8 Chapter 8: Dormitory

Early Morning Xiao Ran woke quite early as he had once again started going to School.

"Haiz I never thought that I would once again wake up early just for the sake of going to school."

Xiao Ran was quite depressed while thinking about his past school life but quickly got over with it and began to refreshen up for the day.

A Sister suddenly informed Xiao Ran to go to the office while he was having breakfast which led Xiao Ran bewildered by the sudden call and quickly finish up his food.

A quite old looking nun was sitting in front of her desk looking at the papers she just received and feeling quite lost when suddenly a knock could be heard in front of the door.

"Come in."

Xiao Ran entered the room while noticing that the old Nun was looking at him a little bit different from usual.

"Grandma, Why did you call me today?"

Xiao Ran inquired after taking a seat in front of the old Nun while old nun look at him before smiling helplessly.

"Child, it has been 6 years since someone brought you here in this orphanage. I never thought that time would past by so fast and looking at you I never expected that you would grow up being a sweet and sensible child."

The old Nun spoke while reminiscing the past which got Xiao Ran in a bad feeling.

" Grandma why are you speaking like that."

Xiao Ran spoke but the old nun got quiet for a moment.

"Child you are officially a Soul Master as you already have a spirit ring and Official Soul Masters are able to receive a stipend of 1000 Federal Coins every month yet this isn't the point as I and everyone feels that it would be better for you to go in the School dormitory. We all felt that we are just limiting your potential by making you stay here and we know you never liked to be adopted as many we're willing take you in yet you refuse all of them and stayed here with us and always help us. "

Xiao Ran was quite lost by the sudden revelation and was about to rebuke.

"I know that you wouldn't like this arrangement and I wouldn't also recommend this as you are still so young but I know that you always have an extraordinary mind since you began reading books so we decided it's better for you to be in the Academy's Dormitory and it's not like you can't come and visit us. We will always welcome you warmly if you ever visit. "

Xiao Ran just lowered his head and was feeling quite emotional inside knowing that the old nun was right.

The old Nun noticed this and carrased the hair of Xiao Ran which didn't help as he felt the warm hand tears flow through his eyes and began reminiscing the 6 years he stayed in this orphanage.

After few minutes Xiao Ran began to calm down and bowed to the old Nun.

"Thank You grandma for raising me to this day and I would never forget you and everyone's kindness towards me. I ---"

Xiao Ran couldn't continue as he knew that no amount of words could ever repay the kindness he received from the old nun.

The old Nun smiled gently while keeps on comforting Xiao Ran.

"Now now child, though it is late Congratulations on becoming a Soul Master. Now quickly let's go outside as they should be waiting for you."

The old Nun hold on to Xiao Ran and led him outside which surprised him as everyone was there and quickly they congratulate him for becoming a Soul Master.

An hour later Xiao Ran was ready to go as he only packed up few clothes and left everything behind.

The old nun gave him an exquisite letter then told Xiao Ran to give it to his teacher.

Xiao Ran arrived at the Academy quite late and was thankful that today they will learn cultural. Soul Masters didn't learn about Soul Master topics everyday. Instead, they alternated between Soul Master topics and cultural classes.

Tang Wulin was quite surprised that Xiao Ran was so late.

"Xiao Ran why are you late today?"

Tang Wulin inquired as they headed to the Canteen as it is already lunch time.

"Hmm its nothing. Something just came up that let me delay in coming to school."

Xiao Ran replied and began to change the topic so he inquire on what he missed in which made Tang Wulin happily told him what he have learn.

Time soon passed and class had already been over. Xiao Ran and Tang Wulin was leaving the school ground when they noticed Lang Yue with Na'er besides her.

"Hello Big Brother Ran."

Na'er greeted Xiao Ran first ignoring Tang Wulin which led Tang Wulin quite depressed as He thought that Na'er would greet him first as his elder brother.

"Hi Na'er. you look quite cute today."

Xiao Ran spoke ignoring Tang Wulin's gaze which got Lang Yue smile for a little bit and greeted both of them.

"Why have you come to pick me up, mom?" Tang Wulin asked after a while yet a thread of regret was present within Lang Yue's eyes. With quick steps, she walked over and picked up her son.

"Hurry up and let me down mom. I'm already a big kid. You're embarrassing me in front of my classmates!"

Xiao Ran and Lang Yue laughed quickly after hearing Tang Wulin. "No matter how big you are, you will always be my son. I'm here to bring you to Uncle Mang Tian. Do you really want to learn blacksmithing?"

Tang Wulin nodded. "That's right! Dad said that men can only rely on themselves. I want to earn the money for a Spirit Soul on my own."

Lang Yue put down her son and crouched down in front of him. "Son, if you're unable to persevere through ten million difficulties, then mom will find some work to help you buy a spirit soul."

"No, I want to earn the money myself." Tang Wulin resolutely said.

Lang Yue fought against her own tears, instead, she repeatedly kissed her sons face. "Good. Come Na'er let's get going. "

"Hey Xiao Ran come join me and let's go learn blacksmith together. "

Tang Wulin happily suggested yet before Xiao Ran speaks a teacher suddenly came over and called out Xiao Ran.

"Maybe next time Tang Wulin I still have something to do. "

Xiao Ran quickly apologize before saying goodbye and quickly followed the teacher.

Xiao Ran was led into the Principal office and handed out the letter which the old nun gave him before. After a few minutes of procedure in the principal office Lin Ximeng came over and led Xiao Ran into his room.

Xiao Ran was quite satisfied in his room after Lin Ximeng led him into an empty room. The room was quite small but it had a neat bed, a small closet and a table that is close in the window.

Xiao Ran gazed outside the window as the evening sun cast long shadows on the ground. The slanting rays of the setting sun gave a warm orange tinge to the sky. The sky was ablaze with the fire of the setting sun. The night sky was aglow with bright city lights.

"I guess this is where I'll stay for three years."
