wang Shóu hesitatingly asked the Man-Faced Demon Spider.

"Pika, Pika." (Give me a good reason why I shouldn't kill you now.)

"Pika, Pika, Pika." (After all, your race has a terrible reputation outside in the world, you know. Why should I spare someone who could potentially become a walking disaster?)

Hearing that, the Man-Faced Demon Spider hurriedly shook its head.

"Screech, screech, screech!" (I haven't killed anyone! I swear! I've lived here since my birth. For over 5,000 years, I had to rely on eating moss and bugs!)

The Man-Faced Demon Spider, said sobbing, vehemently denying Wang Shóu's claim.

"..."

Perhaps because he is a Pokemon, but Wang Shóu is able to detect whether the other people are lying or not.

And his intuition is telling him that the Man-Faced Demon Spider is not lying.

And to further support Man-Faced Demon Spider's claim, there were no traces of corpses or skeletons around in the cave, and the cave looks oddly clean with no moss or bugs.

Also, at the same time, Man-Faced Demon Spider looks severely malnourished, as if it hadn't eaten for months.

That would also explain why Wang Shóu was able to easily defeat the Man-Faced Demon Spider and also the reason why the Man-Faced Demon Spider seems to have no experience in fighting.

Understanding this, Wang Shóu suddenly has sympathy for the Man-Faced Demon Spider.

Since he grew up living with the wolves for five years, and experienced being starved quite frequently, he can easily understand the Man-Faced Demon Spider's circumstances.

Not to mention that the Man-Faced Demon Spider lives in the cave, having to experience starvation for who knows how long.

Wait a minute.

If this Man-Faced Demon Spider really did live in the cave since its birth, then how come it is smarter than one would be in its situation?

Perhaps it could be memory inheritance?

Possibly, as the Douluo Dalu book doesn't really cover everything in the Douluo world and is purely almost focused on the protagonist, who is human.

Driven by curiosity, Wang Shóu asked the Man-Faced Demon Spider in front of him.

"Pika, Pika." (If you did stay in the cave since your birth, why do you seem to be smarter than one should?)

Timidly bowing down on the ground, the Man-Faced Demon Spider looked up at Wang Shóu and cautiously answered.

"Screech, screech." (That's because my parents taught me, sir.)

"..."

Now Wang Shóu felt stupid.

Of course, this Man-Faced Demon Spider had parents! It couldn't just be birthed from a stone, like Sun Wukong, the Monkey King!

But now he had to face another problem that he subconsciously ignored.

"Pika, Pika." (Where are your parents right now?)

Wang Shóu asked curiously, and also secretly vigilant at the same time.

Judging that the Man-Faced Demon Spider in front of him is around 6,000 years old, Wang Shóu guesses that the Man-Faced Demon Spider's parents should be around 10,000 years old.

While his system's radar has told him that there are no powerful spirit beasts nearby, he didn't want to provoke a 10,000-year-old spirit beast for no reason.

But unexpectedly, the Man-Faced Demon Spider looked down at the ground, quietly sobbing.

"Screech, screech." (Th-they had left the cave 5,000 years ago to scavenge for food and hadn't returned ever since...)

"..."

Now Wang Shóu just felt bad. Right now, he feels like he is the villain while the Man-Faced Demon Spider is the victim in this situation.

'Well, it seems that this Man-Faced Demon Spider is harmless though it seems quite naive though.'

Sighing quietly, Wang Shóu made up his mind.

"Pika, Pika." (Fine, I won't kill you. I just merely want to get the heaven and earth treasures.)

The Man-Faced Demon Spider elatedly jumped up from joy, and excitedly expressed its thanks.

"Screech, screech!" (Really?! Thank you so much! I will immediately show you the way towards the heaven and earth treasures!)

Then the Man-Faced Demon Spider quickly scurried to the entrance to one of the pathways, indicating Wang Shóu to follow him.

Seeing that, Wang Shóu quickly followed the Man-Faced Demon Spider.

Leading the way, the Man-Faced Demon Spider quickly navigated through the cave, heading toward the destination where the heaven and earth treasures reside.

As Wang Shóu and the Man-Faced Demon Spider walked in the cave, Wang Shóu asked a question.

"Pika, pika." (So...I'm just wondering, but why are you guarding the heaven and earth treasures instead of consuming them?)

"Screech, screech." (Well, when I was younger, I had once consumed a small heaven and earth treasure, but there was so much energy inside of it that I nearly died from exploding. So since then, I didn't consume heaven and earth treasures again for fear I might die.)

The Man-Faced Demon Spider answered, outwardly showing an expression of fear, remembering the time it had almost died.

"Pika, pika." (Oh I see, that makes sense.)

Wang Shóu merely nodded, understanding the Man-Faced Demon Spider's feeling.

As they say, once bitten by a snake, afraid of a rope for ten years.

Fortunately, he has a system, which can help him easily harness all the massive energy contained in the heaven and earth treasures.

Otherwise, he would have already been dead from recklessly consuming those heaven and earth treasures.

'Though, I'm quite curious...can Pokémon's physique be able to harness those heaven and earth treasures easily? Pokémon are amazingly resistant to almost anything besides their type weakness...'

Thinking deeply, Wang Shóu was snapped out of his thought by the Man-Faced Demon Spider's call who is in front of a large hole.

"Screech, screech!" (We're here! This is where all the heaven and earth treasures reside!)

After saying that, the Man-Faced Demon Spider entered the large hole.

Wang Shóu quickly followed the Man-Faced Demon Spider and also entered the entrance of the large hole.

Stepping inside the room, Wang Shóu's eyes were dazzled by the scene in front of him.
