33 Chapter 33: Flaming Sword

Xiu Family Workshop

"Hey, old man! Is my sword ready yet?" Feng Qin exclaimed as he entered the workshop, walking past several other customers who were looking around the shop, followed by a curious Long Yuyin from behind who looked around in awe and wonder.

"Woah. These, these should be just weapons crafted by human hands right?" Long Yuyin gasped, looking at the large array of weapons and tools scattered around the workshop.

Some were put up for display but most were just lying around on the corner or stuffed in wooden barrels.

But she could feel the awesome power the weapons were emitting that she couldn't believe were just scattered around like some toys. The air they were releasing were varied but they all shared one common thing: raw power.

Instead of an armory, it was like she was standing in front of a group of Tool Spirit Masters with at least a cultivation of 7 rings!

'Just like mom said, the world is vast and full of surprises. And this workshop, especially its owner, is definitely one of them,' Long Yuyin thought to herself, sweat rolling down her temple, as she followed Feng Qin to the counter.

She heard the stories of Divine Craftsman having the crafting capability to equal Gods, thus their Divine title, but she thought it was just mere exaggeration but she was proven wrong.

She's a young lady of one of the most powerful families in an empire and a young genius, but it seems that she was still a frog in the bottom of a well.

Xiu Ye was behind the counter, looking down on his desk with a critical eye at a small piece of dark-blue metal. He looked up from his work and greeted Feng Qin with a earnest look. "Took you long enough, boy. Your sword is in the final stages and will be ready in a moment. Just needed some finishing touches that I need you to be part of, since this will be your sword."

He paused, pointing at Feng Qin, "And for the record, I'm still in my thirties."

Feng Qin nodded, his excitement barely contained as he followed behind the man into the back. He couldn't wait to test out his new weapon.

'...Hold up, he's in his what?!'

Meanwhile, Long Yuyin, following Feng Qin like she was his shadow, also froze in disbelief as the weapons on display and laying around weren't something someone the man's age could make!

But she didn't speak about it, as it wasn't her business and that in doing so might also jeopardize her master's relationship with the genius blacksmith.

Even still, she couldn't help but ask the man about the weapons displayed in the workshop. "Sir, may I ask about these weapons? They look very powerful."

Feng Qin chuckled at her question, making Long Yuyin shoot him a questioning look.

Xiu Ye loudly scoffed, waving at Long Yuyin. "Bah! Those are just failures and experiments that couldn't match up to the ultimate blade I seek."

Long Yuyin froze, her eyes wide in disbelief.

'Failures? Those!? The weapons that had equalled the same feeling I'd get from elders of my family who have more than 7 rings?!' She stared incredulously at the white haired man, thinking that he was messing with her.

Feng Qin snorted, as Long Yuyin glared at him, he quickly said. "No, I don't mean to ridicule you. It's just that I also had the exact same reaction as you when I first heard about his weapons," he turned to grin at the old man. "It's a real eye opener on how far someone could achieve with just their hands and determination."

'And that still hasn't covers how strong he is as well. From what he said, he's in his thirties? I'd call bullshit if it weren't for how, despite having long white hair, his eyes shows Though, I'm not sure that he revealed his true strength to me.' He thought.

Long Yuyin absentmindedly shook her head, impressed, respectful and terrified at the same time of the old man. 'So it's true that a genius is a genius when they go against the common sense and create miracles.' She then continued browsing through the workshop, admiring the different weapons and tools.

This wasn't the first time Feng Qin was here but he didn't have the time to browse through the array of weapons sorted in the back of the shop.

Each and every single one of them were a masterpiece, both Feng Qin and Long Yuyin came to the same conclusion as they widely stared at the numerous weapons.

The two started sweating on their backs like crazy, in fear of someone getting these weapons and using them against them and their loved ones.

Long Yuyin was more fearful than Feng Qin, as she hadn't seen the eight spirit rings Xiu Ye had shown to the latter.

Both of them came to a stop, turning in the same direction, shocked at what they were seeing.

They were before a blacksmith forge, unlike the standard ones out front, it had a darker colored anvil that seemed to be made out of obsidian, a barrel of oil for quenching, a box of sand at the side, hammering tools and a wide, towering crimson furnace that seemed to resemble the gates of hell!

But the thing that caught their attention the most was the intense heat that was being emitted from the furnace, causing waves of pressure to hit them.

It was like they could feel the intense flames flickering against their skin, even from several feet away. Even though they had greater fire resistance than the average fire attribute spirit master!

'It's the same feeling...' A flashback of when Xiu Ye summoned a wooden cane in his hand resurfaced in Feng Qin's head. 'This heat...It's something beyond just normal flames!'

He grimaced, 'According to the Sword Immortal's memories, this fire is comparable to the Ninth Level of the Fire Concept: To Ashes! A power comparable to a highly ranked Immortal!'

