15 Chapter 15: Shrek Academy

It been 4 months since Rai went to the Great Spirit Arena. While there he use his Illusion to make people think he's a different person once in a while. Whenever he was going to reach silver rank he re-register under a new alias with different age and spirit rank. After all he will have to come back here with Shrek later on. If he already reach gold rank before then, than there is no point in coming back.

Since all his match was within the lower ranks, no one above the rank of spirit king really come to watch them, even spirit kings don't come often so no one manage to see through his illusion. Even if Rai still don't know what rank spirit master need to be to see through his illusion. Rai rather be on the safe side for now. Rai decide to test it out on Flander when he get to the academy and see if he can also trick spirit sage(saint).

Through all the fight, Rai manage to earn more then enough to pay to enter Shrek. In fact he can pay for Seika too and still have more then enough to spend for a while. While here he also remembered, after three months of fighting, to send a letter to Grandpa Homura telling him about the spirit bones. He receive the bone from a courier today.

Rai take out arm bone from his pack of clothes and thought 'obverse'.

[A spirit bone that was picked up by a villager who thinks it's an interesting looking stick.]

'Huh? Do I have to know the age of the spirit beast and what it is for it to show?' Rai wonder. 'I guess I'll just have to find out when an auction happen. I'll check the bone they are selling before and after they talk about it to make sure.'

Rai pick up the spirit bone, put it toward his right arm and start to absorb it. Although it hurt, it was not at the level of when he absorb the spirit head spirit bone. Rai sigh in relief that he doesn't have to go through that pain every time he want to absorb a spirit bone.

Rai took out an Essence Storage Tool that he "barrow" from a contestant after beating him up. He put everything he own into the storage and head out toward Shrek Academy.

As Rai reach the entrance of Shrek Academy, he saw that no one waiting in line and thought 'I must be too early or the high prices and requirement turn everyone else away.'

As Rai got to the desk, the first examiner Li Yusong said "10 gold as the entrance fee, you must be over rank 20 and no older then 12 years old."

Rai not bothering to say anything else just hand Li a bag of coin. Li look through the bag and nodded, put his hand forward and said "Your hand." in which Rai handed his left hand for Li to check, since his right hand have a spirit bone.

After looking Li said "11 years old, aren't you a little young, whatever sh..." but before he can finish he looked up and saw 3 ring which almost cause his jaw to drop in surprise. "Right" Li continue after collecting himself "Since you are here early and there isn't anyone else here yet, follow me to the the fourth test. You are above rank 25 so you can just skip the next two test." Li said as he stood up to lead Rai away.

Rai, not wanting to be left behind quickly went after him. Li took Rai to an open field next to the school buildings. "Wait there while I go get Mubai." Li said and left to go into one of the building.

After waiting for a few minute, Li came back out with young man about 14 year of age in a white long sleeve cloak with a school symbol on it.

"This is Dai Mubai, 14 years old and also a spirit elder. He will be testing your combat ability. For you to pass, you have to beat him, draw, or last until the timer run out." Li said.

"Alright" Rai simply answer then turn to Dai Mubai.

Dai Mubai, seeing Rai turn to him snorted and said "Lets get this over with already." which made Rai frown a bit. Even if Rai know that Mubai is a person that only respect the strong and his friend, [A/N: *cough*and pretty ladies*cough] he still didn't like it when someone speak to him like that. So Rai decide he will try his best to beat Mubai up, after he got accepted.

Rai wasn't 100% confidence in beating Mubai since Mubai is older and he is sure Mubai have more combat experience fighting people on a similar level of power. Rai also have experience fighting people, but most of those people are thugs and bandit weaker then him. The Great Spirit Arena din't do much either since Rai decided to stay at the lower rank.

Seeing that Rai isn't going to answer, Li said "Start" before remembering that Rai have 3 rings and warn Mubai "Oh right, Mubai you should be careful, he is also a spirit elder." then Li walk back toward the first exam desk.

"WHAT!" MuBai said suprised, but he didn't get to say anything further cause he saw Rai rushing at him with a blade and spirit summoned. Reacting quickly, MuBai also summon his spirit and jump back before Rai's blade can reach him.

After MuBai landed he look at Rai. "It doesn't matter if you are a spirit elder or not, you still have to get pass me to get into Shrek Academy." Mubai said as he ready himself for battle.

"Xiong ShunRai, Spirit elder rank 36, Lighting Wolf Battle Armor." Rai said which surprise Mubai as Rai is rank is higher than him, but he still reply

"Dai MuBai, Spirit elder rank 34, White Tiger" Mubai reply while thinking 'Sh*t I have to work harder in the future and go out less. Can't be looking weak in front of a junior.'

Rai see that Mubai is ready, activate Speed Boost and Lighting Blade which increase his speed and power surprising Mubai again, but this time Mubai is ready so he use his claw to intercept Rai's blade. Although Mubai isn't as fast as Rai, he can still react to Rai's speed and with his battle experience, he is able to keep up with Rai without too much effort.

After going back and forth for a while Rai see that he isn't going to do much damage if he keep this up so Rai use Mind Game to make it seem like he jump back, but instead RaI leap forward to try and knock Mubai out.

Mubai was confused for a split sec before opening his eyes wide. Suddenly a huge force of power forces everything around Mubai away including Rai.

'Shit, forgot that you have a chance to unlock Real Guard with your third ring.' Rai thought as he pick himself up.

"Impressive" Mubai said. "Didn't think you would be able to make me use my real guard this quick, but this time I am coming at you seriously so be ready." while saying that MuBai is thinking 'That was too close, I almost lost there. Don't know what happen but I'm glad I follow the feeling I have and active my real guard.'

Rai hearing Mubai just nodded and rush toward Mubai again. This time when then clash Rai notice that he was on the losing end. Just as Rai was going to use his Strength Boost he remember 'Right. I already use three ring ability. I would be weird if I use anymore. I was going to use this as a last resort but I guess I have to use this now.' Rai then jump back creating some distance between them again.

After readying his blade, Rai said "Lightning Step" and quickly dash toward Mubai surprising Mubai again, but before Rai can do anything, the timer ring which made him stop right in front of Mubai.

Rai turn toward the timer and saw that the time is already up so he said "Looks like the time is up, so does that mean I pass.?"

After hearing Rai, MuBai broke out of his surprise "Right, of course you pass. With someone of your ability around I would finally have someone to fight. The person who joined last year was a support system so I didn't get much of a fight." MuBai said with a competitive smile but that the same time thought 'This junior is keep giving me too many surprises. I need to step up my game.'
