10 Chapter 10: First Spirit Ring
Rai made his way toward the Wind Spirit Wolf slowly. He ready the blade that he got from Grandpa Homura. The blade is a single edge blade that is as short as a tanto so he can comfortable wield it.
Due to his hellish training from Grandpa Homura, he was able to sneak toward the wolf until he was only a couple of meter away. At this distance this he figure that even though he won't be able to jump it but he should be able to rush it and injure it before it can react.
'Alright I should aim to slow it down since I won't be able to kill it in one shot from this distance.' Rai thought as he got ready. He position his blade so that he can cut at least one of the leg when he rush. Then he got ready to activated his Battle Suit.
As Rai is ready, he continue to sneak toward the wolf once more ready to rush toward it if it ever notice him. As he took a couple step, he saw the wolf's ear twitch. Taking that as a sign, he activate his Battle Suit and sprint at full speed toward the wolf. When he did so, the wolf went on full alert and jump away but not before Rai manage to injure one of it's legs in the process.
'One legs, not bad but I was aiming for two. With this the Wind Spirit Wolf won't be able to use its speed to suppress me anymore' Rai thought as he try to measure the strength of the wolf. As Rai was looking at the wolf, the wolf start growling in anger at Rai.
The Wind Spirit Wolf lunges toward at a speed that Rai almost can't react to. Rai, not wanting to become a wolf chew toy move to the side and at the same time raise his blade to the wolf eyes level. The blade manage to cut its right eye causing it to got blind.
"HA, is that all you got" Rai taunt the wolf after he get a stable footing. In return the wolf see to get even more angry. This time the wolf recklessly rush toward Rai. Seeing this Rai jump toward the right side of the wolf getting in its new blind spot and stab his blade into the wolf chest where the heart should be.
As his blade fully sink into the wolf body, Rai relax thinking it was over but the wolf suddenly turn and swipe its claw at Rai. Due to him letting his guard down, the wolf succeeded in landing a hit on him that send him flying into a tree.
'Ouch, Should have confirm its dead before I relax.' Rai thought as he fought through the pain of being slam into a tree. Thanks to the Battle Suit he only suffer some minor injuries. Otherwise without it he would have suffer from some broken bones.
He look toward the angry wolf that seem like it's ready to pounce on him again. This time Rai is ready again. As the wolf take two steps, it feel down and start glowing as a yellow ring comes out of its body. This stun Rai as he stare unblinkingly at the wolf.
"What are you waiting for Rai, go absorb the ring." Grandpa Homura said form the side surprising Rai and breaking him out of his stupor.
"Right" Rai answer as he made his way toward the wolf. He stretch his left hand toward the ring and close his eyes in order to focus and absorb the ring. Since it's only a 400 years old Wind Spirit Wolf, Rai was able to easily absorb the ring and make it into a skill of his own.
"Done" Rai said as he open his eye, but when he was about to stand up, He suddenly start screaming and clutching his head in pain as he feel a massive amount of information is being stuff into his head. It doesn't feel as bad as the first time but due to the exhausting fight against the wolf. Rai didn't have any energy to hold on and passed out.
"Rai!" Grandpa said worriedly and rushing over to him. As Grandpa Homura reach Rai he found that Rai is already unconscious and doesn't seem to be in pain anymore. A Grandpa Homura give Rai a body check, he only found some bruises from the fight. He sigh in relief even though he is still a bit worry about Rai passing out like that. Seeing that Rai isn't going to wake up anytime soon, Grandpa Homura pick him up and carry him home.

As it turns to night, Rai woke up with a pained groan. 'What happen?' Rai wonder as he touch his head. "My head feel like there is a hangover having a hangover" Rai complain.
"Rai!" Rai hear a loud voice from the side which just made the headache worst. He then turn toward the origin of the voice and Seika jumping toward him. Not being prepare, Rai hastily try to catch her causing them both to fall back on the bed.
"Seika, stop that. I have a massive headache right now." Rai complain while trying to get over his headache.
"Sorry, I was scare you might not wake up again" Seika says as tear welled up in her eyes.
Seeing this Rai pat her head "Don't worry I won't leave you alone. You won't be able to get rid of me that easily" Rai said in an effort to cheer her up.
"Promise" Seika said while looking up at Rai.
"Promise" Rai says which made Seika smile widely.
She pouted, playfully hit him on the shoulder pouted and said "Liar, I would be going to the academy and you won't be coming."
"Alright then I'll write to you every time I can when we are apart." Rai said trying to pacify her making her smile widely once more.
"Deal" Seika said happily.
"Now you two love bird are done, can I have a talk with Rai alone." Grandpa Homura suddenly said from the door causing both their faces to turn red.
"Grandpa!" Seika yell at him embarrassingly then ran out the door.
"hahaha." Grandpa Homura laugh. Then he turn to Rai and ask "Can you tell me what happened Rai?"
After thinking for a while Rai decided to tell the truth, but not the complete truth. Rai said "After I absorb the spirit ring, I feel like a massive amount of information of information got shove into my head. I couldn't take it and passed out"
"Information? what info?" Grandpa Homura
"I don't know much, but I think I know how to use the spirit skill now and how to cultivate my spirit ranks" Rai told him.
"Is there any side effect I should be worry about?" Grandpa Homura ask him worriedly.
"No, aside from the headache right now, I don't think anything bad will happen" Rai reply truthfully making Grandpa Homura sigh in relief.
"Then you should eat something and get some rest. We will continue your training tomorrow." Grandpa Homura
"Yes" Rai agree since he is still tried and hungry form the fight. He went to get some food but before he go to sleep, he decide to see good the manual is. He then organize the information he got and come to the conclusion
