Wind and Snow

His sight was blocked by the snow, his hearing blocked by the raging winds, his touch dampened by the snow falling upon him, leaving only his nose to fight with. His options were severely limited yet that only made Wulin more excited.

Suddenly the snow in front of him lessened, a bad feeling attacking his very soul. Leaning back, his back parallel to the floor, a blade of ice soaring over his head. From what he has learned about his brother in law, it was the fourth ring of his ultimate ice martial soul.

Once the blade had passed him Wulin leaped to the right, narrowly dodging a beam of golden light that he had only heard moments before it collided with him. However before his feet even hit the ground, multiple beams of light struck his body and bruised his skin.

For the first time in his current life, he had been damaged. His sister's cultivation remained at the spirit sage level and his brother's law lacked behind as a spirit king but combined they rivaled a soul douluo with ease.

He would struggle even if he entered |Level 2| let alone if he stayed at |Level 1| but it was a learning experience rather than anything else. Sadly, Wulin wasn't allowed to lose so he'd have to make do with a mutual defeat. Gu Yuena should accept that.

'This domain is an issue. I'll have to disrupt it.' Wulin thought to himself, jumping around on the palm of Huo Yuhao's hand to dodge the attacks. From what he remembered, Huo Yuhao's domain decreased the consumption of soul power he used reducing his main weakness.

Not only that but Huo Yuhao had higher spiritual power than he did so he would have to be on guard from any spiritual attacks as well. He wasn't sure if spirit souls could be replicated as well so that was another thing to look out for.

While Huo Yuhao was the tactician, his sister was the one that could actually deal damage to him. Huo Yuhao technically could as well but his attacks were much easier to dodge than the beams of light that came at him from all directions.

However, to remove the danger of her attacks entirely, he'd have to defeat her which requires he disrupt the domain surrounding him. There were many ways to do that however none of them really applied to the situation.

The most commonly used method was to disrupt the caster's flow of energy with your own however Huo Yuhao had him beat in amount and control so that was impossible. Another popular method was to somehow stun the caster but that was easier said than done.

That's why Wulin would resort to the more barbaric method, the method he was quite frankly best suited to. Momentarily ignoring the beams of light striking his body Wulin punched the ground with extreme force, a large gust of wind slightly pushing back the snow fall.

Yet that wasn't the end. Spinning like a top Wulin redirected the power completely into his next strike, his power increasing by a small percentage. Repeating this over thirty times, Wulin was like the middle of a tempest, the earth shattered all around him.

The ice and snow had all been drawn into the tempest revealing the positions of his two opponents, their hands interlocked as their soul power flowed freely between their two bodies, strengthening it each time.

What he had just done was the Disorderly Wind Splitting Hammer, a technique of the Clear Sky Sect that had been published roughly three thousand years ago. It was a technique mostly used by people with hammer martial souls or blacksmiths so it was obvious that he knew it though the version he just used was his own creation.

Breaking free of the technique at the thirty first strike he dashed forward, his tempest containing enough momentum to continue without his intervention and even grow by devouring the winds of Huo Yuhao's domain.

Stepping in front of her husband, his sister prepared herself for combat, the Clear Sky Hammer swinging toward him with extreme power. It contained such power that not even he would be able to block it.

So he didn't.

'The Clear Sky Hammer is powerful but its weakness is obvious.' Wulin observed. Like all large scale martial souls, its size made its trajectory obvious and easy to avoid and its weight made it difficult to make micro adjustments.

Landing a solid punch on his sister's ribs, the low sound of cracking entered his ears despite the growing tempest. Yet, he wasn't finished there. All his attack was meant to accomplish was to stun his sister and allow himself free access to his true goal.

Stepping past his sister Wulin threw out another attack, Huo Yuhao meeting it head on with an icy blue palm. He would win in pure power however his limb would be frozen to the bone as a result.

In the end, he would defeat Huo Yuhao however his sister would be where he failed. He wouldn't be able to defeat her with one arm and he wouldn't be able to heal it in time to assist him. Besides, his energy reserves were too low to enhance his body further beyond its limits.

Time seemed to slow in his view as his fist slowly approached Huo Yuhao's palm however just before the two forces of nature made contact, his two opponents vanished without a trace beyond the ice covered surroundings.

{Challenge four complete! Would you like to continue?} The voice said excitedly, almost like a child in his apparent joy. Giving a quick search with his spiritual power now that it was unimpeded it was revealed that Xie Xie was already defeated and Gu Yuena was in the same situation as him.

"No." Wulin replied simply, the short period of 'eye contact' he had with Gu Yuena showing that any more was unnecessary. They were both exhausted, any more and they'd be forced to show more than they'd like. Besides, it was a good way to get back into the swing of things.

{Perfect! I'll see you soon then!} The excited voice said mysteriously, the space element once more gathering around him.
