Chapter 3: A Grave Tragedy (Final)

A week has passed since then. The tribe was in full preparation as the time for relocating was coming closer. Early morning, 3 AM.

Nian Zhen was currently in his room preparing everything that was needed by him.

[The host, it is time for the weekly update. Estimated time:3 hours. Shall I proceed with the update?]

"Hmm? Three hours huh? Why not we are planning to move after 7 AM anyway. You have my permission"

[Acknowledged]

As soon as Nian Zhen heard this voice, suddenly he felt a bad premonition. After shaking his head to get rid of such thoughts, Nian Zhen proceeded to pack his stuff.

7 miles further from Nian Zhen's Tribe.

A Cave had mysteriously appeared overnight. Low noise of rumbling could be heard from inside the cave.

*rumble**Boom*

Huge banging noise was heard as the cave started to collapse. A huge titan emerged from the cave. As soon as it awoke it felt a strange energy 7 miles away.

*ROAR!!!*

A deafening roar came out of its mouth as its greedy eyes looked towards the source of the energy. With loud steps, the Titan proceeded towards its target.

*Boom**Boom*Boom*

Large earth shattering steps were heard by the tribesmen as they were preparing for relocation. Nian Yun looked towards the place where the noise was coming from.

A huge titan shaped beast came into his view with dozens of other weak and strong beats running towards their tribe.

"Are you kidding me? The slumbering titan woke up? Did it feel Nian Zhen's aura? Was my decision a little too late..?" Nian Yun said, his voice trembling as he looked towards his house only to see Nian Zhen look out towards him.

"Hooh...calm down Nian Yun!"

"XIAO MU! GATHER EVERY HUNTER AROUND! IT SEEMS A BATTLE IS INEVITABLE" Nian Yun shouted at the top of his voice.

"YES CHIEF" Replied Xiao Mu as he went around to gather the tribesmen.

In just a few seconds almost all the Hunters with their family including Ying Yue and Nian Zhen had arrived at the village center.

"Everyone, it seems a few casualties in this battle is inevitable. Are you all prepared when the time comes?"

"Yes, Chief" Hearing these words, Nian Yun nodded his head before glancing towards his wife. Ying Yue too nodded towards him.

"Then divide into two groups, the first would be the vanguard responsible for holding off the beasts. The second would be mainly of women, children and some men. Any volunteers for the vanguard team?"

Surprisingly all the tribesmen, including some children raised their hands. Seeing this scene, Nian Zhen felt warm in his heart and he too ended up raising his hand.

"I know all of you want to help the tribe in its dire moments but I also don't want all of you to give up your life for vain."

After that Nian Yun divided the group from a group of 87 people.

Group 1 consisted of him as the captain and Xiao Mu as vice captain including other 25 members above rank 35.

Group 2 consisted of Ying Yue as captain and Aunt Tao, the 70 year old priest of the tribe as vice captain.

Ying Yue wanted to argue but seeing the stern glance from her husband she just bit her lip with tears on her eyes. She obviously knew what her husband was trying to say. She had to look after their son Nian Zhen.

"This may have been the first time I saw my mother defeated by father...huh Enron?Enron? Wait...no no no you have got to be shitting me"

"Yue'er...Go."

"Yun Ge..bu-"

"I said GO!" Nian Yun roared. Ying Yue carrying tears in her eyes took Nian Zhen, clearly in the state of panic seeing that Enron was updating, by his hands and joined the group meant to survive.

Looking at his wife and son going towards the other group, Nian Yun calmed down his emotions and said to Xiao Mu," Lets Go."

Nodding his head Xiao Mu started devising a plan.

The sound of steps had already gotten extremely close by the time the two groups had split up. Nian Yun was sitting on a huge boulder surrounded by his partners. His face lacked one thing, emotion.

"The Ice Devil Titan has arrived! There are a bunch of other 1000 y/o and 10000 y/o beasts running towards here too!!" A scout arrived on the scene with what was not even barely a good news.

"Has it arrived? Prepare to intercept!!" Xiao Mu roared on top of his voice. All the hunters readied themselves in order to intercept the enemies. In the flash of a second, several spirit rings appeared from each of the hunters body. None of them had spirit rings below the purple color.

If Nian Zhen was here then he would probably scold someone's mother because this was a spectacle thought to be impossible.

Speaking of Nian Zhen, he was currently on the run on top of a tamed ice wolf spirit beast with his mother and other tribesmen. The emotion he was feeling at the moment was indescribable. His father stayed behind in order to buy some time for their escape.

He glanced at his mother thinking how much she must be suffering from all this. Even though all of them agreed, even the children had noticed that if they go on like this then there is no future for them.

"Enron"

"I feel like a shithead..."

Ying Yue was thinking multiple things on her mind at the moment when all of a sudden a determined look flashed on her eyes.

"Xiao Mu bring some people with you. Lets deal with the Ice Devil Titan" Nian Yun drenched in sweat and the mixture of his own blood and the beast's blood told Xiao Mu. Nian Yun had a total of four spirit rings; purple, purple, black and black. His martial soul was a huge Golden Thunder Dragon that was in control of many types of lightning.

Arms now replaced by a dragon claw, Nian Yun looked towards the Ice Devil Titan.

"This shit of a curse." Nian Yun said as he looked towards the corpses of his fellow tribesmen mixed with the beast's corpses.

Nian Yun charged towards the Titan with the remaining hunters.

At that time all hell broke loose. The remaining beats had already run towards the location of Nina Zhen's group. Nina Yun clicked his tongue seeing that and decided to go after them rather than dealing with the titan at the moment.