He and Long Yuyin should never mess with this blacksmith! It was a death sentence!

"Feng Qin..."

Feng Qin turned to see Long Yuyin looking worried at him.

He smiled reassuringly at her. "Don't worry, Yuyin. As long as we don't provoke him, we'll be fine. Let's just admire the beauty of his creations and not agitate him."

Long Yuyin nodded, still eyeing the blacksmith forge warily.

Feng Qin took a deep breath, still feeling the intense heat emanating from the forge.

'If he's able to manipulate this kind of power with just his hands, then it's no wonder he's considered a Divine Craftsman,' he thought, feeling a sense of respect and awe towards Xiu Ye.

"Here's your sword boy." Xiu Ye said with a grim expression, his hand unexpectedly holding onto a red hot burning sword with his bare hands!

"Holy crap!"

"Woah! Wait, wait. Old man, are you...alright?"

The two yelled in shock, seeing how Xiu Ye was holding the sword without any visible injuries.

Xiu Ye just smirked, twirling the sword, which was over a meter long, around before throwing it in the air and catching it with his other hand.

"Of course I'm alright. Is that all you got?"

Feng Qin and Long Yuyin exchanged looks, realizing that they were dealing with a more unpredictable and dangerous man than they first thought.

Xiu Ye snorted, noticing their looks, "The reason for the intense fire and the sword not cooled down yet, is because of you boy."

"Me? What do you mean by that?"

"Didja forget? Although I promised that I'll just make you a decent sword with that money you brought me," he grunted at the embarrassed look on his face. "but the blacksmith pride in me refuses to make just a standard sword for someone like you."

Feng Qin blinked his eyes, "Someone...like me?"

Xiu Ye's golden eyes glazed over for a moment, "Let's just say, you remind me of...me when I was younger," he shook his head. "But anyways, the final touch to complete this sword is a few drops of your blood essence into it, to recognize you as its true owner."

"Then I just have to quench it, cool down its heat, wrap the handle, and get a sheath for it," Xiu Ye looked down at the sword for a moment, shrugging. "And we'll be done."

Feng Qin nervously nodded, he stretched out his right hand, covering his left hand's nails in spirit power, he opened a cut on his right palm and bleed out several drops of blood essence onto the blade.

The red flaming blade quickly absorbed the drops of blood essence, so did the intense flames surrounding it.

He watched Xiu Ye hummed and turned towards his forge, to work on the final touches of his sword, all the while feeling a sense of awe and admiration towards the man.

After a few more minutes, Xiu Ye handed the sword to Feng Qin.

"There you go, boy. A sword worthy of a spirit master like you," he said with a smile.

Feng Qin looked at the sword, feeling the weight of it in his hand. He could feel the power emanating from the blade, and he knew that this was no ordinary sword.

It was a beautiful sword, with a sharp and deadly long blade, looking in almost complete obsidian color with red lines running down its edge, that shimmered in the light of the burning flames covering it.

It had a strange guard, resembling a swastika symbol, with the handle covered with dark bindings, with intricate red engravings and details in the middle that looked like they were alive, with a seven inch long black chain connected by its pommel.

Only just seeing it and Feng Qin couldn't wait to test it out in battle.

He lightly swung it to the side, feeling the wind whistle as the blade sliced through the air, leaving behind a trail of flames.

"Thank you, Xiu Ye," he said with gratitude. "I'm actually ashamed of just buying this with 3,000 spirit gold coins..."

Xiu Ye merely waved him off, "Meh. Money's never an issue with me. Have you seen what I make? I'm practically the richest man on the entire continent!" he rubbed his chin, "Though that doesn't mean it's just free."

Feng Qin nodded in understanding.

Xiu Ye just nodded, "Take care of it, boy. Unlike other spirit masters, you use a weapon not borne out of your soul. So others might look down upon you for it."

Feng Qin grinned, raising his new sword up, "Then I'll just have to prove them wrong."

Xiu Ye chuckled, "That's the spirit. Now, pay for it, buy a sheath for it, and get out of my shop. I have work to do."

"...And how much is for the sheath?"

"100 spirit gold coins. No discounts."

"You gotta be..."

Feng Qin resignedly paid for the sword and its sheath, eager to leave the workshop before he loses anymore money.

As they walked out, Long Yuyin turned to Feng Qin with a doubtful expression.

"Are you sure it's a good idea to have that sword? I mean, what if it's cursed or something?"

Feng Qin chuckled, patting her head.

"Don't worry, Yuyin. If there's one thing I trust in this world, it's a person's pride in their own work. This sword will be an extension of my own strength."

Long Yuyin hummed and asked, "So, what are you going to name it?"

Feng Qin looked thoughtful for a moment and decided to go with a simple yet powerful sounding name. "Heavenly Yang Sword."

And with that, they left the Xiu Family Workshop, both feeling a sense of awe and respect towards the Divine Craftsman Xiu Ye.
