134 Chapter 133: Oath under the night sky

"So..." Xiu Ye tilted his head towards Na'er with a slightly raised eyebrow. They were now heading back to the academy as it was close to curfew.

Well, he didn't have one due to being a librarian. Na'er however, did. And she wasn't happy with that, as showed with her pouty cheeks.

"What have you been up to lately? You know I've been coped up in the library for a while now, so I don't know if there's been anything new happening."

"Oh you know, nothing much. Just the same usual ritual of my life schedule. Wake up from an all-nighter meditation cultivation, eat, do my daily physical and spiritual trainings, read through several books containing about some stuff that I know are some pointless gibberish but hey, what do I know? I'm just a kid! Back to eating, do a another all-nighter meditation cultivation and repeat." She glanced at him dryly, a look of resentment in her eyes.

"Dear good big brother of mine. Remind me again, on why on Douluo am I and the others are training like those macho men do to get their very muscled bodies?"

"As I had said earlier in lunch, my dear little sister. There are a lot of secrets in the world, secrets that can threaten us and kill us all if we aren't prepared. With how advanced technology currently is, I'm afraid that even Titled Douluos aren't the strongest in this world but something beyond it." Xiu Ye tilted his head back to stare straight at the sky, a grim and serious expression on his face.

Na'er widened her eyes. "Something beyond a Titled Douluo.... Do you mean...? A god? But, that shouldn't be possible! Because–" She pauses and stared at Xiu Ye.

Immediately, he understood what she was silently saying and made a mental link with her so they could talk to each other telepathically.

"Because the Divine Realm is gone. A year ago, my master told us all the secret as to why there was no further news about someone ascending to godhood, despite how there were so many very qualified soul masters; especially my master."

"That man is the closest to what is essentially a God in this world than anyone else after all." Xiu Ye nodded in agreement. He had once asked the Sea God Pavilion Master for a spar, out of curiosity if he would be able to handle a Limit Douluo in a straight on fight.

He was immediately knocked out unconscious the second he tried to use Gáe Bolg on him; wanting to see if a Limit Douluo had the ability to dodge an attack that manipulates causality.

Ever since then, he never went to ask him to spar again. He didn't want to further reveal any more of his weapons to the strongest man of the world.

When asked on how he managed to get such a bloodthirsty and powerful spear. Xiu Ye responded by saying that he forged it, out of stroke of luck, and he wanted to gift it to Tang Wulin when he's strong enough and has a high degree of mastery over his killing domain.

Yun Ming was of course, doubtful at first but he shrugged it off and agreed with Xiu Ye's decision.

Until he gets all of the secrets Shrek has, he won't trust any members of the Sea God Pavilion yet.

Xiu Ye felt that with his battle with both Na Nali and the Outer God three years ago, Yun Ming would have easily killed the bitch and kicked the eldritch octopus out of the plane with just a single sweep of his Atlas Spear.

He also tried sparring with the other elders and teachers of Shrek Academy as well, most being at the Titled Douluo realm and all of them ended in his defeat. Which was also the case for those with Soul Douluo soul power as well.

Well it was to be expected really, as he held back most of his abilities and while they held some back.

In a straight fight against those with Soul Douluo cultivation and above, he'd lose. Their overall physical capabilities, combat experience, mastery of their martial soul; their soul skills and getting help with their spirit souls was something he couldn't easily bypass.

Unless of course, if he aimed to kill them and used something like Gáe Bolg or Balmung.

"Also, due to the deterioration of this world's life energy, which may destroy the world in a few thousands years or so, give or take. The planet can no longer support the existence of gods, or any other creatures that possess a power similar to god, living here or the entire planet would be destroyed as a result of their tremendous power." Na'er wryly smiled.

"So, I'm not sure why you're so being paranoid about us getting into a confrontation against beings beyond a Titled Douluo. I mean, sure there might be some ancient gods sleeping in the world but the possibility of them waking up and attacking us is low."

"Na'er, that's where you're wrong. I'm not talking about any native land gods and immortals that might be hiding somewhere in this god forsaken world." Xiu Ye internally scoffed. "I'm talking about the beings from beyond our world. Out in the great wide space of the universe. With mysterious and powerful powers, with the possibility of killing millions in a single moment."

"It might not happen now, but one day they'll come and we'll die from being caught unprepared." There was silence between them.

Xiu Ye sighed and felt bad for bringing this up now with Na'er. But he just couldn't help it.

'After all, three years ago, one of them almost made it into our world and bring the total end of the world. I know you don't like it Na'er, but I just want you and everyone else to be safe if I....I am not there with you guys.'

"But the probable extraterrestrial invasion won't be happening any time soon. So don't worry about it too much, Na'er." Xiu Ye patted her head in a comforting manner.

"...Hm." Na'er nodded lowly, hanging her head down.

Xiu Ye stare at her for a moment and wanted to warn her about how the most dangerous threat was humanity itself, with their advanced technology and science and greed, but decided against it.

After all, even if Na'er is the human part of the Silver Dragon King and has her memories of the time she fought against the gods and heard about the reason of the extinction of her race, she's still just a child. Who knows what reaction she'll have if he told her the lengths and horrors humans would do in the name of knowledge or plain madness?

"...I know you want to keep us safe." Na'er said with a low tone of voice. She turned towards him, tears in her eyes that made him freeze in place. "Really, I do. But big brother Ye, you can't do everything by yourself. One boy can't deal with everything and everyone, especially against something like a god."

"Promise me." She grabbed his hands and held it between her own two. Her expression serious and determined as she stare right at him. "Promise me, that you'll go to us for help when you're in need of it. I...I don't want you to shoulder everything by yourself. Rely on us. I don't want to wait somewhere, somewhere safe, waiting for you only for me to find you dead somewhere."

"Please. Big brother Ye. Don't go somewhere where I can't reach you..." Xiu Ye widened his eyes. The face of Na'er overlapped with someone else.

'Illya....'

He felt his throat go dry for a moment before gulping. He gritted his teeth and nodded.

"...Hm. I promise."

"Pinky promise?" Na'er held up her left pinky.

Xiu Ye smiled and curled his finger down except for his right pinky. "Pinky promise."