At the same time, Nian Zhen's group was also in a dilemma as a group of frenzied beasts appeared out of nowhere.

Ying Yue was at the back dealing with the beasts with her full might. Like Nian Yun she had 4 spirit rings; purple, purple, dark purple and black. Her martial soul, resembling Nian Yun's was that of a Crimson Fire Dragon able to wield different types of fire.

Seeing this for the first time, Nian Zhen choked thinking what would be the reaction of original characters if they ever see this spectacle.

During that moment, a huge grey wolf suddenly leaped over towards Nian Zhen. Seeing this, Ying Yue in the blink of an eye appeared in front of Nian Zhen to protect him.

"Zhen Er! Are you okay?" Asked Ying Yue full of worry to her son.

"I am fine, mother. But you are hurt!"Nian Zhen noticed the wound on his mothers shoulder.

"Don't worry about it, this is just a small wound but...Listen Zhen Er. We don't know if we can get out of this mess. But I want some of us to survive and it includes you too. Take this with you. This ring holds the tribes secret and all the knowledge we have gathered during this period." Saying so, Ying Yue handed over a black ring with a dragon pattern to Nian Zhen

"Mom, what do you mean?'

"I am sorry son but as a wife it is my duty to tend to my husband."

"Wait Mom!! Then as a mother it is your duty to tend to your child! Mom!"

"I am sorry child but…"

"Yue Er are you okay?"

"Dad!" Nian Zhen shouted with tears in his eyes. He had already thought that he may not be able to see his father at all. But there Nian Yun stood. Even all the wounds and blood did not cover up his dignity as a hunter.

"Yun Ge you…"

"Now isn't the right time to talk. Most of us have already fallen. I don't want to see anymore casualties. Just run away from here."

"No! I am not gonna leave you Yun Ge! If I die then I will die with you!!"

"Yue Er!! What about our child then, do you want him to be an orphan? Either one of us has to take care of him."

"Then why can't I be the one who sacrifices instead. Why does it always have to be you? Ever since we met you have always sacrificed for me…"

"Yue Er...even if you say so this is still my duty as a tribe chief"

"But…"

"Dad! Mom! I want all of us to be alive please!" Nian Zhen's voice interrupted the pairs conversation.(AN: Thx man that atmosphere was making me jealous)

"Chief! Mistress! The Titan is here!" Xiao Mu shouted. As he had said the Titan had already appeared before them.

The titan swung its huge arm towards the hunters. A group of hunters were directly squashed under the titans arm. Looking at all the squashed bodies, Nian Zhen ended up vomiting. What else could he do? He had never seen such gruesome things happening in front of him. Even the videos from the dark web did not upset his stomach so much.

"Xiao Mu, take Nian Zhen away from here. Fast!" Nian Yun pleaded with his trusted partner.

"But chief...I understand" Xiao Mu could not ignore his chief's eyes that were full of pleading. Xiao Mu appeared behind Nian Zhen and took him in his arms.

"Zhen Er, always remember what we have taught you and know that your parents always love you." Ying Yue said, eyes full of uncontrollable tears, this may be the final time she is talking with her son.

"Now go son. Live! Be strong enough to protect those who you feel need to be protected. Don't think about revenge. Live your life how you want." Nian Yun added before he slightly bowed towards Xiao Mu.

"Please!"

"....Goodbye Brother…" Xiao Mu wiped off the tears on his face making a resolute face as he ran away with Nian Zhen in his arms.

"Mom!!Dad!!"

"That brat finally called me dad," Nian Yun said to his wife.

"Are you still in the mood to joke?" Ying Yue said as she gave a white glance to her husband.

"Hmm...let's go. We need to distract it in order to buy Xiao Mu some time."

Ying Yue nodded. Both of them were now making a dignified and fired up face. They started landing a barrage of attacks on the titan.

The titan was getting angry seeing that its prey was getting away again. Even more so after getting hit by many attacks. Blinded by rage, the titan decided to use its full strength to completely destroy anything within a 10 kilometer radius.

"No! It's trying to blast everything! Everyone runs faster!" said one of the only remaining hunters.

"It's too late! Yue Er!!!"

"Yun Ge!!!" a huge flash of light appeared from all of the remaining hunters as a huge destructive light started to engulf everything around them.

Xiao Mu, seeing this anomaly, knew that in his current condition it was absolutely impossible to safely take Nian Zhen away. Nian Zhen in his arms had already lost the light in his eyes. The only parents and people who cared for him were all dying one by one. Just a few hours back all of them were enjoying a happy meal, each anticipating their new home. Now, all of those dreams and plans are gone. Everything was lost because of a god damn beast.

"Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!" Blinded by all the negative emotions Nian Zhen roared on top of his voice as a bright light from Xiao Mu's Body as he transformed into a huge dragon and the destructive light from the titan engulfed the pair.

Large mechanical voice belonging to Enron was heard, yet Nian Zhen was seriously injured and could not even hear a sound.

No one knew how much time had passed. Spending almost all of its energy, the Titan retreated in order to replenish its energy and heal its severe wounds.

Not even a single hunter was alive at the moment. The whole tribe was destroyed by noon.

*swish**rumble*

Somewhere a low shaking was heard. The snow around the source of noise started to move as a figure emerged from the snow. The boy didn't have his left leg and his eyes were practically destroyed from the light. The wounds were already healed yet some internal wounds and the boy's leg and eyes could not heal.

"Mom...Dad...everyone…" a low sound of crying resounded through the quartet covered in blood, debris and the corpse of the victims.
