Chapter 34

Chapter 34 — Extreme North, Icebound Forest (2)

There were only weak and young spirit beast on the outer area of the forest so Ning Chen decided to venture deeper and went toward the inner area.

Travelling stealthily, Ning Chen noticed the forest was mostly filled with ice, water and mental type spirit beasts.

There were still other types of spirit beasts, but they were all rare to find.

The weather was freezing; the cold wind biting and howling at him mercilessly.

The temperature was slowly sinking as he ventured deeper.

Ning Chen was now constantly circulating his spirit power to keep himself warm and well-conditioned.

He walked forward without stopping and his coat repeatedly buffeting due to the violent gale.

Ning Chen spent several days looking around the forest just to find the suitable spirit beast for him.

He would take a few rest each day since his spirit power was being continuously drained to maintain his body warmth.

He couldn't have problems suddenly popping in his body after all and decided to take things easy.

As he was walking, Ning Chen noticed a large and deep river in front of him.

He frowned seeing this river as despite the temperature being extremely low, the river wasn't frozen completely.

The river was frozen in some spots, but it was still mostly water

Ning Chen approached the river cautiously and then saw a large blue deer with beautiful antlers, drinking at the river.

He also realized the spirit concentration around the river's area was extremely high.

Ning Chen ignored this fact for now and stared at the large deer in front of him.

He vaguely felt a connection with it and he knew it was somehow suitable for him.

The large deer was the 'Ice Spirit Lord Deer' and it looked about 10,000 years old.

It's greatest strength was it's control and great offensive abilities, but it's defense was pitiful, making it easy to defeat.

Ning Chen decided to make this spirit deer as his fourth spirit ring.

He didn't have to worry about absorbing it since after reaching puberty, his entire body experienced a huge transformation.

His cells became far stronger and tougher, exceeding even the qualities of some spirit beast with strong ancient bloodlines.

Ning Chen also heard about spirit beast developing their mind after their age reached 10,000 years old.

This meant there was gonna be a strong mind shock when absorbing the spirit ring now.

However, Ning Chen was only slightly worried as he knew that his mind was tough as steel.

The stronger the pain he felt, the tougher he get.

After coming into his conclusion, Ning Chen summoned his sword and held it firmly.

<Second Sword Color: Green Dragon Agility>

Ning Chen's eyes glowed with an intense green color as he rushed toward the large deer.

His whole presence became one with the chilling wind, making it harder for others to detect him.

<Spirit Bone: Wolf Leg>

Ning Chen also used his spirit bone's ability to further augment his speed.

The spirit deer was an ice spirit beast and this place was covered in heavy snow and ice.

It's detection ability was very great at this kind of place, making it quickly detect Ning Chen.

The spirit deer opened it's mouth and blue light began to gather inside.

It then released the blue light and shoot it toward Ning Chen in a straight line.

Ning Chen quickly avoided it and the blue light landed on the ground, causing the ground to instantly freeze.

It was quite lethal...

Ning Chen remarked as he continued to charge toward the spirit deer with his sword swiftly falling from the sky.

The spirit deer's antlers began to glow brightly and many layers of blue crystal barrier covered it's whole body.

"Break!" Ning Chen roared deeply as his eyes glowed with crimson light.

A terrifying strength erupted from within his body and it all poured toward his sword.

Crack!

Crack!

The multiple layers of barriers shattered one by one into pieces and the sword continued to fall, slicing the deer's antlers into half.

The spirit deer managed to avoid the sword by retreating, but it's antlers wasn't able to avoid the sword in time.

The spirit deer was quickly furious and at the same time, anxious.

It Instinctively knew it couldn't defeat Ning Chen.

The spirit deer began to gather a large amount of blue light inside it's mouth.

It was betting all of it's trust, life, hope — everything to this one single attack of his.

The spirit deer hoped this attack could defeat Ning Chen, so it could live longer.

The blue light appeared to become extremely concentrated and intense as it reached it's peak strength.

The spirit deer fired this blue energy beam toward Ning Chen and determinedly believed it would win.

The blue energy beam flew through the air and instantly froze everything on it's path.

Ning Chen was able to feel the emotions contained in the energy beam and he wanted to take it head on without holding back.

<Two Color Dragon Mode>

His eyes flashed with two color — red and green.

Ning Chen charged toward the energy beam and used 'Solar Flash'.

His legs tightened tensely as he took a very long and deep breath.

With his hands grasping the hilt of his sheathed sword, he leaped forward with a blinding speed and clashed with energy beam.

He unsheathed his sword and slashed forward.

Swoosh!

Ning Chen saw his sword gradually freezing after clashing against the blue energy beam.

He grinned and his muscles swelled as the sword started to cleanly split the energy apart.

The spirit deer was shocked and saddened seeing that it's attack failed.

It knew it's inevitable death was nearing and came to accept it's fate helplessly.

Ning Chen was about to use his sword to decapitate the spirit deer's head, but he suddenly halted and froze completely.

The water on the lake started to become chaotic and foamy as a large shadow gradually began to appear inside the water.

Maybe because it was of the outside being too noisy or maybe because of the smell of fear and death — the thing inside the lake was awakened.

A thunderous roar resounded clearly through the forest as a water pillar rose toward the sky.

Ning Chen felt his blood running cold as he turned to look toward the water pillar.

The spirit deer was also shocked seeing this, but it quickly escaped from the area after Ning Chen failed to kill it.

Its life was more important.

The water pillar soon disappeared and a gigantic ice dragon appeared within it whose body was predominantly covered with dark, blue scales.

The ice dragon had the typical western dragon body; four thick legs and two gigantic wings which resembled a bat's wings.

It's dragon head was also the same; being triangular in shape with large horns, and a pair of large, round eyes with icy blue sclera.

It's body showed noticeable scars on it's stomach, snout and neck, with the largest scar located it's chest which looked like a claw marks.

The ice dragon had rows of ice spikes reaching down from it's back to the end of it's tail.

It also had sharp teeths and dark blue, razor-sharp claws.

The ice dragon was terrifying and beautiful at the same time.

It was the strongest species of the spirit beast race after all.

ROARRR!!

The ice dragon roared loudly as it stared menacingly at Ning Chen while looking down.

Ning Chen saw it's eyes and noticed it was clearly not in a good mood.

Rather, the ice dragon's eyes was filled with bloodlust and coldness as it stared at him.

Ning Chen didn't even bothered about the spirit deer escaping and just dropped into his own stance cautiously.

He felt every single cells inside his body screaming in fear and horror while facing the ice dragon.

But at the same time, Ning Chen also felt extremely excited.

His blood which was running cold was now boiling intensely.

The gigantic dragon roared loudly again as it charged toward Ning Chen.

Ning Chen raised his sword and closed his eyes.

The entire forest descended into complete silence.

The sounds of crickets and birds vanished and the howling gale also stopped abruptly.

Ning Chen opened his eyes and it was filled with complete tranquility.

He raised his sword proudly to the sky and let out a thunderous battle cry.

It was now time.

To slay a dragon.

And become a dragon himself.
